  • Great song. I missed out on all the hot cars from Detroit, but I got to see the best artists of the 70-80s. I remember in Chicago seeing Rush and the warm up group was Bob Seager! All for $15.00.

  • @jamess245 that ticket should have been no more than $12.50! nice show, I'm sure!

  • "I always thought the guy singing this song was black. What a voice."

  • @muzzmatrix - I too just learned he is a white fella! OMG!

  • just WHAT was this nasty stain that he's covering up with a picture?

  • @tsartodd It's covering up the the stain when he was angry and through the glass ketchup bottle at the wall I guess. Wink

  • For those of us that are old "enough", we can remember our first crush, or broken heart, and totally relating to this song. Thanks for posting.

  • ^ Uh, ahem! ^ Get yer video outta here, "JUANITA!" Put it on yer own post, ya frikkin' troll. Not even related, moron. - Aaaanyways...I always listen and watch this version of the song because I'm still tryin' to figure out which one of the guys is the one sayin', "Big boys don't cry. Big boys don't cry... "

  • When I was a little kid I always thought it was, "Be poised and quiet, Be poised and quiet..."

Then, one day I realized I was wrong.

Then, one day I realized it really didn't matter. What I accidentally thought she was whispering would have had the same meaning...

    weird.

  • I'd like to be in love.

  • 36 people were in love and didn't know it!

  • Any ideas as to who supplied the "Big boys don't cry" voice-over?

  • @UncleSlim64 I recall hearing that it was the receptionist at the recording studio.

  • i broke up with my first wife thats all i remember.

  • I'm still not in love!!!

  • I could never figure out the song I ever heard in the 70's, but this was the song we all loved. Thanks for posting , I just happened on it. Wow God bless, I found it. Thanks a million.

  • The "Likes & Dislike" bar didnt get a light like a cigarette yet--kool

  • Love rears up its ugly head... too often !

  • This song makes me sad--realizing that i am so old now--and i didnt make the million dollars i wanted.

  • @CaveGuy2008 - you are not dead yet ;]

  • @stacieizzy Close though--lol

  • @CaveGuy2008: Nor do we have that jet-car and vacation home on the moon they promised us in '60's grade school science movies!! All we have is this lousy internet.

  • @pjriordan1 Lol

  • Indémodable et toujours aussi efficace , après 37 ans bravo.

  • TWO MEMBERS OF THE BAND (Kevin Godley and Lol CremE) WERE ONE OF THE FIRST AND SUCCESSFUL MUSIC VIDEO PRODUCERS IN THE EARLY 1980S.

  • never never never get tired of this. Why is he so afraid to show his feelings silly boy.

  • 10cc get it 1 load average!:)

  • as wonderful as this song is I have to say it has the most lackluster and boring "break downs" in classic rock history.

  • i have to agree we dont hear this kind of music anymore not unless you put it on an oldie station............

  • Still some hope for the youn'ins. I had a 29 yrs old girl listening to ELO, fleetwood, ect... she liked it

  • I listened to this song for years, I am a 70's music child.....only today at almost 50, I know what this song is about. Damn that hurts.

  • oooooh you wait a long time for me!! always loved that part..

  • Absolutely.... Musicians were ARTISTS back then!

  • great stories I could tell with this sune....an all time favorite :)

  • This song is otherwordly, ghostly... haunting... magical....

  • The disembodied heads scare me... especially, when they whisper "big boys don't cry"

  • This song was an enigma back then -- loved it, but it was so unlike other songs I loved. Still love it

  • I have always Loved this song!!. Although I am not a fan of this particular band. This song is def a winner!!.

  • hey Jimi....

  • How many artists cover this song?

  • So many memories - I was in the 8th or 9th grade and still recall all those silly childhood "loves" and heartbreaks!

  • Great song, but who is playing drums .

  • just popped in my head <3

  • QUESTION: WHO IS THE ORIGINAL PERFORMER/SONGWRITER OF THIS SONG...?...

  • @925dude This is the original performers. Written by Eric Stewart (lead vocalist) and Graham Gouldman (bass guitarist).

