Awesome. I am in Arkansas, from California, and I could not talk this fast; let alone sing it! I assure you the people of Arkansas are so smart, they could tech you many things.
I don't care about all the negative posts on this song! This is one of my favorites and brings back great memories of my daddy. My daddy wanted to be an auctioneer and would take me to many livestock auctions when I was a little girl. Everytime I hear this song, it reminds me of my daddy!!
I bought this song as a 45 and sat down and listened to it writing down every sound Leroy made and learned the lyrics...I still have fun singing this song some 30 years later!
This song is like the "Dirt Road Anthem" of the 1960's, country rap at it's finest! What makes it more authentic is the fact that Lee Roy Van Dyke was an auctioneer before he became a country music singer.
used to play the auctioneer song for my son when he was 4 or 5 now he is seventeen and he is an auctioneer for storage wars on t.v. and he is good, thanks to mr. van dyke, watch out g.m.
@carrawitt I realize that the glaring error has scarred you for life and you'll never be able to listen to music again, but try to bring yourself to the level of mere mortals and understand. The syndicated TV programs produced in Nashville in the early 60s were done on a very tight budget...no rehearsal, no written arrangements, usually one run through by the artist and then a taping (no retakes). Given that knowledge, I'd say the bass player did fairly well, and certainly a lot better than you.
Totally ruined for sure! Lets get back in the studio and punch in some corrections. The room sounds a little to small, lets add some digital reverb and auto-tune the vocals along the way. The clapping at the end was a little too live sounding so lets loose that. Add some compression and chorus, to even the whole thing out, and replace the singer with a 19 year old with nice boobs and we're back in business. Speaking of business how about a little product placement in the rap.
@williamgwall It sounds great, who cares about a few little base mistakes!!!! Have you heard the state of country music today?! This should be music to anyones ears
@carrawitt I wouldn't say it "ruined" it and I wouldn't even say those were mistakes. I think you are making a bogus complaint to make yourself look like some kind of expert. The quality of this music is not good enough to discern a mistake in chords.
Some could sing great. Some could auctioneer great. This genius put them both together. Gawd, I was waiting for him to start juggling at the same time.
This is my favorite song of his, and to this day, I think it is one of THE BEST songs ever written! And HE wrote it his self. What a awesome guy!! :)
i love to see a performer enjoy themself. leroy van dyke has a talent and loves sharing it. ty for the post

One of the greatest country songs of all times, and one only Leroy Van Dyke can do right.

This is what country used to look like and not you have people like Tim McGay who look more like a dancer at a male review than county.
