People have to realize the difference between dancing and jump roping! I'm sure what Saltare does is originial and extremely, but there doing more jump roping and stunts then actually dancing, if they were to put the jump ropes down there dance moves would be awful, thats how I look at it, if the judges required them to dance without the jump ropes as opposed to the Jabbawockeez or Funk Phenonmenon who, if you can DANCE and if you asked them to perform with jump ropes they could do it
The question "Is that dancing?" is the reason shows like ABDC exist in the first place. Break dancing was NOT considered "real dance" for a long time, until talented dancers proved with their skills and choreography that it was. ABDC is a showcase for this. In that same spirit, Saltare was accepted into competition. Their final placing doesn't matter. They got us thinking about new possibilities all over again. If it's not dancing... why not? Why do you want to put dancing in a box?
THE PROBLEM HERE IS PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND DANCING CAN BE ANYTHING YES ANYHTING. dacing can be anything like it or not. that takes talent and alot of effort to do it. to say this is not dacing you have not even know what dance is.
Goosebumps is all i get when I watch this every time....WOW They rocked so hard to me the whole time...They had their occasional slip ups but I still loved them
first of all, the producers of ABDC wanted these guys on the show. you cant blame them for participating but honestly the producers put them in an awkward position, and as a result of course ppl are going to criticize them. so try not to hate too much
@axelpayne69 I understand that every season had a crew that was a little different but i mean look at the other seasons but come on. Breaksk8 actually danced even when they were on skates. Fanny Pak was just badass all together. Dynamic Edition was ok. And Vouge Evolution had a few good performances here and there. I mean Saltare was ok and they did some dancing here and there but just watching them jump rope all day can get a little boring. I not hating, im just saying. They were just OK to me
@Goonie6444, but sometimes people forget what dance really means, it means movement, flow, and above all, art. The whole idea is to have originality, and Saltare were definitely original. In other words, they helped define that there is no limit towards the art of dancing. True to the fact that they should focus more on choreography, and not just jumping and skipping rope, but that whole season, even after they were eliminated, they left their mark on the dance world.

But did i believe they were a good solid crew that brought something new to the table, absolutely. People are saying that this isn't dance, but they have coreography, stunts, and it's to music. In my mind, that's dance. In the competition, the ropes slowed them down majorly. You have only a few stunts you can do while inside the ropes and you can only do so much with coreography when your spinning ropes around you. I don't think they were quite ready to take on the challenges that this show puts the dancers through. After this performance, they struggled to keep up with the rest of the pack.
Newsflash, the only reason people don't see the tricks they do as dance is because they use jump ropes, people cannot get past the ropes, it's so stupid!
What if I go join ABDC w/o any skills in breaking, jump roping, or popping in robots, and just dance the hell out of myself. i know I won't win anything, but hell I am stil dancing.
So what defines dancing? Dance is an art form that generally refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music, and used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting. So yes, jump roping is dancing like popping in robots. This is by far their best performance. Awesome!
Also, they should do their absolute best to keep the REGULAR jump roping to an extreme minimum. Whenever you see them waste time just jumping in the rope like they're thinking about what to do next just slows the routine down I feel.
I think its extremely impressive what they do. I just feel like they should really change things up a bit more, and try, try, try to put more choreo.
I feel in their later performances they just milk the hell out of the double dutch and not much else. This first performance was incredible, the dancing in the double dutch, the letting go of their rope to catch it under their feet in unison, the ending where the guy grabs the ropes to make an X. Was all pretty cool.
Playing the devils advocate here, but dancing is defined as rhythmically moving in time with music. Furthermore, numerous dance crews include complicated tricks to break up the rhythmic motion of the routine. Isn't that what they are doing?
I liked Saltare, but they weren't my favorite dance crew. Yes, I am calling them a dance crew, because they brought something original to ABDC. I hate it how most people don't call this dancing, because it is. A lot of youtubers are just a bunch of close-minded people who can't tell good from bad. Just because they brought something new to the dance floor, doesn't mean you should say it's not dancing. They are dancing, just with a prop.
I'd watch abdc over "dancing with the stars" any day - saltare was awesome to watch...not a pure dance crew and some are resentful about that but the whole point is that abdc sheds a light on new styles of dance and adding ropes is a cool dimension...30 years ago half of these dancers on abdc wouldn't have been considered "dancers", and their music would have not been considered "music" either
@shatteringglass100 Yes there is, because that not 100% dancing, their JUMP ROPING and incorporating a few dance moves in between, but since the show likes to have diversity in dancing styles on the show, they'll accept them off pure hype, because none of the dance moves they did were that good, or impressive, it was just the fact that they were jump roping that blew ppl's mind,..I'm not knocking Saltare Im sure tht shits really hard, but theres a huge difference, between dancing and jump roping