  • @925dude Just a wild guess...10cc?

    lol

  • The 70's had great music but eatch era has their share of good/ bad music.I think a lof of the older generations just stopped discovering new bands once they finished high school/college. We live in the era of the internet, bands/artists are able to bypass the major music labels and get their music out to a much wider audience for much cheaper. As for Rap music, most artists are great until they became famous and lose their swagger. If you think Gaga and Beiber represent todays music, your wrong.

  • @misinglink15 exactly, just like Cassidy and Osmond were a mere fraction of what was on offer when we were young at this time. The good bands are there if you look hard. In a way youtube and itunes, internet has made it so much greater for musicians - you can record in your bedroom and sound great without any record co. to stuff you around. It is a very useful tool in many ways.

  • i'd give anything to be back in the 70's..it was a magical time to grow up, the world was a more beautiful place and music reflected this..today the world is cold and the music reflects this too. *insert clip of that sad-ass bitch GAGA*

  • There was still innocence with humanity back then. Music today is dead, I think disco was the initial cause

  • @321ssteeeeeve Nah, was'nt disco, it was us. We thought we'd won, that was when we lost.We were too damned innocent, may our kids forgive us.

  • Best song of all-times

  • This song has been rerecorded by other artists ... I like the original the best. Thanks for the post.

  • ...so dont forget it muthafucka...

  • I'm with all you guys about music then and now. I really can't stand todays music. I listen to older older music just to see whats new that I haven't heard. kids are singing about G spots and junk in the trunk garbage. I just wanna hit Alt Cntrl Del, and erase everything except around 90s & below.

  • Yeah but rap, now that music is so degratting it so vugar, and alot of kids of different races and states are are listening to it. And it's subliminal. Just listen to the words, they are so cruel... So music became shit after the early 90"s

  • magestuosa.. performance, voz, arreeglo.. ufffff esoe s hablar de amor la verdad, hablar con el corazon en la mano y expresarlo asi unico...

  • I think it is a bit closed minded to think that music was better then, than it is now. It is the generation gap way of thinking. My father thought that the only good music was made in the 1940s during his service in WWII. He hated what I listened to in the 60's and 70's, and told me so. I graduated from HS in '75 and loved the music from then and like a lot of todays music as well. I saw Bush a few months back (played their new album) and they were great.

  • i can only take so much-does someone have a time machine-i wanna go back about 35 years thats all...

  • fall of 1975,playing outside,chapped lips,cold,school the next day,wish i could go back

  • so glad I grew up in the 70's some of the best musicians ever came out of that decade including these guys

  • @helga284 agree totally, went to hs 76-80, some great bands those years and all through my teenage years. I really feel bad for the crap my kids have to listen today.

  • @helga284 yep you got it ,,awesome stuff..let's not forget david esssex, bowie , stewart and sooo many more thanks!

  • I am so glad i grew up in the 70's some of the best musicians ever came outta that decade these guys included

  • Maybe I'm wrong but I sense years ago, like in the 70s as one example, musicians were left to their own vices, to make music their way and record companies waited for a hit. This led to creative, original, fun, interesting and mostly quality music that endures the test of time. Nowadays, I sense record companies demand hits, manipulate musicians and their music for profit and directly cause music to be rushed and fake. I miss the 70s and 80s.

  • This song always gives me chills...one of my ALL time favorites from those awesome years. So many memories come flooding in every time I hear this song

  • memories from 1975. i miss you karyn

  • 1975...the BEST year of my life...hey Deb, STILL love ya!

  • The magical power of real music

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG AND I LOVE IT!!!!

  • i like it! :)

  • Why?? this is so nice to hear... I love it

  • Ok guys. Guys? GUYS! THE KEYBOARDS ARE TOO LOUD!

  • @BrainFuck10 Then your brain clearly is f*cked.

  • Before this, I've never seen what the singer looks like. He must have had women dropping like flies all over his dreamy bedroom eyes.

  • Hot summer day 1976 :)

  • I can honestly say I'm glad that we DIDN"T have the internet back in the 70's and 80's..i would of missed out on the best yrs of my life!!

  • @Midnightryder7 I agree I feel the same way

  • Dream on.....I think I've taken over your heart, and it's now of my property....lucky for you....actually lucky for us both! <3...by the way......I'm not in love....

  • Who knows where they got thier name?

