muay thai superior to other martial arts I love it I've trained in it but no, real karate would be considered dirty fighting as they will not hesitate to hit vital points..japanese kickboxing looks like its father muay thai and is effective also.. all martial arts are good and its the person that makes the difference...

@blackout620505 I train MMA, and have for almost 6 years now. I have been in the cage and we have a lot of Karate guys that come in to the MMA class to spar, or our Thai classes. I just see MT dominate karate guys constantly. I think the tricks are cool and all, but for a realistic fighting art I am going to take MT every time. I also have a job where I fight with people constantly, and MT helps so much there. I also train under a Dutch instructor.

@Benochi well you see, in the cage there are rules, and like karate says, it is for self defense, so if there were no rules than surely the muay thai artist would have a little trouble, but its obvious the rules are muay thai's best game, thats why it is chosen because more easy to use when theres rules, and in asia its diffrent, there are no rules and many MMA fighters came to challenged the chinese and lost just "FACT"

@blackout620505 Did you miss the part about my job? I have had far more street fights with weapons than I have in the cage. I have survived, with my hands, getting shot at from within 5 ft. Have you done that? MMA training is incredibly beneficial and I don't have a hesitation that would come with a lot of people that aren't fighting on a regular basis. Show me when MMA guys lost to the chinese. Remember MMA didn't have many rules at it's beginning and there are still no rules in some.

To try and tell me a Karate guy could stop a world class wrestler from taking him down is literally retarded. I wouldn't say a MT guy could do that, because he couldn't. I'm sure Brock Lesnar (as much as I hate him) could take down every single person in China and put them on their back. But seeing as your style isn't tested as often I'm sure you're right.

@blackout620505 I know it's Japanese, your comment stated that the Chinese were dominating MMA guys... I think you have a reading comprehension issue, you fail to correctly read what I clearly write. Knowing about an art doesn't mean that you are any good at it. Skills matters, yes, but not all combat forms are equal. I believe MT is superior and I will believe that until someone comes along and proves otherwise to me.

@blackout620505 Also, as for it's origin it's not recorded how it came about. It could have been invented by the military. I have been told it's thousands of years old, and recorded history just doesn't say. Knowing something's origin isn't necessary to use it though and since I train under a Dutch instructor, he doesn't teach the Thai style as much. But what he does teach works every time I use it, against Karate guys, Boxers, and MMA guys. Still waiting to see the Chinese guys names.

If you're ever in Colorado, let me know I would be more than happy to spar with you at any level of contact you prefer. I would even be happy to leave out my grappling. I am 28 and have been training for a very long time, so no problems there. Depending on your weight it could be unfair though.
