OJ being a part of the 1981 team 2 years later was not out if the question had he continued his therapy on his knee. His speed of 1970-1977 was gone but consider how slow Lenvil Elliott was in 81 and yet he got a lot of touch's that year. Also by the 81 season Walsh's offense was hardly ever handing the ball to backs and OJ would have been catching dump off passes which he was still very good at. Former Cowboy Calvin Hill, entering the NFL same time as OJ, was effective in that role for Browns.
@Snowboy2015 Yeah, that was 1979 before O.J. retired. Haha, his buddy Al Crowlings. How funny, the greatest running back ever, and yet he killed Nichole Brown Simpson and then Ronald Goldman, then tried to steal back his stuff.
@xxpandamidknightxx all of that going for him, and he manages to throw it all away because of a woman and her lover, real sad bro. and then he's crazy enough as a senior citizen to rob his own memorabilia.wtf?
The power of sports legends is amazing.....it's not just here in the US...soccer legends probably could get away with even more in other countries(Diego Maradona comes to mind)
What I really liked about O.J. Simpson as a player was that he really knew how to execute! Never been a running back since with such a killer instinct!
December 9, 1979. The Bucs were 9-5 and still looking to clinch the NFC Central; they had lost two in a row at home to Minnesota and then Chicago before facing the 49ers at Candlestick. We all thought, the 49ers are 1-13 and Tampa Bay Should Get It Today. But, as some legendary sportscaster says, that's why they play the game. SF won 23-7, and Tampa Bay needed to hold off Kansas City in heavy rain on the final day to finally win their division.
@txkid1 - was AC really any good? I don't know anything about his career. I was under the impression that he did little more than shine O.J.'s shoes, screw O.J.'s sloppy second chicks, and drive that White Bronco.
Were you at that 1973 Bills/Colts game in Baltimore when the Colts had a 17-10 lead, then coughed up two TD's in a minute, including an interception return for six? Watched it on a fuzzy screen in Toronto via our antenna and rotating cable box. Was quite peeved at the downfall of the aging Colts.
Tampa Was the same thing. Back in the late 80s early 90s, you woke up Sunday morning and decided if you felt like going to the game or not. You walked up to the ticket window, bought the cheapest seat, and walked over to the 40 half way up.
When you could go to Candlestick 1/2 hour before kick off, walk down to the 50 yd. line, sit and enjoy a game. Within 2 years, Everyone would jump on the bandwagon as that would all be over.
It's December 9, 1979. San Francisco upset Tampa Bay, which needed to win this game to win the NFC Central. The 49er fans tore down the goalpost in the south end zone after this monumental win, which upped San Francisco to...2-13!

If OJ and USC had played in the Cotton Bowl instead of the Rose Bowl Lindsey Nelson would have called it too

OJ and AC were one of the best duos ever in the game. Amazing that they never made it to the super bowl.

@svetaswan AC was good. I watched a lot of Colts/Bills games in the 1970s and he was in a lot of plays.