  • @SuperIntuitive1 if you're serious I'll tell you

  • @DeeArrindahood I want to know to..where did they get there name?

  • @Midnightryder7 They got their name from a particular bodily fluid

  • @DeeArrindahood Urban legend. By why let truth get in the way of a good story?

  • @SuperIntuitive1 think fluid .... think bodily fluid LOL

  • Love this song, brings back memories!!!!

  • This is even better with headphones- there's so much going on...

  • Wow the time flys, from the tape coming out of the 8 track,to cd's.man im getting old!

  • My mates uncle was a roadie for 10cc. We lived in Stockport, home of 10cc

  • WHAT A CLASSIC SONG!!! What's happened to music today??? The kids have NO IDEA what they're missing...........and to think they believe RAPCRAP is MUSIC!!! ARE THEY ALL CRAZY OR JUST POISENED??? ARGH!!!!

  • Absolutely awewsome song. The only thing bad about it is it reminds us how much better music was then than it is now

  • @billsgwn Thank you !! They don't seem to make songs like that anymore.. very sad and reflects where we are as a society, in bad shape.

  • @billsgwn I totally agree. Who would have thought music would go down hill? Just be glad you are old ebough to remember when there was REAL music.

  • @billsgwn

that's what I'm thinking. Why is that?

Perhaps in 10,000 years there will be another 7 year window of good music.

  • @billsgwn so true, always loved this and quite a few of these group of classics, love Val vwhite83@yahoo.com great music back then, now all just damn hip-hop, aaarrrggggg!!!!

  • This is one of those great late night songs, to listen to with someone special, or alone having a good Bourbon, and nice cigar............watching the stars and thinking about old times.

  • lol creme was pretty damn hot too!!! LOL aaaaahhhh but I'm In Love with Eric aaaahhh

  • Boy does this take me back. The song had no meaning to me I was 7 ,but the harmonies just sounded so fantastic then and still do today.

  • what a jerk, make up your mid ...either you do or you don't.

  • When this song came out I must've been 10 or 11 years old and already heartbroken. Guess I've always been God's lonely man.

  • Wow, check out those intense adavanced high quality effects. :)

  • é da época que existia musica no mundo

  • é da época que existia musica no mundo !

  • brings back memories

  • Why do I get the feeling this was probably played at every prom in the mid to late 70s? A classic song.I love how the more he tries to make it sound like he doesn't love her that shows how much he really does.

  • No 1 in the charts,(UK), the day I got married, June 14th 1975. Still in love 36 years and three kids later.

  • @MrBiggoolie Congrats! :)) All the best for your family...

  • @MrBiggoolie Indeed this is a splendid song. At least this American Generation Xer (Born in the 70's) also thinks so. And good on you for making the love last all these years.

  • @Animeman73 !!!

  • when i start to listen this song i remember adam sandler's movies =) ... it's great =)

  • To my ex-wife Liz Rodriguez from Carlos

  • Billy Joel totally lifted this tune 2 yrs later & called it just the way you are. I guess they used this radical looping technique that gives it that textured sound. trippy

  • @2hamboigahs

YEP! and Zeppelin used said technique in the intro to In The Evening

  • chills

  • I love the voder and ancient moog. It's a visceral nostalgia thing.

  • 1975, year of the never ending party.

The party's long over and memories are fading.

    Thanks for reminding me Youtube.

  • buena musica excelente decada, esta de los 70's como los 80's

  • sweet song, beautiful

  • Also, is it me or if you look at the suggestions on the right you find yourself not knowing which classic to pick??? It's driving me up the wall....!

  • Comment removed

  • I was only 6 when this came out, and it's still one of my favourites!

  • Without a doubt, right up at the top of the Greatest Songs of all Time. Classic

  • Marvelous song of a great time

  • If you love this one and Eric aaaahhhhhhhh, check out I'm Not In Love 10CC Christmas '75 TOTP....this man is gorgeous......smiling and twinkline...I'm just mesmorized by this one....want to go back.....

  • I read that everyone in the band is Jewish. Also, much of their 'orchestral amplification' and other sounds predated Freddie Mercury's arrangements.

