  • The Saxons were fought because they plundered ceaselessly France. They were warriors. They did not work. It is the cause of the war wich lasted 33 years. They left in France the image of hard warriors.

  • @Communaysard They never plunder France that even didnt existed as we knew it now half of Frankish Kingdmon or more than half is in what is now Germany so in that case Charlemagne was more German than french Aix La Chappele or Aachen is in Germany! Saxons didnt plunder France at all they were defeding their way of life and religion nothing more and Franks never fully destroid them Saxons still existed long after Charlemagne dead but they adopt various Frankish strutures such as Christianty

  • @ImperialGuard9001 - France had existed (with borders different with those from today) for several centuries already when Clovis1st had become the king about it. Charlemagne went down from there.

    - As for Saxon they was pirates. They plundered France what explains the intervention of Charlemagne on their premises. This is historical and know in France. Never again after that they will have the seizure on France! Even the English Kings are of French origin!

    - THERE IS ONLY ONE HISTORY NOT TWO!

  • Big part of Austrasia wasnt even in what is now France and so you say it was France are you insane? The Frankish Lands were divided into four sub factions Neustria Austrasia Burgundy and Aquitanie there was no France a thing that probaly Charlemagne or Clovis had never even heard about they were Kings of Franks not Kings of France! Something that only came with Philips Augustus if you talk about France with Philips Augustus is something now in time of Charlemagne is a joke...

  • Charlemagne didnt even spoke french!

  • @ImperialGuard9001 You're right considering the fact that french as you may know it didn't exist in the years 8xx And notice Richard lionheart did non speak english

  • @celuiquipuequipete they should make a real good Movie from Charlemagne.like the Lord of the Rings.

  • @ImperialGuard9001 he was german heritage

  • @ImperialGuard9001 Hello and cheer for you knowledge of French history! The various parts composing France of the time belonged to Charlemagne (except Britanny (Armorique)). The country was still called Gaulle, but it was under franque domination. It was about an empire actually that Charlemagne defended against the Saxon ones wich came to plunder it regularly. His grandfather Charles Martel had overcome as that the Moors with Poitier in the Aquitaine wich was frank also and not independant.

  • Charlemagne could not read nor write. In as much as one might want to call him a saint, he isn't. However, he had a love for Christianity and was evident that he spent some of his time learning the scriptures. However, being uneducated in the full Christian doctrine, Charlemagne pushed his own agenda to fulfill his own goals in the name of God, which he naively believes is the right thing to do.

However, he has made a huge contribution to the foundations of medieval Europe

  • It was Christianity that civilized the barbarians. It is a total nonsense that people here can claim it was the fault of a Judeo originated religion that created war and havoc in Europe.

BEFORE THERE WAS CHRISTIANITY, GERMANIA WAS ALREADY WARRING WITH ROME. You make no sense trying to disuade others, putting the entire blame on Christianity you bias prick

  • @dishwasherman83 except that there was no such faction as 'Germania.' :P However, was anyone actually arguing that the Germanic tribes were all peachy and friendly with the Romans? Because that is really rather goddamn stupid.

  • @dishwasherman83 Germania wasnt a country and he did warring before even Rome was borned

  • @dishwasherman83 No the Barbarians where pretty much as psychotic post christian conversion, if anything it made them worse since they where know happy to add religious genocide to their list of deeds.

  • Amazing what a few centuries can do for image, isn't it? During the Roman Empire, all of Europe chafed under the domination of the Roman superpower and longed to see it fall. By Charlemagne's time, there was tremendous nostalgia for the days of the Empire, when Europe as a whole had been united under one banner. Just look at how Stalin is viewed in Russia today!

  • @dkupke Roman Empire wasnt the whole empire and where was this nostalgia? And comparing Stalin to CharleMagne? I didnt see CharleMagne sending milions of his own people to their deaths...

  • Charlemagne was a bastard. He conquered his own kin, however distant, in the name of a foreign god who has been the eternal enemy of civilization for as long as records go back. Unification does not mean civilization.

  • @HoundofOdin

There was no conscience of kin, germanics fought each others more than with other cultural groups.

  • He still killed people in the name of a god that is the continuous enemy of civilization. That alone is reason to hate the bastard.

  • @HoundofOdin

The medieval men didn´t saw things as we do,religion was the most important.

  • king of the germans, french, and spanish.

  • You sound like a wonderful person your own self. Shame on you, find something better to do with your time and remember, when my ancestor Charlemagne lived, that's the way the world was. He often achieved goals of unification in his kingdom without a drop of blood shed, other times much blood was shed. War, Love, and little else was all there was in those times so get an education, please.

I don't condone killing in the name of God either, but history is what it is just the same. Grow up!

  • Albanian, Not only are you a bigot, but highly immature--what are you, about 10 years old? Does your mama know about all the nasty &useless comments you post on YouTube? Go to your room, child.

Granny Tenderstone has no time to tolerate such childish nonsense.

I am proud of my ancestry, what about yours? You do your ancestors no honor by blemishing your bloodline with such rude behavior. You should be ashamed - you insult yourself.

  • @Ermengarde11 To ad you in your statment, your Ancestor Charlemagne was king to us Bavarians and foverd us for our countries bauety, and in my case the Saxons our german brothers brought this to them selves

  • @Ermengarde11 According to most research most of us are related to Charlemagne.

  • Vive les peuples Germaniques !

    Vive les Franks !

    Notre puissance serra ETERNELLE !

  • Vive les peuples Latins! ROMA INVICTA

  • @Bjjownsu10

roma invicta in a video about a frank? one of the germanic tribes that destroyed the roman empire.

  • @tresckow The Franks respected the Romans and admired Roman culture, they even believed they restored the Roman Empire, but yes the Franks was one of the tribes that destroyed (correction) western roman empire not Roman empire.

  • @Bjjownsu10 Western Roman Empire colapsed wasnt destroid

  • Ah, the Germans are at it again ...

  • And like a dog to its vomit present day western man returns to his judeo, mahmoedian christianity.

HEIL WOTAN ....father of all Europa and destroyer of illusions.

  • '`~^0^~'` Judeo,mahmoedian christianity?

What is that? Is there such a thing?

    WHO are Bretherine exactly?

It is hard to rule a diversity, and difficult to deal with various levels of complaining and whining, but our gr.grandfathers did the best they could to keep some order until the nations organized to form their independent states. Even Julius Ceasar had a big job on his hand to note differences with various orders to set *temporal & *defined boundaries, and we must respect hie effort.

  • HEIL WOTAN

    :)

  • @LSDetroit Correction Mohammed: Lolicon barbarian.

  • @LSDetroit So what is Charlemagne a Barbarian aswell? Dont insult the greatness of Historical Figures that long passed your mediocrate existance
