Too bad not a SINGLE gymnast today can come close to Olga's artistry, style and beauty. The new Code needs to be overthrown and somebody needs to get us back to real gymnastics. If I want to watch a bunch of muscle-bound warriors with their hair slicked back, I'll watch wrestling.
This is a lovely tribute to Olga...I loved the way she looked in Munich, as if she was having the time of her life during her floor routine. While I'm not knocking today's gymnasts, the girls have to do so may tricks and difficult moves to score points that most of them don't look like they are having FUN, and certainly don't dance much during their routines either. Olga had such a joyous expression on her face, like she was just running around playing...she was wonderful.
Renald Knysh was abusive to Olga. Psychologically,Physically and sexually. I am so amazed at how she overshadowed him. I felt sorry for her. He starved her and made sure she didn't eat food that she could have enjoyed. Most of these coaches were strict and mean to their gymnasts.
Many gymnasts since have been made into superstars, but Olga was the first. It was a lot to carry on her little shoulders, especially with all the other stuff she had to go through with her coach.
I love this comment. Well, no, you're nowhere near it, and neither was/is almost anybody else. Everybody talks about the "difficulty" today in the Code, but Olga was doing shit that today is banned and illegal to do in competitions because it is too dangerous. It's not a far stretch to say only Nadia was a better OVERALL gymnast.
When i was a little girl, nadia was my idol-Olga was a little before my time (although my family went to an exhibition of hers sometime in the 70's), but after seeing this I see what all the hype was about--she is just so graceful and fluid (more so than Nadia IMO, plus she has a wonderful charming face and personality. Wow, what a talent!!!! Thanks for posting this!

Olga only did one banned move, the Korbut flip on uneven bars.
And that was banned because stepping onto the high bar isn't allowed anymore. D:
It would be silly to ban that move for being dangerous without banning Jaegars and Giengers.
(Not hating, just saying T_T)
She is definitely my second favorite old time gymnast (second to Mukhina). I loved her style!!!
