NanoPad = biggest pile of crap ever produced by a music instrument manufacturer. 2 x units DOA so I'm going to spend my time trying to do £60 worth of damage to Korg's reputation. Which is probably a drop in the ocean compared to the damage Korg themselves have caused. Avoid at all costs!
@Jochms oh my god yeah man he slammed it so hard you shouldnt just expect korg to produce electronic devices to withstand such harsh falls I dont know anything that could survive a month of THAT
@Jochms SLAM @ 0:03?!? Well, we can't all be dainty little ladies with our equipment. It sounds like you wouldn't drive a car over 55 mph...just to ensure it lasts more than a MONTH.
true to the video... my korg nanopad stopped workinf after a few months.. my nanokey arent responsive anymore.. the only decent one that is working is the kontrol.
i took out the nanokey apart and found out that the contacts need to be wiped for it to be responsive again.
tore out the nanopad.. after meddling with it.. pried open the pads contacts.. and all it need is a small wipe for it to work again...
@adddictedtosnownfish For the kontrol something like a novation nocturn would be good, bit more expensive though. For the key spend a bit more and get a half decent 25 key controller like an M-audio oxygen 8. Theres no point having pads that small and that flimsily made imo, save up for something decent like the full sized pad kontrol or an mpd.
@toomdj i've had this problem with mine also. If it's still under warranty get it shipped out, email them or call them. Seems like it's been happening to a lot of people too
You are the Youtube scrub my friend. You spend most of your time telling people their comments are worthless and then spend hours defending your pride when you discover your not as clever as you thought you was.
I have made numerous business contacts through the net, collaborations, events, record labels, studio work. This is not an uncommon thing. Many of the top producers and dj's are interfacing this way to discover new avenues. Clearly you still have to learn just what 'life' is nowadays.
If you knew anything about anything, you'd understand that the internet, Youtube included, is THE platform to be discussing such topics. Here you can meet others in your field who you would probably never come across in your lifetime. See what others are doing, get feedback from the public, see what people from different parts of the globe are into atm. The whole digital audio revolution alongside the internet has pushed dj'ing into the future.
I hate to hate on EanGolden here, because he is promoting creativity and opening doors for the role of a dj, but this vid is an example of a dj who is not a great 'artist'.
Sure, the functions used are appealing to noobs, but this is a bad composition.
Musicality is the word im looking for here. For a start the Queen acapella doesn't harmonise with the 'tipsy' melody at all. Harmony isn't always important for dj'ing but it has to work on some level. Then the over-use of effects,
Thanks for the comment about the unit failing after a month. The darn thing is so exactly what I would want - just add light-up pads. But nothing's any good if it breaks down so fast. Shame, really. Like a Lightning fast Running Back with great moves - but he Fumbles.
So somewhere over history, taking someone else's good music and then adding a bunch of unnecessary distortion, drum loops, and bass became an art form? So if I took a Picasso Painting and hot glued some pine cones and glitter all over it and then took a shit on the entire mess, would I suddenly be an artist? With all due respect, I enjoy Techno...and sometimes even Techno Remixes of other songs...but this didn't "Rock Me".
@deusprogrammer if u actually did that, i wud consider u an artist and ud probably make a lot of money off of it at the MoMA seeing as someone put in a plain shoe box in and made mad cash
Because dj'ing 'can' be an artform, when done properly.
It is a form of creative expression, which involves composition with intent to provoke emotional reaction. Of course, music is the medium, whether they created it or not. A dj that just slaps on record after record, is just a dj.
A dj who intends to take you on their personal journey through sound, creating something new along the way out of a set medium, is a performer.
A completed song is the same for everyone. The colour Blue, is the same for everyone. But in the hands of an artist, it becomes something else.
A Dj set is a piece of work. Its not about the individual tracks, its about the entire piece. Its a composition involving dynamics, timbres, and many other music devices, all selected, formed, and timed to promote the required emotional response. Alot of dj's at the top of the game can be considered artists or performers. But not many.
contd.. bad composition of cue triggers, just a bad compositional flow overall, poor drumming. He concentrates too much on imitating turntablists, which doesn't sound quite right using these tools.
Music is the medium, so a knoledge of music theory is neccesary (whether taught or natural) in order for a dj to truely be an artist and create overall, a piece of work. For me, it started out like a jigsaw, but then i realise i was painting an entire picture. The songs are just different colours.
dude. yes. while i dont use traktor, this vid helped me maximize the ba-jeezus out of my nanopad. ive got it playing all kinds of awesome samples from my fav songs now. Doing stuff i never thought i could. thanks for helping pave the way to pure pad-happiness. @ Raffin- the nanoseries sometimes conflicts with eachother, they need different inputs. two nanopads? mightv have been a better idea to spring for a larger mpc, like the mpd26 or korg padKontrol.