I think this is one of the most interesting and entertaing crews that has been on this show because they stand out more than majority of the other crews that have been on the show in the past . Indeed they are a jumproping crew. I don't know why people keep on saying that like no one sees that. They say all they do is jumprope and do tricks, however from what I see they dance along to the jumproping. There are different ways to express dance and it doesn't have to be regular fancy footwork.
@Ladynicole86 yes ill give em this they are good and they do it on beat..so if you wanna speak technicallity they "dance" but they dont really dance..they dont put emotion into it... and dancing is an art....if they can put more emotion than smilling into a jump roping routine then they should stay. but they cant. plain and simple thats why every other crew is better than them.
you guys have to realize that they can DANCE as well as jump. i know all of them personally and trust me, they can dance just as good as they can jump. they use ropes as a unique element and they must KEEP using the ropes as a requirement. they could do the normal dancing that ALL the other crews do but instead they challenge themselves to do something better and a lot more work. so for all you haters, get a life. saltare is a true ABDC team and rightfully deserve a spot on the show
I'd LOOOOVE to see ANY of the other dancers pick up a ROPE. Anyone can dance (proven by the mass amounts of people in the world who do so). . it takes real talent to put together choreography, rhythm, athleticism AND talent. . oh and a rope at the same time. Stop hatin and start appreciating-- this is a true art form and the other dance crews love it

If you want to go with this theory do you think figure skating should be banned from the olympics because that is dancing and not a sport. (In fact any team that does a flip a stunt is automatically considered non a dance group and therefore should be disqualified) We could just watch pure dancing would that make you happy. Saltare is like a quest cru or status quo (more trick based).

I'm talking about a DANCE SHOW. quest crew wasnt just flip oriented they were also dance oriented... with training from all forms of dance [since most of the team was on so you think you can dance] they combined their dance with tricks here and there to enhance their routine..they didnt totally rely on trick like saltare or status quo

@JSkunk22 not really cause between their power moves and stunts a lot of amazing style and floor work was there.. although there toprock seemed basic at times they were breakDANCING not just stunting.
Look at break dancing 30 or so years ago. People claimed that to NOT be considered dancing, but over the years it was accepted. What makes what Saltare does any different? It is done to music, it requires beat, rhythm, timing, passion, skill, dedication...yeah, what they do is dancing. If you put up barriers then dance won't grow, instead you'll be like the nay sayers who denounced breaking or hip hop or any other style that wasn't seen as "dance."
@fssXcali2323 valid point valid point.. well the point im coming from is that a sport like jump ropping inhibits movements, and saltare even admitted that "doing things without rope is hard." so when they actually have to dance do they really belong here? or do they belong on americas got talent?
I know it's original. But it's not dance. I've been dancing since I was five. Hip-Hop, Jazz, Ballet. And yeah, they can jump to a beat, and pull off a bunch of crazy stunts (which I'll admit are kind of cool)...but to me, it's not real choreography. Other than jumping rope and the stunts, I'm not seeing much dancing like the rest of the crews like Heavy Impact, or Hype 5-0. You know? Afterall, this is America's Best DANCE Crew.

oh! and to ohmyjonassssssssss down there: what do you mean the other crews don't get picked on as much as Saltare?? last night the judges gave them a warning, without any real criticism. the most i heard was from jc saying "this is what happens when you use a prop...be careful" other crews -the DANCE- crews get constructive criticism on their poppin, levels, etc. b/c those are elements of DANCE.
and also ohmyjonasssssss i do remember myself saying or at least implying that they are great with stunts and their good at what they do. but for this particular show...it just doesn't work. and if you say you'd like to see the other crews pull off what they could, i'd like to see them pull off some of the moves the other crews can do. properly and precisely.

