To deselect, you can either use the Keyboard shortcut (Ctrl + D) or on the menu bar, hit "Select > Deselect".

Using the bracket keys, you can change the brush sizes quickly.

On your keyboard, look at the letter "P". The two keys to the right are called bracket keys, hit those keys and they will create [ and ] if you hold down shift.

that way u did it with the lasso tool is too hard, isnt there a way you can just use a brush to color in the eye with a new color? and pressing the alt key like you said did something really weird and the program had to close :s

on your layers palette there will be something that says normal and it looks like a drop down menu;

color is at the bottom of it;