Hi, i've just bought this nonnopad, and i was wondering if you could tell me how to fix the sound.? When i hit the buttons, i think the sounds are a little lagging?
@HumanPietBox well there's fruity loops, you can use ezdrummer as a plug-in there. otherwise in ezdrummer lite go to options>audio>latency and lower the buffer size, that's it
I have this same model,& buyers beware!! It is a COMPLETE PIECE OF SHIT!!! KORG'S Customer Service department SUCKS elephant ASS!!! STEER clear of this piece of crap w/ pads!!
how do i set the nanopad up with Reason 4.0's Redrum?
I have found this on some review-like website...
"Using the Korg Kontrol Editor software, I went back and reprogrammed it so that Pad 1 would trigger Redrum's Channel 1 sample (C2), Pad 2 would trigger Channel 2 (C#2), and so on."
I Did that but get no sound from it.
its not reason cos my nanokey works with it.
If someone could help a brother out id be really appreciative.
it would be a good present as long as he knows what to do with it, it's not a toy and you need serious software like traktor or albaton live, configuring the mapping isn't as straight forward as you might think ether.
hahahahaha i was in the process of writing you an email bout the nano pad.....never mind you covered it. Saw you on Attack of the show, good work man!!!
"Jelous are we" is a phrase, and don't trash talk ANYTHING until you try it for yourself. This "remized computer shit" is a lot harder to come up with than you would think. Not as difficult as the real thing, but still pretty frustrating to work out . . . just like "real" music.
Kinda pissed, my NanoPad pads (1 & 2?) started to die on me. I got it in July messed with it maybe a total of 6 hours in that time and I picked it back up today for the first time in about a month and now it is random with it's hit detection (Hit it like 10 times and the drum sound would play once) *sigh* Aw well, good thing it was only $60. Remember, BUY THE INSURANCE THINGS AT STORES. So you don't have to deal with you shit breaking.
I'd just invest in a better piece of hardware, these things are like overpriced toys. They're so fragile and aren't built to last. With an ardunio and some piezoelectric elements and some silicone+molds you could likely build a drum pad just as good.
This guy does look like earl hickey and I am sure he has a list and like carma. Wonder if he is friends with that tempting latina maid from the show. May be he can sorato her or slip her a triton pro??
Could someone help me? I just got a nanopad, but am getting really aggrivated. Got it synced and running in FL studios8, but with a problem. I can only control one midi channel at a time, with one sound. The sounds just changes pitch with each pad hit. How do i assign different samples/sounds to a pad? Then run that assigned set in FL studios or LIVE? I like the feel of the pad, but it seems pointless if beat making was less of a hassle without one. ANY HELP? I don't wanna have to return it
How did you put your own samples on the pad? i just got the nano pad 2 and cant figure it out

it would be a good present as long as he knows what to do with it, it's not a toy and you need serious software like traktor or albaton live, configuring the mapping isn't as straight forward as you might think ether.

hahahahaha i was in the process of writing you an email bout the nano pad.....never mind you covered it.
