actually the hits in football are a whole lot harder but its much easier to get hurt in rugby because first and most obviously there are no pads but also there are fewer rules and the play is generally much dirtier plus there is a lot more movement involved resulting in more chances for leg injuries. I played both sports for over 5 years each and they are both hard in their own respects
