  • I love his use of the echo pedal.

  • Big Sur Moon ò.ò

  • now put offthe effect... so we know what ur REALLY playing XD

  • He is clearly good...but he would be a genius if...Eddie Van Halen hadn't done this before on Cathedral.

  • @clap67 It's uncanny how similar the two songs sound isn't it? Must have been his "inspiration". VH FTW! Wish I had the money to go see the bastards in Atlanta...

  • I played this video on Google Chome, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox at the same time but each browser's video was not synchronized... and wow!! it sounded awesome. Paul Gilbert is god!

  • @Akshayjustdoit ....Ever heard of tabs?

  • @Ozmega11 I'm addicted to tabs! lol

  • @Akshayjustdoit I meant browser tabs. You don't need to open every browser.

    Or I just misinterpreted it.

  • @Ozmega11 Google chrome is slow these days so that's why i chose to open 3 different browsers.

  • @Akshayjustdoit Whoa. Just did it. That is insane.

  • @kioshiRawk It blew my mind! BTW You're welcome :)

  • haha yeah suck on that the edge you pathetic excuse for a guitarist! fuck you to bono!!

  • @jedmaster111 The edge is quite a good guitarist... not sure why everyone is hating on him.... Paul gilbert is of course much better technically, but as musicians, few make my hair stand up like the Edge...

  • how to set your delay to get this kind of effect? you need a certain time setting (same bpm as song?)?

  • Comment removed

  • They need a "this is my favorite video on YouTube" button.

  • 2:32 OHH MY GOD... A SLIGHT MISTAKE!!! SO HE IS HUMAN!!!

  • Imagine having Paul Gilbert as a teacher. No wonder buckethead can play hahaha

  • Notice the distinct similarities between this and Van Halen's `Cathedral'?

  • Wow amazing. It's a mystical, magical, whirlwind spiral of notes. Beautiful.

  • whoa

  • maybe paul gilbert is buckethead :O

  • @masterCm Man PG was his teacher, its rather the opposite

  • @masterCm Buckethead wishes. :P

  • How come everything he plays is so fuckin hard.

  • BUCKETHEADDD

  • @xlukatsx

RIGHT ON !!! most know wher BH got some of his influence, well here's friggin OBI WAN

  • BOSS DD-3

  • he's got to be using a repeater, maybe a boss unit,, because he's not using his other 4 fingers of his right hand, and his pick would be doing 16th notes, but he's not!

  • @geetarnut well yeah... it's called a echo delay, hence "the echo song" title

  • @geetarnut Moron

  • "Flight of the Wounded Bumble-Bee" off of Pornograffitti by Extreme. Single feedback delay.

  • The delay song?

  • I know, dude's got some long fingers and when he's shreddin' the pinky and the ring are going crazy.

  • this is definitley reminiscent of big sur moon for me

  • @afrojamaica well seeing that PG taught buckethead then yes

  • @afrojamaica yeah it is, but "big sur moon" is way easier to play ;o)

  • his pinky is as long as my middle finger...

  • Can anyone tell me what specific type of delay he's using?

  • @norwoodpearson either a boss dd3 or dd7 I have a dd7 it doesn't really matter though. The dd7 has a couple more features that could be useful however.

  • @robzbobz Thanks!

  • @norwoodpearson no problem

  • A real, authentic dude that uses 100% of the talent he lucked out with, I love Paul Gilbert.

  • 50 Dislikers are fan of Bieber

  • @12345darwin NEVER BRING UP BIEBER WHILE WATCHING PAUL GILBERT.

    "no... okay... go..." xD

  • Big Sur Moon

  • his hand teleports on different positions of the neck

  • sounds like Buckethead /: strange

  • @morehenhotmail Paul Gilbert was Buckethead's teacher for over a year, that is where the similarities come from.

  • @yourmomsfavoriteguy1 yeah I already knew, I just wanted to have thumbs up haha

  • @morehenhotmail paul gilbert taught buckethead.

  • 3:26 - 3:36 Best 10 seconds of this song

  • look at the size of that pinky.

  • @stuffemburgers yah his pinky as long as all my fingers combined...........pinky from heaven.......

  • @stuffemburgers i know its like the size of my middle finger

  • @stuffemburgers

You probably dont know it yet but let me tell you !

    U R GAY !

  • @stuffemburgers too bad paul gilbert played bass for the band " the electric fence "

thats why his pinky is big thats why ppl say play 4-5 string bass b4 playing'/'?"'?oddd time to clean my-- guitar

  • i can do that ... uh, i just don't feel like it. ;D

  • This song is soooooo amazing!!!!! Really incredible!!!! :)

  • Is he using a Ibanez SG? :O

  • Ive never seen a Ibanez 3 pickups SG custom /set neck..extremely rare mint condition

  • @wisesatyr72 My local guitar shop had one, not mint condition though... Great fun to play

  • Reminds me of Buckethead's Big sur moon

  • soooooo nice

  • Suck on that shit U2 lmao

  • @megafan0258 i almost feel as though, if the edge didn't pave the way for the use of effects like delay, maybe paul gilbert or a million other guitarists wouldnt have used delay in these same ways. i don't like how a lot of people bash the edge, because he has made more contributions to the guitar, and influenced more guitarists then a lot of virtuoso's even. although paul is a way better guitarist, I think the edge doesnt play guitar, he plays music, and i love his approach

  • @cachetband yeah. i don't think he was being that serious.

