For this particular tune, try playing at half the speed. It really suits a slow waltz tempo say around the 90 mark. Playing slower means you can add more feeling by adding chords and sustaining notes longer.

I had this substitute teacher once and she sat and played the accordian for 30 miniutes insted of teach us social. She was our fav substitute.
