Best instruction I've seen since Tommy Kono's S&H series back in the 1970's. Power is available where you find it. Olympic technique and kenisthetics is what makes this sport. So simple that it's beautiful and pure athleticism measured and judged by the weight on the bar.
this video gives you a good idea of olympic weightlifting but olympic weightlifting isn't something you can learn from watching a video or 2 online, the real teacher in olympic weightlifting are the aches/injuries you get as a beginner, when your wrist starts aching, you know damm well as soon as your wrist heals, you better change to the olympic weightlifting hook grip, when your bustin your testicles in accident in the snatch, you know damm well when u recover, you better widen that grip
ha ha funny shit trance, a lot of people have to figure out the hook grip the hard way. The ball accident, well not everyone has enough ball to go that heavy. Snatch, it's not just what you do after dinner and a movie anymore.
You won't get nearly as much muscle growth from Olympic lifting as you would from muscle-specific exercises, but the real benefit of Olympic lifts is that your ENTIRE body is involved in the lift. This means everything gets stronger, if not bigger.
You gain mass in the legs, hips, and back, mostly. The mass gains come a little slow. But, it seems like the gains come a little slow in bodybuilding as well.
you need to wear compressions shorts or something to keep your sack from moving all over the place, OR you are jumping and kicking the hips foreward at the wrong time
who cares about the straps, despite the fact I am usually against them for deadlifts, cleans etc....but his technique is spot on. He is just trying to teach you how to power snatch correctly.
How do you not whack your sack doin that? I tried it and i was rollin on the gym floor clutchin my nuts. No joke, i wanna know how you can prevent that...
contact with the bar should be made just above that area. it happens to everyone, i would suggest widening your grip slightly to hopefully prevent it from happening again.
uh, ive done that before, hah i know it hurts like hell. on the pull above the knees, do not bend your arms, if you bend your arms the bar does not excelorate and when you push with your "hips" you probablly did it in the wrong area. in short "finish the pull"
This is excellent - one of the best OWL instructionals on the net.

Straps are pretty normal when doing sets af snatches. Let's you focus on the lift instead of the grip.
