It's not about understanding or not understanding, it's about a very narrow view as to what comprises art. People think that art, in particular dance, needs to be explosive/impressive/pretty/na­rrative. That's the wrong way to think about it. There is no need to "get it." The choreographer had a bunch of ideas that she chose to express through movement with VERY TRAINED dancers. It's for us to experience, not to judge.