I think this is one of the most interesting and entertaing crews that has been on this show because they stand out more than majority of the other crews that have been on the show in the past . Indeed they are a jumproping crew. I don't know why people keep on saying that like no one sees that. They say all they do is jumprope and do tricks, however from what I see they dance along to the jumproping. There are different ways to express dance and it doesn't have to be regular fancy footwork.

you guys have to realize that they can DANCE as well as jump. i know all of them personally and trust me, they can dance just as good as they can jump. they use ropes as a unique element and they must KEEP using the ropes as a requirement. they could do the normal dancing that ALL the other crews do but instead they challenge themselves to do something better and a lot more work. so for all you haters, get a life. saltare is a true ABDC team and rightfully deserve a spot on the show

I'd LOOOOVE to see ANY of the other dancers pick up a ROPE. Anyone can dance (proven by the mass amounts of people in the world who do so). . it takes real talent to put together choreography, rhythm, athleticism AND talent. . oh and a rope at the same time. Stop hatin and start appreciating-- this is a true art form and the other dance crews love it

I respect their rhythm, concentration and athleticism. Seriously, it's not an easy thing, and I sure as hell couldn't do it, but that's not the point. This is a DANCE show, and they don't dance!

yes we all appreciate what they do. about 100% of people who complain cant do what they do. including me. but they dont DANCE. and this is a DANCE show! they belong on Americas got talent. This just seems like another trophy for them. Their already internationally known. Other crews deserve this a hell of a lot more than they do. Not only that but they do have a set amount of moves that they have probably used in competitions before. So the only hard part for them to do is to actually dance

If you want to go with this theory do you think figure skating should be banned from the olympics because that is dancing and not a sport. (In fact any team that does a flip a stunt is automatically considered non a dance group and therefore should be disqualified) We could just watch pure dancing would that make you happy. Saltare is like a quest cru or status quo (more trick based).

I'm talking about a DANCE SHOW. quest crew wasnt just flip oriented they were also dance oriented... with training from all forms of dance [since most of the team was on so you think you can dance] they combined their dance with tricks here and there to enhance their routine..they didnt totally rely on trick like saltare or status quo

Look at break dancing 30 or so years ago. People claimed that to NOT be considered dancing, but over the years it was accepted. What makes what Saltare does any different? It is done to music, it requires beat, rhythm, timing, passion, skill, dedication...yeah, what they do is dancing. If you put up barriers then dance won't grow, instead you'll be like the nay sayers who denounced breaking or hip hop or any other style that wasn't seen as "dance."

i don't care what the judges say...jumping rope and double-dutch is NOT dancing!!!
and putting the ropes down to do two seconds of tutting doesn't count. especially when it's not done right.
and plus, they just messed up majorly during their "Shake It" performance trying to do choreo...needless to say: unsuccessful.

I know it's original. But it's not dance. I've been dancing since I was five. Hip-Hop, Jazz, Ballet. And yeah, they can jump to a beat, and pull off a bunch of crazy stunts (which I'll admit are kind of cool)...but to me, it's not real choreography. Other than jumping rope and the stunts, I'm not seeing much dancing like the rest of the crews like Heavy Impact, or Hype 5-0. You know? Afterall, this is America's Best DANCE Crew.

oh! and to ohmyjonassssssssss down there: what do you mean the other crews don't get picked on as much as Saltare?? last night the judges gave them a warning, without any real criticism. the most i heard was from jc saying "this is what happens when you use a prop...be careful" other crews -the DANCE- crews get constructive criticism on their poppin, levels, etc. b/c those are elements of DANCE.
