  • The disabled community continues to fight for Money Follows the Person and the Community Choice Act. This is what we need to help ensure that people like Any have the best life possible, even if family members pass on.

  • This mom is one of the greatest mom in the world. I am a special education teacher and I feel so inspired by watching this video !

  • God bless you. Your family is beautiful!

  • Can anyone identify the type of pen andy is using. I cannot find a pen like that anywhere

  • Well if shes worried about what will happen after she dies, she has nothing to worry about! He seemes and does everything a normal person would do. :] God bless him <3

  • God bless you for giving this boy a chance at life instead of aborting him. I would rather have children with D.S. than giving birth to a future Ted Bundy.

  • Rock on. You as a family are looking at the reality of care that is needed. Great job. I'm sure many people wait to long to look at planning for a safe, happy, and rewarding future for their children with disabilities.

I see a great futrue for my daughter age 8 with DS. I hope someday she can find a soul mate like Andy has and have a well rounded rewarding life. I don't see any reason why that won't happen. I am EXTREMELY proud of her. ;)

  • so beautiful.

  • Wonderful!!

  • I don't know what to say.

You seem like very nice people.

    You have my respect.

  • down syndrome is a blessing check out Tanner on my page hes six and so smart!

  • love this video, its very inspiring!

  • @TheAtheistVisionary

Intelligence has limited Mendelian inheritance with a correlant of something like .42, not very strong. Hence it's likely they'll give birth to average intelligence children. Also, again, Down's syndrome is autosomal recessive, not Mendelian, in inheritance.

  • My son, age 33 now, also has DS. He moved into a private apartment with a roommate at age 27. They both work, laugh and have wonderful caregivers. He loves his life and is always happy to return to his home after a weekend with me. The caregivers have young children of their own, and they are kind and take excellent care of him. Even though my son in non-verbal (autism also) he has a fantastic life, friends, and love. Andy will be ok...please do not worry so

  • I introduced my Down/autistic/non-verbal son to a new life at age 27. He shares an apartment with a similar roommate, fabulous caregivers and friends. He works each day, laughs and enjoys his life. In Ohio USA, his money goes towards his full care, and I supplement other needs for him. He needs this independence...for when I am gone. His dad passed 6 years ago, I needed to know he had a place, a safe and happy one...for when I am gone. He has excelled in his new life.

  • why so parents think like this thats bad if my child has a disorder when i'm gone he/she take care of them selves

  • Hi Ana and Andy,

Great documentary. We will be at the NDSC conference to show Brett's Documentary in July. Send me e-mail and lets talk.

  • Thank God this young man has siblings who will look out for his best interests after the deaths of his parents. Otherwise, he'd be at the mercy of the system.

  • This is a beautiful family.

  • Thank you for sharing. This a beautiful and inspirational story. God Bless.
