  • Just came back for a refresher course on Smokey's hits. Got tickets to see him in Vegas next week, can't wait. Big deal for a die hard rocker that's now a senior citizen !!!

  • I'm just an old redneck white guy, it's a shame we see in color 'cause music takes the color out of it, Smokey, Barry, Marvin...some of the very best ever! Elvis was pretty good too.

  • Well spoken....

  • @BeatlesFobe

I loveeee the Zombies. What I know of their version of You Really Got A Hold On Me that they did a medley of You Really Got A Hold On Me/Bring it on home to me

  • > 10 stars ( ********** ) PRICELESS <

  • Have any of you guys heard The Zombies version from the 60's?

  • that explains everything, Pak Man

  • The original Boys II Men. :)

  • @Bilderbeam

    True ahaha

  • This always reminds me of the sesame street skit.

  • Smokey's the man.

  • Im 30, and have no clue who Haley is...

This is the sht...black, white or brown...music of heaven...

  • oh baby just hold me <3

  • here because of haley :D

  • i miss when people performed in suits

  • they are writers?

  • @GedopPa Yes, The Miracles were ALL writers, not just Smokey. In fact , they were the ONLY Motown group during the Sixties that wrote their own material. In fact , they also wrote for Marvin Gaye, Mary Wells, The Contours, The Marvelettes, and the great majority of the Temptations' early hits were written by The Miracles too. Yet, today, The Temptations get more credit for singing those songs than The Miracles get for writing them in the first place.

  • @williamg2552 yeah thanks... when i hear this song a imagine The Beatles... :)

  • Goddamn these men are badass. It's a shame how under-appreciated they are.

  • WHO GIVES A FUCK WHAT RACE THESE VATOS ARE? ITS GOOD MUSIC, AND THATS DAT...

  • Forealz u do isabel

  • U really got a hold on me

  • @samtiification omg lol

  • Can't everybody just enjoy the great music and shut the blank up with all of your racist garbage?

  • True old Jackson was a dick, but not all blacks were slaves some were free men too. Free to fulfill manifest destiny.

  • Great song, great performance.

  • yee feelinq this right know L O V E iit :)

  • @mrstanbmw hey asshole I'm a native American and both whites and blacks have taken over my people's land. I can't be a bigot, I'm a minority. I take advantage of that all the time. The only racists can be those white people anyway.

  • @117glenn blacks did not take over your land, only the whites. Eventually the blacks were able to get land, but they did not force the natives off their land. You can thank the man on the $20 dollar bill for that.

  • this song actually brings tears to my eyes!!

  • I'll be born 200 years from now and I love this.

  • i wonder why do ppl always tell us their age and say they love the song, btw im 21 and i love this song

  • I'm not even born yet, and I dig it too!

  • I'm 2 years old and I love this music

  • I'm 12 years old and he's the best singer ive ever heard

  • i wonder if guys in the audience ever scream like the girls do.

  • 27 people are going to hell

  • @89arnburg

There ain't no heaven and there ain't no hell. No God, no Devil - none of that bs is real - so get real.

But these "dislike" people are in version of hell on earth if they can't hear the heart-grabbing beauty of this sublime song

  • Who the hell is Haley Reinhart?

  • R.I.P. to Miracles member MARV TARPLIN. You will indeed be missed.

  • Hey mrstanbmw how about you shut the fuck about race I'm sick of it. You could also argue that white people are civilized, while blacks are just tribal, dumbass mother fuckers. But I won't because race doesn't matter.

  • @117glenn Thanx for making my point, and I couldn't make the point about all white being civilized you are a prime of example you bigot.

  • I came here because I wanted to. Fuck your reasons ¬¬'

  • I came here because of "Flipped".

  • @DeanNickChase me too! :))

  • I originally thought that The Beatles wrote this song until I heard it by these guys!

  • @thetubkins Yes, THE MIRACLES recorded it first, and Smokey wrote the song, not any of the Beatles. This song was the Miracles 2nd million-seller (after "Shop Around") and in 1998 their original version was inducted into THE GRAMMY HALL OF FAME.

