@bengativo6 Personally I consider X factor one of their best albums and virtual XI probably one of their worst (and that's not Blaze's fault). XF was written for Blaze and his sound. VXI was closer to no prayer or fear of the dark stilistically (but much worse) and not suited for Blaze's vocals. They also changed their writing to adapt Bruce's style and it was different and still great. Killers and Number of the beast are worlsd apart and both are cool. I dont follow them anymore to be honest...

you can tell every band member is syncing the song, dave murray is moving funny, blaze is like the singer version of janick gers, steve harris is like a normal bass player, nicko mcbrain acts like a normal drummer, and worst of all janick gers is replaced my some guy. but then again janick gers doing playback without adrain smith, would just be awesome
Agreed, The X-factor And Virtual 11 had to be the worst maiden albums, and im glad they didn't split up during the reign of Blaze, glad Brucey came back because he just IS Iron Maiden, and the only songs i like of Blaze are The Angel And The Gambler, Man On The Edge And Futureal.

Thats crazy! The first album that combined three guitars. Musically one of the best albums in my opinion. Steve is the leader and backbone of Iron Maiden, but its hard to tell when you have greatest metal singer of all time at the helm.

Janick was not available at the time due to some personal issues, so they had Tony Newton (bass player from Dirty Deeds, who were opening for Maiden on the Virtual XI tour along with Helloween) to replace Janick on some TV shows appearances. Tony Newton is now the bass player of Voodoo Six.
It's the guitarist of a band called Dirty Deeds (later just Deeds). Don't remember his name but he didn't replace Janick because they didn't play live. Dirty Deeds was a band on Steve Harris his label Beast Records.

In certain songs like The Clansman, Journeyman, and The Sign of the Cross have I him use his thumb, in most cases he just strikes with his fingernail on his right hand. Especially when you can see him playing up on the fretboard.
He's clearly using the nail of his index finger dude. If he were using his thumb it wouldn't sound as clean, even though it's obvious that they playing along with the recording.

Hi, anyone who is interested...it's not Barry Fitzgibbons on guitar. It is Tony Newton. They toured with Maiden in a band called Dirty Deeds. Barry was guitarist, Tony was bassist. Janick had family problems or an illness which meant it was impossible for him to perform. They stitiched Tony up by saying the camera wouldn't show his face, and during the performance they all ran up to him to ensure it did. He hates this fact being let out the bag, but as he's a mate it's my duty to embarrass him.

Blaze is a good singer, but he isn't made for Iron Maiden. His tone of voice is darker and deeper, and that was such a big change for Maiden fans back in the day. He is much better off with his own band, "Blaze", because that band definitely fits in with his voice. Another bad thing about Blaze at the time was he could never keep his voice up to pitch while playing live. None the less though, he is a good singer, but just not for Iron Maiden.

From the second page of comments, according to vaijones2002 it's Tony Newton. I've got no clue who exactly he is, but I'll agree with vaijones2002...I never noticed it wasn't Janick. I feel like a jackass now.

Hi, anyone who is interested...it's not Barry Fitzgibbons on guitar. It is Tony Newton. They toured with Maiden in a band called Dirty Deeds. Barry was guitarist, Tony was bassist. Janick had family problems or an illness which meant it was impossible for him to perform. They stitiched Tony up by saying the camera wouldn't show his face, and during the performance they all ran up to him to ensure it did. He hates this fact being let out the bag, but as he's a mate it's my duty to embarrass him.

Blaze is a good singer, but he isn't made for Iron Maiden. His tone of voice is darker and deeper, and that was such a big change for Maiden fans back in the day. He is much better off with his own band, "Blaze", because that band definitely fits in with his voice. Another bad thing about Blaze at the time was he could never keep his voice up to pitch while playing live. None the less though, he is a good singer, but just not for Iron Maiden.

they are playing silent because janick is not there, he had a family problem that day. The keyboards are done by 'arrys bass tech offstage and blaze is not a ad singer, stop critizicing him!!!

janick had to leave home due to some personal issues (can't really remember what it was, but i think someone in his family passed away.. dont know who the other guy is.. probably someone in the roadcrew)
