This is playing off of "story of the Selkie or Seal Wife", isn't it? Where a farmer takes and hides the skin of a beautiful selkie maid and forces her to marry him. He keeps her skin in a chest, and keeps the key with him both day and night. One day when out fishing, he discovers that he has forgotten to bring his key. When he returns home, the selkie wife has escaped back to sea, & taken their child with her. He never sees her or his child again b/c they've returned to their kind.

@cappuccinoJScinccino The song is called The Kissing Gate by the band Kila. I heard Tomm Moore wants Song of the Sea released by late 2012 or early 2013, but that's just a rumor in the animation community. :)
