In fact , they also wrote for Marvin Gaye, Mary Wells, The Contours, The Marvelettes, and the great majority of the Temptations' early hits were written by The Miracles too. Yet, today, The Temptations get more credit for singing those songs than The Miracles get for writing them in the first place.

Stax gave us the hard core "I haven't seen you in a long time so lets get busy" kind of appeal, but Motown gave a "lets take it slow" appeal. Listen at 1:19-1:30 with the horns. The intro on "I Want a Love I Can See" by the Temptations strikes me the same way. Motown was music for a young generation because it was sultry & American wanted to get away from the stuffiness of the 50"s

I remember this song, the first time I heard it was on Sesame Street. It had something to do with the letter of the day. I really love Smokey Robinson because his music is so versatile.
