hey i have a 3000gt and i would like to know the list of parts i would need to convert it. and have a good deal of speed with it any help would be appreciated
Google Electric Brake Line Lock Kit and you will find a link to LOW RANGE OFFROAD.
They have two types of line locks listed, one manual for $32.95 and another with a solenoid for $55.98; which are made for use with silicone and DOT 3 fluids.
I guess what Im submitting is a proposal of a hydraulic line lock on the breaking system which would be activated via the absence of voltage on a solenoid as the ignition key was turned off.
By simply coming to a stop, your foot would be on the brake pedal which energized the braking hydraulics and as long as the ignition key was in the on position the line locking solenoid would be actively open drawing minimal amps. Once the key is turned off the solenoid closes locking the breaks hydraulic circuit active but no longer drawing any amperage.
A hydraulic line lock is legal; wreakers have them.
I enquired with the State Police about a manual line lock which we used in place of a hand brake on a home built conglomeration of a Datsun 310GX unibody hatch back and a shortened framed Nissan 4x4 pick up truck. There werent any parking brake cables for such a configuration.
We also used hockey pucks as body mount grommets and it was quite fun to drive plus the speedometer cable clipped right in and was accurate.
That sounds dangerous, what happens if the soleniod fails driving on the road, disaster will strike as your car is now not stoppable because the soleniod has locked your brake system, and no more brakes
I think the stock equipment is fine and actually works
This hydraulic lock uses the line pressure of the system to hold your brakes locked on, no electrical or special linkage required. Just step on the foot brake, push the park lock down then let off the foot brake and its locked. Step on the foot brake again and it opens automatically. Holds any vehicle with hydraulic brakes where you put it.
If you buy a converted car, we will install what ever you want.
but the hand brake works wonders and we dont have to modify the original acura design which many smart people thought about for years, and is DOT approved
Since an electric motor doesn't have the back compression like ICE does to keep it from rolling away when shut off; how other than just the parking brake do you keep the car stationary? I mean, when you park with the nose of the car facing down a hill; you would put the transmission in reverse and the back compression of the engine helps hold it in place along with the parking brake.
Well yes you would also turn the front wheels towards the curb when facing down hill whether in an automatic or a standard shift; thats found in any defensive driving handbook.
Regardless of US/Foreign manufacturer the parking brake is an independent manually activated system and some automatic transmissions models do have the capability of releasing it when taken out of park.
An automatic transmission prohibits gear movement when in park and yes I know there are losses through fluidic conversion of torque.
What Im asking is if you installed some sort of countermeasure to account for the absence of the engines back compression. As you pointed out if you want anyone other than yourself to drive the car, LIKE, wives, friends, or anyone who doesnt know how to speed shift; they also dont always remember to set the parking break.
I had 100's of people try the car for a few days and not one has ever mentioned any concern for the car running away or rolling anywhere after they parked
they simply set the parking brake and no more moving, like I said above if you have us convert an Integra for you we can install a parking lock so if you turn the key off it sets a parking pin to stop any rolling even if its in neutral, but only when you turn the key off, and not mess with the brake system
Ive seen conversions where theyve removed the clutch assembly including the pedal stating you no longer need it as the motor doesnt turn when you are stopped and every little bit of weight reduced increases range.
Ive also driven a car whose throw out bearing went through the pressure plates tension fingers so the clutch couldnt be disengaged and I do understand how to shift utilizing the synchros in a transmission. I still belelive by doing so you increase wear on the gears.
Plus, if you are going to have air conditioning and power steering; Id think you would want the electric motor turning those pullys, understanding that it is decreasing your range but I still wonder if the spinning mass of the clutch assembly would actually reduce power consumption in the higher gears.
It has the ac compressor and the power steering pump running from the rear shaft
The clutch is VERY necessary if you want anyone other than yourself to drive the car, LIKE, wives, friends, or anyone who doesnt know how to speed shift
PLUS the wear issue and the SAFETY issue
The little bit of weight the other converters save by removing the parts from the clutch is so minimal, its not worth the trouble.
How is the clutch assembly related to achieving greater speed?
Are you implying that its additional mass coupled to the flywheel carries kinetic energy though centrifugal force increasing the torque too the transmission that the electric motor would otherwise not be able to generate within the same allotment of time?
Very nice!!! I'm interested in the story behind building it... You should check out team-integra[dot]net and give us a little history/info on your car. There's quite a few of us who would really appreciate it!
Oh, don't worry about the waiting period. It's just to keep troublemakers away... I'm a moderator on the site, but yes, there is quite a bit of interest in your projects. We'd love to hear more about it from you, so keep at it. :) Mind if I ask what username you created there?
Clean conversion! By the way, that's definitely NOT the stock stereo, that's an aftermarket Pioneer unit. But otherwise, this looks amazing.

Nice man, I've been thinking about how to convert the teg to electric because I love the car so much!

how fast can it go? and what is the battery life? bet it has enough torque to start in 2nd or 3rd too.

That is one bad ass Acura! Do you still have it?
Acura better not be acting like GM and take it back just to crush it or wrongfully put it in a museum.

How do you do reverse?
3089280288 2 years ago
@3089280288
you put the stick shift in reverse and go
it drives the same as a gas vehicle
with a clutch and all 5 forward gears and reverse
blackdogfx 2 years ago
Why not use an automatic? Does the electric motor work without gears or transmission?
3089280288 2 years ago
@3089280288 Yes, but he'd mounted the electric motor to the manual transmission. So he haves manual without clutch.

Great looking build.
You can get a heads-up display digital speedometer that runs on GPS for about a hundred bucks, works great except in tunnels ;)

Hi,I like Honda I drive Honda and I like your EV Acura but tell my why you still need airfilter box in it?
qwantumijo 2 years ago
it lets the clean air cool the main controller and the motor, and it protects from dust and keeps the water out

thanks blackdogfx :)

the system that afterwards the batteries and front the motor that checks the speed of motor
unixmansira 3 years ago
still not sure what you need
websites that we get our parts is
EV-usa
KTA
just google ev parts
and you get a ton of websites

he probably meant speedometer - yours not working = showing speed
mzvarik 3 years ago
it works now, but no he meant the controller that controls the flow of dc current to the motor
blackdogfx 3 years ago
any website for speedconrols???
unixmansira 3 years ago
??? what do you need?
the controller or potbox

Thats not how a line lock works.
The manual Jamar Push Button Line Lock:
This hydraulic lock uses the line pressure of the system to hold your brakes locked on, no electrical or special linkage required. Just step on the foot brake, push the park lock down then let off the foot brake and its locked. Step on the foot brake again and it opens automatically. Holds any vehicle with hydraulic brakes where you put it.

the parking hand brake works byitself, unlike an american car, plus turn the wheels to the curb.
We also install new brake pads and rotors so its all new and works great
Thanks

does it still use the manual transmission?
lsvtecteg18 3 years ago
Yes, also the original clutch assembly
thats how we can get to 95 mph
and 0-60 in 7 seconds!
blackdogfx 3 years ago
How is the clutch assembly related to achieving greater speed?

SirTragain 3 years ago
The original question is "do we still have the manual transmission"
so what I meant was we can use the clutch to shift smoothly to higher gears to get higher speeds
I forgot that no one can read my mind
Sorry for my bad explanation
But no I don't think that the clutch helps the top speed
Thanks BEny
blackdogfx 3 years ago
You only need 2nd and 3rd gear 95mph in 3rd feels wierd
it also drives like an automatic when you stop so does the dc motor
the next car will have 60 mile range and a recharge of 15 minutes!!