  • I Love how people have to argue about anything and everything. Wht is there such a need to prove your point?, especially in a forum where you will never meet the person! can't we all just agree that without MUSIC, in whatever form, our lives would be very dull???

  • This video isn't of Buckethead, it's of Paul Gilbert. So let's just not argue about Buckethead, okay? Okay.

  • This is actualy the same effect that buckethead used on Big sur moon

  • What an ingenious way to show how far a little effect will take you song. Amazing composition by my favorite living guitarist

  • Paul Gilbert taught Buckethead, end of discussion.

  • @GordonFreeman1923 he didn't just teach him they worked togetehr buckethead was about 19 at the time he has surpassed his "teacher" if that's what you call him but even paul glibert would tell you that

  • Mmm, easy shit, thanks to the effects he is a '"good" guitar player, lmfao!

  • @Basoria85 He's not good, he's godlike.

  • @Nowimlaughingloud Mmm, the thing is that electric guitarist cause a good sensations and emotions because of the effects they produce, but he can definitely not play any other type of music, and the video on which he's playing "flamenco" is the proof of that, his hands are way to tense, and that he's playing is nothing but a beginners exercise.

  • @Basoria85 im sure jacking off to alejandro fernandez is better for you.

  • @1251wire Lmfao! nah he's good to being drinking tequila, but Paco de Lucia may cause me an orgasm, not this due, but yeah sure keep on liking effects and not good guitar playing.

  • @Basoria85 you're probably think El Tri & Moderatto" are heavy metal, anyway check out something more your cup of tea BY paul gilbert , "Paul Gilbert - Flamenco Acoustic Guitar", so you won't say he's just effects.

You seem to be a smart guy, but when you say, "keep on liking effects and not good guitar playing." is unjust and by the way Carlos Montoya cleans the inside of his grave with Paco de Lucia's mom's underwear.

Just busting your balls friend, and yes el potrillo is a great singer.

  • @1251wire The video you said sucks, his hands are way to tense, that's nothing but a beginners exercise for flamenco guitar...yeah Montoya is awesome way better than this guy Paul, and so is Segovia, and Yapes, Peña and Sor, and Tárregas, even and you can name it...and sure I don't like Spanish rock, specially Mexican, the only ones I like are Caifanes at their time, Jaguares, and Maná, even though you'll say they are not rock. So who's busting his balls dude, hahaha...

  • @Basoria85 "this guy paul" owns everything, even just winging a flemenco song because he got bored and decided to master a different genre. id like to see those spiks you mention play technical difficulties or get out of my yard

  • @gojirametallica Lmfao and more lmfao!

  • @Basoria85 Man, are you trolling or what? xD

  • @Nowimlaughingloud nah, just saying that is very funny how people get stupid with this when the only thing good about these "musicians" are their pedals.

  • @Basoria85 Man, he isn't hiding-behind-effects-kinda guitarist. Look at other videos...

  • @Basoria85 You don't deserve eyes or ears.

  • @Basoria85 You don't DESERVE to listen to this man play. You know what, you don't deserve to even have ears. You ignorant, ignorant person. Comparing musicians that obviously play different music genres, and you dare to insult a virtuoso guitarist? The fact that you said "keep on liking effects and not good guitar playing" shows how absolutely ignorant you very much are. Talented artists like this man don't deserve to be intruded by such trash. How juvenile.

  • @Insertreplyhere hahaha and you don't deserve to have a head, because you obviously don't have brains, I never compared anyone, and what he does is just play with scales, such and easy thing to do, but yeah how juvenile is to think thrash like you, and believe he's awesome, hahaha...

  • @Basoria85 You don't deserve ears.

  • @Basoria85 Everything EVERY musician EVER does is play scales, moron.

  • @TheDancingSaxophone not at all true. maybe alot of guitarists do but CERTAINLY not every musician.

  • @b0njov1 No, every musician. Because every musical thing played is based on a scale, be it chromatic, lydian, mixolydian, whole-tone, octatonic, etc. It's the same 11 notes. Even chords are based on those scales and, as such, are in essence scales. If he said scale runs I couldn't make my statement, but he said scales.

  • @TheDancingSaxophone have you ever gone outside the world of rock music and looked back at earlier music? go check out old ancient music, 20th century music, whatever it be. NOT all music/musicians is based on scales. if you really have the audacity to say that all music is scales, then i have a few suggestions for you: Philomel by Milton Babbit. Fontana Mix by John Cage. 4'33" by John Cage. you can say this stuff is not music but you obviously havent studied music enough.

  • @b0njov1 Chill out, man. It'll all be alright, no need to blow a gasket. Most of the pieces/composers you listed go against conventional definitions of music. For instance, the three movement piece 4:33 was 'composed' with a tacet on all movements, so there is no sound (other than the turning of pages) other than the random sounds of the audience and musicians- coughs, sneezes, murmuring, etc. The disorganization of such goes against the conventional definition of music as "organized sound."