  • @adamjkraker All the band were Jewish except Eric Stewart (lead vocalist here). Check out "Une Nuit A Paris" recorded months earlier than Bohemian Rhapsody.

  • My brother kept insisting that this was a song off Ace Frehley's solo album. I was so dumb I believed him. I'm really stupid and naive.

  • Lets face it guys and gals that era, that time, was the best. When I listen to music like this and drift back in time,Makes me not wanna come back, but then again maybe i never left. later,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • Yes, guys, each time this song easy move me to the past, but it's so hard to coming back from there ))

  • @gz06geo

Yes, the summer of '75 was a good one for many, and this is one reason why.

  • This seems like the best music to float into the stars with, or at least stargaze.

  • After reading 46 pages of posts on this song, I'm ready 10CC, including former members Creme & Godley were geniuses. Their music, as one post said, is more art than music and not even sure it's rock. Listen to the whole "Bloody Tourists" album (includes this cut) I was in the record distribution business for a few years during the time it came out so heard it all, and the album is my fave of all time. I like "For You and I" as much as this cut. Also includes the single "Dreadlock Holiday".

  • I GOT SHOT DOWN (NOT LITERALLY) BY A GIRL I HAD A HUGE CRUSH ON WHEN THIS SONG WAS FIRST HITTING THE AIRWAVES. SHE RIPPED MY HEART OUT AND THIS SONG EXPRESSED EXACTLY WHAT I WAS FEELING. EVERY TIME I HEAR IT I'M TAKEN BACK TO THAT TIME AND WONDER "WHAT IF?". THE PAIN NEVER REALLY GOES AWAY. FUNNY WHAT HEARING A SONG CAN DO TO YOU.

  • @old55dude Wow, after 35 years it's time to let it go. My philosophy was give it a month to grieve... then get the hell on with it. If you never even dated, come on! Not trying to be a jerk, just saying!

  • @burnabybrent Well. He isnt you, is he. We cant all be playa's like yourself, eh mate? Love 'em and leave 'em, right? Must be nice to live in the perpetual now...

  • Comment removed

  • correct me if im wrong but was'nt this the most expensive single at the time ever made?

  • Where were these videos back then?????

  • @Ronadv1 Venues like Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, etc. They were also used for promos and for viewing in exclusive clubs.

  • Don't do drugs...

    without me.

  • The end of the clip has been shortened

  • Reminds me of the beach for some weird reason...

  • i wish it was 1975 again better days !!

  • we were blessed with music like this. The stuff today makes me look backwards! lol

  • This was/is such an incredible rendition of a man's denial, doubt, and forced distancing from a woman he is helplessly in love with - for better or worse. Such a personal, sensitive issue & so incredibly depicted through lyrics & music. It is an epiphany song - reminding me, in some part, of the song "Bluer than Blue" but without the pop culture boppiness. THis song is a thing of empathic, sad beauty.

  • I like this song but TBH when ever I have split up I just think fuck 'em and stroll on.

  • i've been hurt so many times i ask myself why do i love i tell many people i'm not in love but i'm indenial i just don't want to get hurt sounds like i'm living like this song....

  • brings bad old memories dad used to have this on a lp think he has a few or there albums on lp. miss you dad

  • What great production value. Really good music.

  • I love this song so much!

  • so beautful

  • Timeless classic. Wish modern music was as good as this.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Eric Stewart looks a little like a young George Costanza?

  • I love this song also, but I don't wanna dis all music nowadays, I love ALL music(not too much country or rap), from every era and artists these days are just as talented, it's just not our generation, but I don't consider just my gen's the best.

  • My favorite song as a little kid. I had a 45 record of this and was just mezmerised by the sound I heard. Thank you for posting.

  • OMG!!!!!!!! 70's & 80's best of everything GREAT MUSIC!!

  • Love to hear more from these guys!

  • love stumbling across this song from time to time

  • la letra tiene mi historia.

  • Whom ever dislikes this song has to be insane......

  • saw them in Knebworth in 76,they were brilliant

  • Yesterday while in the supermarket hearing this I did a complete flip & shouted with joy that this had been played! GT

  • I love this song for all the wrong reasons !!!!!

  • A girl once explained to me what this song really meant .Thank you

  • Four minutes of slow dancing with your lady held close; fine memories indeed.
