Good video lughaniel. I am rapidly losing respect for any religion/way of thinking that says their way is the only way. Misinterpretation at best, and at worst, malicious and self-righteousness clap-trap. Listen to your own heart.
"Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.....But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."
The "image" has NOTHING to do with Nam Myoho Renge Kyo ... which may have to do is that Jesus was a man who really fought for peace of mankind! But that's it ..... we should go deeper, know more, then yes, draw our own conclusions and always concerned not to offend anyone.
Nothing has opened my life up more than practicing Buddhism. As for Daisaku Ikeda, his singular determination has always been to help each individual attain a state more profound than his own. A ego-based guru, seeking hero-worship, would never strive for each generation to be more strongly based in enlightenment than the last with the ultimate goal of the enlightenment of the planet. He has always held that each person has equal access to the Buddha nature of the cosmos within their own lives
Agree with most, especially axodus and alanashewell, seems they used to be more evangelical, not so much anymore, calling themselves one of many Buddhist paths (sgi that is) .... beautiful chant and enough people practicing to be able to engage in the outside world and share ... I think the split from Nichiren Shoshu opened their eyes as to how they appeared. Vehicles to enlightenment need to be offered w/ an ounce of humility.
The idea that God is all light and in God their is no darkness is exclusive of the dark, one exists with the other.Chanting Nam myoho Renge Kyo with a deep understanding of the metaphysical concepts increases its potentency and to create harmomy within the Unified field of all potentiality, so as to make it function in a more benficial way
I think you're confusing a religion like Christianity to a philosophy of life to Buddhism, is not the same, Nichiren Buddhism recognizes Jesus as a prophet simply nothing more!! Buddhism teaches that through Nam Myoho Renge Kyo we can transform our karma and overcome our obstacles, our life is merged with the universe and we can raise our state of life, not compare Jesus with Buddhist teaching! is not the same! to compare need to talk to basics! Buddhism is a philosophy of life!
@MySuperVane I think Jesus taught a life philosophy, then men just wrote the stories to fit their needs and desires. Don't blame Christ for how others interpret their own reality.
I like the cross-discipline theme and comments made here re: Hebrew/Christian/Buddhist thought etc. The SGI and Nichiren Shoshu sects are deeply evangelical and are worth multi-billions. Try asking them to see the books....har har. Nam Myoho Renge is a beautiful mantra....choose your organization wisely though. The SGI is a good place to learn basics but move on and see what is out there. pax
@PuddlesMcNiggley hi. The basis of my comments re: the monetary worth of the SGI or NS? Well, the SGI is one of the richest religious groups in the world. It is up there with the Vatican. Where does the money come from you might ask? The members...promises of material gain and enlightenment. NS is vastly wealthy too. they fought over money and assets when they split in 91. They are very evangelical, zealous, intensely narrow. I only suggest SGI to learn the mantra and gongyo. then get out...
@PuddlesMcNiggley as quick as you can. Or, stick around and chant with them for a year or two. They chant long hours, which is a good way to see the effect of the mantra. When the chanting is over, get out of the building before they start flinging their BS propaganda and guru worshiping. It is a BORE, and ignorant people foster it. Nichiren would be rolling over in his grave if he knew that his gorgeous mantra was being used that way. good luck...you deserve the freedom of independent practice!
@PuddlesMcNiggley hi. curious: do you mean my comment holds no weight or that you are not interested in guru worship? If the latter is true, well, for me, I cannot support a group like them, because the EMPHASIS they put on Ikeda is so unbalanced, so idolizing, it is sickening to me. It smacks of cult psychology, cult money, cult authoritarianism. Observe it as long as I did and you might see it.
@PuddlesMcNiggley p.s. All you need to know is that you are a Buddha, or the Light, or the universe. John 14:12: "Verily, I say unto you, He that believeth in me, the works that I do he shall do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." This is his secret teaching: he understood that every person had the potential to go beyond Himself. DON"T BELIEVE THE HYPE. Peace, Love, God, Jesus, Buddha, Wisdom, Compassion, Truth. Take care of your sacred heart! N-M-R-Kyo
There is no doubt in my soul that Jesus did indeed study with buddhists during his missing years. It is apparently in his core teaching, the same core teaching of buddhism: The Lotus Sutra, the mystic law. It's the same as the "golden rule". After a lifetime of seeking truth, the Holy Spirit revealed this and much more to me. It is so clear that most faiths teach the same core principle that is the universal law. It functions both spiritually and materially.
Having practiced since 1969, it is clear to me that there is only one enlightenment and many vehicles to that enlightenment. Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo is the prime vehicle for the latter day of the law (now). Though this video takes some liberties with the mantra (mixing it with pop/disco music) there is only one Nam-Myoho-renge-Kyo, any way you say it. You can mix all the Jesus you want with Buddhism; it is the same thing-only the religious sects differ.
