Down here, if we own a car that doesn't run, we have to have it licensed *and* insured. No yearly taxes, though; they cover that in the $75 / year cost of the tag.

Your system is different from ours... I could leave a car sitting outside on blocks for several years and come back to any place where they sell insurance to put it back on the road, and I have done that a couple of times... I wish I could have got that '87 Plymouth back from my mother because it still had less than 100,000 miles on it, but she got $100 for it when she traded it in on a Hyundai, which was enough to put plates on it... What a waste!

@1DRock37167 Daryl the doctor visit was okay. He said James' eye was doing better but the pressures in them is so high he is sending him to a specialist for tests. He sees a doctor in January, Feb. and then back to this doctor in April. He put James on drops. I hate taxes and the states and government are killing us with them. Yep.. you hang in there... We got some of the snow too. It didn't really stick other than making our steps slushy but it was exciting considering it was the first "official" snow fall. Hope you get all your things done. @sdl6570 Cooling/chilling the dough on some cookies just makes the dough easier to use. The peanut butter cookies are rolled between your hands in little balls and then rolled in sugar and then pressed down with a fork. It's easier to do that with the dough chilled and a little bit stiff. If the dough needs chilled the recipe will usually tell you to do so. Hope that helps you. Hugs!

You get taxed to death in the state where we live, planning on moving away once hubby retires from his job (still a while); don't know how senior citizens manage here. I HATE those metal detectors! I had to go through one every time I left a building at one of my contract sites. I carry so many metal things on me, when I'm on the job, it would take 20 minutes to take them all off. I just made the guard wand me. It took a lot less time.

Oh yes, you do have to pay taxes on the car. I believe if you surrender the plates, you can get by not doing that. However, I think it costs more to re-register it

@popparoc46 I made 4 different kinds of cookies/bars... peanut butter cookies. honey doodles, English toffee bars and Lemon curd bars. I was cookin'!! haha Roc we have to pay real estate and personal property taxes every year. Doesn't matter if you own everything out right... the government taxes us every year... and it can run into 1000's of dollars. Ours is around 800 or 900 dollars this year. Very cheap compared to some states. Next year it will be way more. .... more...

Hi , allthat baking is nice, Christmas at our house was always big, house parties, travels to tropical lands, baking, relatives visiting, then, when myh parents were older, things quieted down, Ithink it was the sign of the times, and my mother had a friend who baked, lots of cookies like you do, and each Christmas they exchanged gifts, a group of ladies did, and this lady would always pack the nicest tin of cookies! That was the best present Ithink! I cook a cheddar cheese bread, HappyHOlidays!

I HATE those metal detectors! I had to go through one every time I left a building at one of my contract sites. I carry so many metal things on me, when I'm on the job, it would take 20 minutes to take them all off. I just made the guard wand me. It took a lot less time.

@EdElisea Ed, no needle today for James. The doctor said his eye was doing some better but the pressure is way high so he has to go get some MORE tests run! *sigh* Oh my.. I can see why you hate metal detectors!! haha. Hugs!

Girl you are going to be BUSY with all that baking. We have not decided what we are making. I did make the decision on the three breads we are making for the neighbors.
I hope James doesn't get his eye suck with a needle either. That really blocks.
Oh yes, you do have to pay taxes on the car. I believe if you surrender the plates, you can get by not doing that. However, I think it costs more to re-register it

@silverscreamgrl No needle for James today. The doctor said his eye is some better but the pressure is high so more tests. The car had no plates on it for 2 years and we still had to pay taxes on it! I don't understand it... but I should.. it's all about the Benjamins! haha. The snow came and went. Just the way I like it. haha. Hugs girl!

Ooooo, yummy, yummy! They all sound so good! Aww, you have snow! I'm hoping we get a little bit this year. We don't get snow very often. Poor James! I sure hope his eye clears up and gets better real soon. I've had something weird going on in my right eye lately. A couple of floaters and some flashes of light. When my kids were small i used to bake a LOT for christmas, but i dont bake at all anymore, cookies Yum\ Fudge even yummier! i miss fudge.

Lots of cookies and bars you are making! If I lived close by, I'd come and help, as long as you would tell me what to do. What a rigamarole to go through to get that car back on the road. Who knew you had to pay a tax! What is the tax for? Other than renewing the plates and insurance, we don't pay a TAX, or is it a 'resale' tax? And you set the metal detectors off?? @popparoc46 I made 4 different kinds of cookies/bars... peanut butter cookies. honey doodles, English toffee bars and Lemon curd bars. I was cookin'!! haha Roc we have to pay real estate and personal property taxes every year. Doesn't matter if you own everything out right... the government taxes us every year... and it can run into 1000's of dollars. Ours is around 800 or 900 dollars this year. Very cheap compared to some states. Next year it will be way more. .... more...

Hi , allthat baking is nice, Christmas at our house was always big, house parties, travels to tropical lands, baking, relatives visiting, then, when myh parents were older, things quieted down, Ithink it was the sign of the times, and my mother had a friend who baked, lots of cookies like you do, and each Christmas they exchanged gifts, a group of ladies did, and this lady would always pack the nicest tin of cookies! That was the best present Ithink! I cook a cheddar cheese bread, HappyHOlidays!
