  • This is a great movie but I absolutely HATE the ending!

  • what trade software are they using on their computers?

  • I'll be honest, I watched this, but I was lost. I can't say it's good or bad.

  • What constitutes a "fair trade"? If some information is hidden

(rats in the cellar).... The point is an asset such as a house is

worth what to you, or to another is dependent not only a set of

facts about that house, but also on things like "personal taste"...

Would you sell something worth X dollars to you, for Y dollars to

somebody else (Y>X)? Is that fair? Value > Price paid = Price

sold for > Cost of acquiring. Is that fair? ... That said, this movie

    trailer looks historically accurate.

  • But some paper claims are not claims on say T-Bills or mortgages,

but real assets, such as factories. How much is that candy factory

really worth, given that it is difficult to predict how much candy

can be manufactured or sold in a given decade... Mortgages... In

the face of high unemployment, loans made to drug addicts, and

so forth... Those mortgage back securities were worth... zero, with

certainty?? They could yet turn their lives around, find employment...

  • "You're selling something you know has no value"...

I guess everybody thinks he knows the value of what he is buying,

or selling. Price is not the same as value. But in this case, since

prices and values are denominated in dollars, and the paper claims

involve claims on money (financial obligations), the value of zero or

less seems absolute. Although, some companies might like to show a

loss for income tax purposes. Hence, that asset might yet have value.

  • Ordered it from Netflix

  • "The Bear and the Bow"

  • Why is Sylar suddenly into Wallstreet??

  • @the0amazing0joe he is a good guy now

  • Whoa!! Spock's in this movie! Energize!!

  • 1:48 Woah baby, Jeremy looks uber-sexy in this movie.:D

  • Holy hell! Super good actors in this movie, :o

  • Simon cowell sent me here lol he said "buy this film for someone you dont like"

  • hindsight 20-20.. the gift of hollywood. yes some people knew the assets they were trading had high risk and could go up/down.. but nobody knew they would become completely worthless, otherwise even goldman sachs wouldn't have been so blatant, because yes the government may well have bailed them out, but nothing is ever for certain. if they knew it would get so bad that a bailout would determine their survival, they would have laid out a plan B, but they didn't. again, hollywood hindsight2020

  • Margin Call is pretty interesting movie that you should watch for sure! Better spend some time watching it since it is really good. My advice is to go to this video /watch?v=1OounZn_Hww and check description link!

  • one of the best films ive ever seen

  • Brilliant start to the movie, but was slow progressing. Kevin Spacey is amazing as always and Jeremy Irons just rocked the role. 7 out of 10 - we've seen better.

  • I'm sorry but this trailer is all kinds of fucked up. I saw the movie and effin loved it, this trailer makes the movie seem fast paced but its not. Its slow and very pulling, practically half of the scenes they showed in this trailer are misleading. This movie is great, if you were put off by this trailer then I would say to please watch the full movie cuz its about 10x better than what this trailer shows and I mean everyword

  • Really good film, just saw it tonight. I even had sympathy for Wall Steet guys, which is no easy thing

  • wow what a team

  • I was so glad to hear it got an original screenplay nomination. Well deserved!

  • OMG it's Sylar !!!

  • 54 people are human......:P

  • Comment removed

  • @alamc200 Or 54 people are humans with the opinion that this was a bad movie. They are allowed to have an opinion, aren't' they?

  • @Idroppedmypencil99 Maybe because they don't understand how this industry or the stock market works?

  • @alamc200 If 54 people are clueless humans then maybe 1 100 are pretentious, elitist punks who believe their taste in film is worth more then others, taste in movies defines ones IQ and think that not understanding and not liking something are the same?

  • I didn't understand this film at all, but I couldn't stop watching it.

  • something big is going down

    lol

  • when this movie is out in cinemas i went to cinema and they did nt do this movie is this movie from last year

  • Syler is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i believe simon cowell when he says this movie sucks

  • Awesome movie. One of the best of 2011.

  • Why am I not surprised Stanley Tucci is in this?

  • And lines like "WOAH IS THAT FIGURE RIGHT?!" and "THERE ARE $8TRN OF PAPER AROUND THE WORLD LYING AROUND THAT EQUATION" will go down as some of the cheesiest and most unrealistic lines said in american movie history.

  • @utubemaster047

just how exactly are those lines cheesy or unrealistic?

"WOAH IS THAT FIGURE RIGHT?" -it seems like a plausible reaction a boss would have upon being shown some detrimental facts and figures by his workers..

