More than that he used to work under the famous and temperamental Marco Pierre White. When he was training, chefs were regularly beaten and screamed at. Anthony Bourdain called it the SS of food. His work is soft compared to his upbringing.

One chef at my workplace acted like ramsay to some waiter who he thought was weak. The waiter turned out to be the total opposite of weak and then offered the chef out. The chef backed down and shut his mouth lol.

I understand that and like I said, it's a lot more tame in North America. They don't attack you personally, but if you do screw up they will give you shit. Like my classmate he said that when he was shucking oysters and there was still some sand in the he didn't clean out completely, his chef just yelled at him and threw the entire platter right at him.