  • THAT CHOREOGRAPHY IS AWESOME!!!! LOOK HOW SMOKIE SWITCH THAT MIC FROM ONE HAND TO THE NEXT......SO DARN SMOOTH!! TAKE NOTICE YOUNG BUCKS... (1:21 AND 1:29) OMGosh!!

  • i absolutely LOVEEE this songg :D

  • yea that haley chick cant sing this for shit thats for sure always stick to the orig artist and the beatles plz overrated

  • You white folks better would be in a cultral wasteland if it wasn't for the contribution of black folks all over the world. Go to any Continent where we are white folks will end up trying to do our music because as Dyke said We Got More Soul., So those of you who are here because of the Beatles and whoever you are listening the original.

  • @mrstanbmw ummmm. I heard this song before I liked the beatles. You are correct. WHites have ripped off Jazz, blues, rock n roll, rap, hip hop and R and B (all created by blacks and that is phenomenal. I support blacks in every way possible and I am not black or white. I am mexican. But I came here for music. Beatles are rip offs by the way. Race should not be involved in this no more, it should just be recognized that blacks have a landmark in all music.

  • @mrstanbmw wow sir, you need to relax. The Beatles were way more popular than The Miracles; that's why people usually get to hear their version first but that doesn't deny the fact that this is the original version and a classic one. I recall an interview where Smokey said the Beatles did it better whereas John Lennon acknowledged Smokey Robinson as one of his favourite artists. If they didn't have any problem with each other then who the fuck are you? Oh and btw, I'm not white; I'm a Pakistani.

  • I'm here cuz of The Beatles. :)

  • @raintalonwindclan Im here cuz of music.

  • haley who... what a load of crap she could be good but way too gimmicky in her version forget the overdubs and echo and growly and mariah shit just sing it from the heart ike smokey or the beatles

  • Shit, Smokey Robinson brought me here...

  • Haley brought me here

  • 28 people have never been in love... Shiiit

  • I am here because of Haley Reinhart. She song builtfull.

  • I actually liked this song before Haley, who'd of thought?

  • @RadulaKisses Who the fuck is Haley?

  • @RollinIsland is a american idol contestan (my favorite all time) who sang this ong on motown week. Haley reinhart!

  • .......

  • Did they just stanky leg at 1:20 and 1:26?! Lmao!! Jk..whatever it was, it was smooth! This is good music!!

  • @ryannp1 Haha! I was thinkin that too!! And folks thought they invented something new... Smokey been stanky leggin it since the 50's lol (or whenever this was, lol)

  • Comment removed

  • @ 0.55 the guy on the far left looks like kanye west.lol

  • @BeauHappiHealz...I'm offended by that comment and I'm white!!

  • @RacheliciousTreats sowie :(

  • I find The best wriiten and anazing songs came from Blacks :)

  • @BeauHappiHealz really dude? the blacks? As a member of the "Blacks" which is politically incorrect and ignorant to say...im offended thanx love.

  • @TheBrazilybrazily I'm really sry, i'm nt racist lol. So de correct term is African Americans? I wasn't tryin 2 b ignorant... I'm jus statin tat alot of gr8 sngs hv been made by dem and alot of gr8 artists hv covered dem. If u'l correct me wats de rite term dan i'l noe n will nt use again :).

  • what year was this performance?

  • my ex said i don't like u but i love, thieff stole it from smokey. glad we're divorced

  • Saying that Beatles voices weren't amazing could only mean to things- You don't really know their music [ listen to Paul Mccartney songs, from Let it Be, or Abbey Road. Guy may be a douche sometimes, but his voice is amazing. ] Or just really hate the guys from the band.

When I hear someone saying that they weren't amazing, my blood boils XD I don't say they're the best in the world, everyone has it's own taste, even though for me they are. Sorry for spamming~

    Peace and Love Smokey fans~

  • Oh, come on > >'

I'm more into Beatles to, but isn't that pretty obvious, that you won't convince anybody Beatles version is good, saying that it's better than their favourite band's.