@Axodus8 This is what I learned long ago and try to get others to understand. I'm a Hebrew Christian Buddhist, and you wouldn't believe the religious bigotry I hear from some "Christians", and I make sure they know they are bigots too. It is irresponsible to allow people to continue in their ignorance because it shows a lack of bodhisattva compassion, and without compassion, we can't put into practice the truths that our faith asks of us.
@ZarniwoopUK1 Thank you from my heart, and I sincerely hope the practice has brought forth a treasure of benefit in your life as well. It is only some of the practicioners from each religion which make embracing the Daishonin's Buddhism along with the teachings of Christ difficult-the schools are actually very similar in many ways.
It all boils down to what is in ones heart because that is what we live and die with, and is where our prayers originate and are answered. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo
I think that the mission of christ is a message of a good news for human being : we will be save !
the human quality and personnality of Christ if you study it you will understand that Christ is a boudha and has the boudha quality.
the difference concern the mission on hearth : boudha gives solutions to eliminate suffering and karma and give way and learning to get Jesus quality of a pure hearth able to be one with the Divinity and Wiseness of univers. they are in the same team to help us
Boudhisme is not a religion : Siddartha Shyakyamuny boudha that create boudhism had one purpose : to find a solution to free human being and his people (he was a prince) from the 4 type of suffering in life and bad karma. He never said he created a religion at all. If you study boudhism, you'll see that it has the carasteristic of a philosophy, a way of life, a musicotherapy, a mind and body therapy, even a science
@myoholyna My dear Friend with the greatest of Respect Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is what Shakyhamuni transferred as his highest teaching in which life death , cause and effect are held with in this teaching and the abiltiy to reveal our own Buddha Nature . Yes it is a Philosophy . Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is the most power ful Buddhist practice by chanting this Enlightenment is there within the concepts of the 10 worlds and 3000 realms in a moment
@myoholyna true it is not a "religion" per se, but it is a type of FAITH. Faith is the point. Faith in the mystic law, or the golden rule, etc., is the exact same thing. Those who say there is only one way are both right and wrong. Because the law of cause and effect is the ultimate law of the universe and the spiritual realm. When they try to say Jesus is the only way, they are missing the point. JESUS IS the mystic law, so when one claims to believe in Jesus, they can't deny the LAW.
But thanks to boudhism and according to the book "ABC of kabbala"the juish kabbala, the level of awarness you gain with bouddhism is the one just befor the level of awareness of mans like Moisa or Jesus Christ that were directly in link with the Wild Divine Wiseness and Law the that created this univers where we live. It is usefull to study boudhism to gain a pure hearth and awareness, so clean that God bless you. this is why boudists have results thanks to their practice
I think its good you use a jesus image, let the world know He is a bodhisatvha ! and cannot be claimed by christianity for ever. jesus One of the highest budha! NAM- take refuge to MYO the spiritual law and its HO physical apperences seen en learning from the RENGE or (lotusflower symbolic) its lessons of total connection (awerness) KYO just like jezus said.
The Universe, according to Buddha, is governed by one single umbrella law based on the science and rhythm of cause and effect, and he said that mankind would eventually prove this.
This law which should be chanted by the human voice is called;
Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.
By chanting aloud every day for at least 10 minutes, one can put oneself into perfect rhythm with the Universe, and therby gain insights, wisdom, energy, happiness and benefits that would be otherwise not be available to us.
I like jesus, but he is nothing but a dead person whose message we long forgot.
Mhohorengekyo embodies the whole universe and we try to move within this universe, seeing our obstacles and benefits. By realising that WE ARE this universe, that our potential within it is unlimited.
@zotuz Interesting idea but CHrist did have Buddha nature as much as all of us , He lived and died and no doubt re-born many times since . SUch is the nature of cause and effect. I personally dont see him as a divine permanent entity , BUddhism teaches that nothing is permanent or fixed but transitory and changing in what I view as The miracle Of Impermanance . The mystic law is held within everything inclulduing the Universe and us
@zotuz iF YOU UNDERSTAND THE TRUE FUNDAMENTAL MEANING OF NAM MYOHO RENGE KYO THEN YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS 'LIFE' AND THEREFORE ALL 'LIFE' PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE IS NAM MYOHO RENGE KYO. THIS WOULD INCLUDE THAT OF JESUS. :O)

In the bible Jesus was missing from age 13 to 30
In the himalayan mountains buddhists kept records dating back to the time
and before Christ, anyway, in their records for that amount of time there was a man
studying there with them. He went on to teach basic buddhist principles if you think about it.