  • @TheDancingSaxophone well the actual definition of music is "periods of sound and silence to give a desired effect", so in essence, 4.33 is actually a form of music (as many, like myself would argue it is). however, if you were referring to the "conventional" definition of music today like pop, rock, even maybe rap, then yes, most of the music comes from scales. it does depend on what music you refer to, though.

  • mt loco!

  • Even if Buckethead is technically better than Paul, who has more innovation, has more fame? Most importantly, who TAUGHT Buckethead? That's right, Paul Gilbert does and did.

  • @dpucci0493 I still like Buckethead better...

  • @GodlessShredder bucket head can succk head, paul is the shit

  • @gojirametallica I love PG, I just like Buckethead better. Paul's music is alright, it's just too... casual. If you listen to Buckethead's albums (and not just his live showboating), you can tell that he really puts his heart and soul into each note.

  • @GodlessShredder Paul is funny without a lame costume, and taught Buckethead how to play. HE is the obiwan and buckethead is like anakin but with a stupid costume. actually paul is like boba fett a badass.

  • @gojirametallica But Anakin killed Obiwan... Like, seriously, he cut him in half. And Boba Fett was decapitated by a black dude with a pink glowstick.

Lol, I still like Buckethead's music better, even if Paul can play faster. Sorry =P

  • @GodlessShredder obi alowed himself to be killed, boba was eaten by the sarlaac but later kills it you are thinking of jango. and it's called a lightsaber. I like paul he just owns

  • @GodlessShredder actually Buckethead is more like michael bay, all style no substance

  • @gojirametallica You obviously haven't listened to ANY of his music beyond his live showboating. There's no shredding whatsoever on any of his albums. Listen to Too Many Humans, Race to Inbred Mountain, or really any song by Buckethead and you'll find PLENTY of substance.

  • @GodlessShredder i was joking bucket head is cool, calm down. i prefer paul

  • @gojirametallica Hard to tell in a typed comment when someone's joking, lol =P

  • @GodlessShredder i know, it's really hard to convey tone

  • Nice!

  • @mrharpania it sounds cools thats all

  • Is like signos - soda stereo

  • Really amazing.

  • sorry guys, paul gilbert is a fuken amazing guitarist, but this one is lost on me... nothing too spectacular, just runnin through some scales with an echo/delay effect on.

  • In Paul We Trust!!

  • how do write something like this ?!?!?!

  • @SuperSkaterkid96 Imagination, dexterity, love for music and playing.

  • @Jamsessionroom1337 And delay. lots of it :P

  • buckethead- big sur moon

  • @drumafreak19 ok.... thanks for sharing that..

  • @drumafreak19 This is the Echo Song by Paul Gilbert, whats your point?

  • @Lavalole my point is it sounds like big sur moon.

  • @drumafreak19 big sur moon is better..;-)..

  • @frabs91 haha yeah definetly this is nothing compared to buckethead

  • @frabs91 big sur moon wouldnt exist without this man lulz

  • @ismelljello this sounds like Cathedral by Van Halen..whats your point?..;-) they both use delay and fast playing, but there aren't other similitarities..but big sur moon is still better..sorry for my bad english..

  • Now ive got 3 humbuckers.. which one should I select..

  • That's how it's done boys!!! no need of expensive delay pedal, it's all about the power of fingers.

  • @RayuanGomball Actually Boss DD series are not the cheapest ones. But they are the best choice for anything, though. I myself had Boss DD-7 - one of the best purchases I've ever made.

  • asparagus fingers

  • This is my porn

  • Mirko

  • i started out with a guitar in my hand, learned a cpl new songs this morning, felt good about it. clicked this.... 15 secs later, put pick between strings and put guitar down for the day. you feel like you accomplish so much at times, then you see someone like this who just destroys your feeble efforts

  • out standing playing.

  • what's guitar?

  • It's not the guitar;it's the player! This guy could make a K-Mart special sound good! Having said that a good student model instrument is a must if you're just starting out. Don't buy your guitars from K-Mart!

  • Alguien sabe decirme el nombre del video de donde ha salido este fragmento?

  • are you Buckethead?

  • @dsouzand he teached buckethead

  • @dsouzand Nah, Paul Gilbert actually plays guitar.

  • wow!

  • no han notado que todo el video se queda en demonstration # 1

  • BIG SUR MOON VS THE ECHO SONG

  • @0adireita Comparison idiot! like you ...

  • @doom666kratos da onde que isso foi uma comparação sua mula?

  • @0adireita Pra piorar, o cara é Brasileiro... ignoro.

  • Ni el mismisimo chamin correa podria tocar algo tan bello como esto!!!!

  • He's channeling his inner Edge for this one?

  • The Delay Settings ?

  • @RafaelLuhrs

Dotted 8th note. Really just find a setting your comfortable with. The disciplined staccato is what really brings this effect out.

  • perfeito o0

  • WHAT GUITAR IS HE USING??? PLEASE... SOMEBODY ASNWER??

  • @ELECTRICguitarDUDE79 Gibson SG