They're both amazing, they're just not the same.

I like Beatles version, because I love the way John's voice sounds, not just because I thing that every voice except for John's suck.

    This version is adorable too.

  • This is live. You can't beat this with a stick, much less a beatle. And they only gave them one mike. Talk about trying to sabotage this performance. Didn't work.

  • Do you see The Miracles working it out in the back ?

That's Cholly Atkins handiwork (Cholly Atkins is the LEGENDARY Motown Choreorgrapher who did work for the Temptations, the Four Tops, and others)

smokey's vocals are LIVE. So are the BGV !!!!!

  • Bob Dylan called Smokey Robinson America's Greatest Poet

  • Such a classic. I don't think I'll ever get over this song ever haha:)

  • i knew this song is originally by smokey robinson but i never had heard it. i think is a beautiful song and the performance is beautiful and only one.

  • This is so good!

  • Sesame Street blew my seven year old mind with this song.

  • they come close. but as we all know.. The Beatles are thee best.!

these guys are amazing though.! :D

  • absolutely brilliant in every way.

  • The Host at the beginning looks exactly like Chris Colfer!

  • I guess that are somepeople who doesn't understand that the Beatles cover was(still is!) their way to pay tribute to Smokey and the Miracles. I do think that this song is awesome by Smokey, nevertheless the Beatles cover is also superb, which by a white group is to say a lot. So... everyone stop making a contes about who's best on this...enjoy the music, damn!!!!

  • @gazuaman AMEN.

  • YOU BETTA GET IT SMOKEY!

  • Two children later...Smokey thanks...

  • i love this song ^^ and anyone else think the host is hot?

  • Love this and the beatles version. If only I was born in the right generation

  • @ACX352395 i know how you feel

it sucks being stuck with nothing but crappy music like justi beiber laddy CACA and all those other people who use synthesizers and all that other crap.

  • Smokey Robinson is awesome. John, Paul & George sang this song fabulously, but couldn't have sung it, without Mr. Robinson WRITING it.. What a genius!

    THANKS!

  • I love the beatles but you have to be smoking crack to think their version is better.

  • America's greatest living poet with a voice like an angel the pulls and falls on the chorus send shivers down my back and back again - sweet

  • i love smokey robinson voice.

  • Are they doin the Philly Dog? looks like to me.

  • LuV it...........

  • Haley Reinhart gave an overflowing justice for this one. Good Job! :)

  • They got moves. :D

  • i'm listening to this song because of Haley Reinhart :D

  • @mrpark505 you are a loser then

  • theoriginal and the beatles are very good in my opinion they are equals. Though Smokey Robinson gets credit for the song which i think is excellent

  • Haley Reinhart made me love this song

  • @truongphan90 fuk haley

  • SO BEAUTIFUL... QUE BUENA COREOGRAFIA MUY SUTIL.... Y HERMOSA LA CANCION... LA ESCUCHE DE LOS BEATLES Y ESTA ME PARECE SUPER FANTANTICA

  • I straight up love this song ..

  • The Black Beatles......I mean, on early days

  • They look like dwarves...

  • jkeyes 'S right. The Beatles are the Beatles, Smokey is Smokey, & so on & so on, etc

  • This is when music was good!

  • >> MASTERPIECE & PRICELESS <<

  • saw Smokey and the Miracles at Central Park when Schaeffer Beer produced some great summer shows. Central Park always sponsored great shows: James Brown, Dionne Warwicke, Mongo Santamaria, Herbie Mann and a young guitarist named Sonny Sharaa(?)

  • Watching them dance just makes me smile :)

    This is awesome!

  • A great great song. Loved this version and the Beatles version too. Smokey has such a unique voice. Wayne

  • Motown gave their songs a sultry sex appeal that really hadn't been heard of before. Stax gave us the hard core "I haven't seen you in a long time so lets get busy" kind of appeal, but Motown gave a "lets take it slow" appeal. Listen at 1:19-1:30 with the horns. The intro on "I Want a Love I Can See" by the Temptations strikes me the same way. Motown was music for a young generation because it was sultry & American wanted to get away from the stuffiness of the 50"s

  • I remember this song, the first time I heard it was on Sesame Street. It had something to do with the letter of the day. I really love Smokey Robinson because his music is so versatile.