"there are 8trillion dollars of paper around the world relying on that equation." -this is something quants would say as it is their job to develop these "equations" which are in reality being used by banks worldwide so in fact that statement is quite realistic

  • Its unrealistic because its another dumbed down Hollywood movie covering a subject the writers clearly didn't research in depth, so instead the script includes vague lines about an "equation" and "that figure". Just which single equation exactly does $8tr of paper rely on? I spent 3 years in structured products at BNP Paribas, enlighten me. This film is as accurate a portrayal of working in finance as The Fast and Furious is for driving cars. Entertaining, maybe. Realistic? C'mon.

  • @utubemaster047 ENRON !!! is that realistic enough for you ?

    Capitalism sucks ...

  • @utubemaster047 if all the technical term comes out people wouldn't understand, so what's the point?

  • Hollywood producers seem to lack patience these days. The financial crisis was barely 3 years ago and is still playing out. This movie has such a huge cast but won't even touch most of the countries' theatres around the world to receive the audience it deserves, similar to the 9/11 movie flops made so far.

  • Perfect movie.

  • Great film! Amazing cast! Irons, Tucci and Spacey were excellent!

  • What is the difference between stealing $300 from a person and selling that person $300 worth of something you know if worthless?

  • @elementalpuck One is legal the other illegal

  • @elementalpuck Will from the person buying the product

  • @mcbooze When a equities company sells product they know is worthless and justifies it to themselves by blaming the customer for naivete, it reminds me of a young man from LA in the mid 80's who was found guilty of car jacking and beating to death a tourist in a rental car who was lost. He said it wasn't his fault because the man should've known it was a bad neighborhood and if he didn't carjack him, someone else would have.

  • The movie reminds you of the every man for himself attitude when mistakes happen.

  • Good movie.

  • any film with simon baker, is a good film in my eyes, extreme man love!

  • Spock was simply amazing. Saw it yesterday. Didn't understand half of it but it was a very good movie :-)

  • Look up "Margin Call Awkward Recut", it's funny!

  • Everybody Knows That The Bird Is The Word!!

  • very good movie

  • @666TheEmpress666

  • excellent movie

  • SYLAR!!

  • great movie

  • good actors:D:D

  • is this a story about how bankers fucked us all in the ass?

  • @blackraider777 yes it is, it is about the beginning of the early stages of the crisis.

  • Comment removed

  • OMG the mentalist!! the best

  • I'm watching this for Sylar.

  • @xXVi3t4lyfeXx Me too!

  • I went or see it. I'll give it **

  • Jeremy Irons has a really incredible voice

  • This was so good. So good! They freakin' NAILED Wall Street. I've never seen Jeremy Irons so scary, Demi Moore so haunting, or Kevin Spacey such a mysterious jerk but likeable, human -- a bookend to his role in "Glengarry Glen Ross," plus a crazy monologue at the peak of this thing. Stanley Tucci . . . no words for his understated genius. And I keep hearing those British-accented fraudulent sales calls echoing in my head.

  • @tashmoobabe

Actually they didn't 'nail' Wall Street. This is the tame, consumable version of how Wall Street is. In reality it is much much worse, way more blatant, and with malice, forethought, and glee that the banksters rape you.

  • I have to watch an advertisement, to see and advertisement. YouTube = HULU.

  • Question, why did i never see this trailer? kevin spacey? demi moore? stanely tucci? HELLO? did this movie ever get released? or do well in any country???

  • @lalalinda93 I agree never heard of this ! Big stars ... theme right up my alley ... wow they did a horrible job of advertising this flick.

  • @lalalinda93 probably companies do not want this movie to be seen...

  • @manzanas93 ....technically what companies are doing is legal so i would imagine they could care less about us seeing this movie.

  • No wonder the company calculations are wrong... The former engineer's numbers don't add up: he saved 15,315 years to the people who used his bridge, not 1,531. I checked.

  • Rush Limbaugh told me 2 see this movie, and so I will.

  • I read this comments and all I can say is THIS IS NOT A MOVIE FOR DUMB ASS KIDS.

  • I think I may just watch this because of Zachary Quinto

  • it is all true thats how traders think and if not they loose unfortunately

  • Demy Moore was underutilized in the movie .

  • i have no idea what this is about

  • Quero ver esse filme nos cinemas da cidade de Belo Horizonte em Minas Gerais, Brasil.

  • I want to see this film in theaters in the city of Belo Horizonte in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
