Thanks, i just used this method on a seriously tarnished almost black 925 byzantine sterling silver bracelet plus ring and it worked a treat. And i cleaned a few gold bracelets using this trick too and it shined them up nicely.
Instead of using regular baking soda, I used arm and hammer toothpaste, the main ingredient of which is baking soda. But my silver turned from reddish-black to yellow. Is that normal? Should I keep going?
Objects cleaned by this method may tarnish more quickly than silver that has been polished, for the object's surface will act like a sponge and more readily absorb tarnish-producing gases and moisture. The solution can also seep into hollow areas such as coffeepot handles, unsoldered spun beads around the tops of lightweight holloware, weighted pieces with minute holes, and any porous attachments.
@gentrysnavat - NO YOU CANNOT use FLOUR. Baking soda has a particular chemical structure which prompts the reaction which cleans the silver. FLOUR has NO SUCH COMPOSITION. Flour will waste your time and make a mess.
Thankyou for the friendly informative video... Im sorry for the rude comments... I hope you know that not everyone out there is worried about your stove or counter... or even cares. I would think that that person needs to concentrate on learning proper English and spelling so that they can write a resume and get a job instead of wasting their day writing nasty comments on you tube for entertainment.

@0Cereal0 No help for you. Gold has a very low melting point, it melted and spread over the rest of the object.

2 things!!!!!!
first, bare in mind people that this removes dirt, NOT tarnish.
Second, if you add salt, it works a lot faster.