  • I VE BEEN LISTENING TO SMOKEY AND THE MIRACLES SINCE I WAS 14 AND I KEEP LISTENING TO THEM.

  • SMOKEY U AND THE MIRACLES HAD A HOLD ON ME SINCE I WAS 14 I WONT LET YOU KNOW HOW OLD I AM KNOW BUT ITS CLOSE TO 21 LOL

  • ... ist eine Beatles-Nummer ... ist es nicht .. ? *gg

  • Thanks ellie the doctor detroit sez Mwah! to @209esperanza

  • 19 year old Jamie old school ;) friends think I'm lame Lmao :P :):):):):)

  • @candyybirdy My friends think I'm lame too, and I'm 17. I think, "Screw them." They don't know good music.

  • Smokey and Sam Cooke- best voices of their time no doubt. Steve

  • Love Smokey and the miracles but Haley Reinhard did it better.

  • I thaught i loved this song before. but daaaaaaamn once Haley Reinhart sang it i knew i would be cruzin to this with a fat blunt burnin up!!Chopped and screwed of coarse! chek out Haley Reinhart's first remix!!!

  • My dad called this screwing music -- as the not so subtle stage props attest!

  • Smokey couldn't dance for sh@t but he was the master with the lyrics.

  • he sounds like a goat ewwwwww :*

  • Those first piano notes always get me right in the heart. No one will ever top Smokey!

  • This is where its at. Dont look at the 24 dislikes..... There will always be that divide between real music and what people try to pass off as music. Im 25, and I yearn for those days

  • @wcgator1996 i hear ya

  • never forget motown! JUST HOLD ME! :)

  • So smooth!

  • So smooth!

  • Every time we hear this song all I hear is the kids singing to it...Glad they know great music!!!

  • That's what I'm talking about

  • Alright this song can really get a hold of memories

  • How about givin' it up for The Funk Brothers!

  • Motown will always rule! You will NEVER top this sound EVER!

  • Happy Birthday Smokey & Bobby

  • JIMMY ONEAL K.R.L.A

  • EXCELLENT

  • lol the miracles look so cute in the b/g dancing away! <3

ah, i love this song so much...

  • I LOVE IT

  • Why folks get on here and say the beatles is the best? Put that on the Beatles site then...if thats the one you like best...this site is for Smokey and The Miracles!!!

  • @RememberSoCal That's a little to far now.

  • @ThoseRandomAsians god forbid i make a rude comment towards the beatles

  • @RememberSoCal WOW MAN TOO FAR THEY'RE THE BEST

  • @meatloaf928 ok fine. i said that just to get a reaction. although i wouldnt go so far as to say theyre the best.... definately good, but overrated i think.

  • @jkeyes59 I hear ya but lets not fight over good great music cuz this music will always be better than whats going today !

  • @jkeyes59 I think both are the shit. They sound perfect by themselves in their own way, and I like both of the versions.

  • @jkeyes59 beatles is good but no soul.

  • @jkeyes59 dude, cmon.... im actually happy this is not a shakira vs. lady gaga fight..... this feels a lot better.... the beatles vs. smokey robinson.... hahaha.... feels so good...

  • @jkeyes59 Its like the Beatles get treated the way Lil Wayne gets treated on the HIPHOP vids...Thats funny...all music is good for the world...what if we had no music?? Things would suck!!!!!

  • @jkeyes59 thats true, and since its a Smokey site/video I have to say, Smokey and the Miracles and the Temps have such great voices, better than the Beatles i have to say. I feel there music, it has so much soul! whooo!

  • i love everything about this song, such beautiful true words and a great beat

  • I'm an obsessed Beatles fan, but you didn't know they covered it. I have a lot of respect for these guys, but, obviously, I love both versions. After all, they wrote it.

  • Smokey was 'The Man'.
