  • This is a variant of Jericho Horn?

  • Found the song used in this demo ;-) - 4am (adam k and soha mix) from the album electric daisy carnival vol.1 (mixed_by_kaskade). Just waiting for my next event to play it on my Titan48 and OTop12.

  • I HAVE ELECTROVOICE ELIMINATOR THIS IS IMPRESIONANTE TITAN 48 WHAT SIZE THE SPEAKER

  • I have heard that using delay between youre upper cabs and subs will bring to life the sound you are looking for..Given the length of travel in folded horn inclosures which base does try 20Ms delay on uppers...Just a sugestion....

  • @DjBrianTProductions not nessicarily a delay, you just have to ensure the timing between upper cabs an subs are matched, although a delay sometimes helps this issue.Placement could help too. as you say a horn sub has enclosure distance to travel before the sound comes out. in extreme cases i've heard of people 'lazer aligning' the voice coils, although im pretty sure they are just using a laser to measure the distance to the listening area. but its a good point often overlooked.

  • my 2 titan 48's are finished..i have a gig tomorrow so its time to paly them.....

  • horrible microphone or what ? =)

  • @Kasperle321 : Just a digital camera microphone, so no, not that great.

  • im going to buy the plans to build 2 of these.........what 15' driver do you recomend me...the peavey lowrider or the eminence 3015lf..thanks

  • Seen you at the djforums, nice videos you have here. One suggestion. Put a piece of paper or cloth about a meter from the horns so we can SEE what these things are doing! Did you get the see through access panels done?

  • have you made any of the top cabs shown on his page?

  • LOL, i know this a demo and everything, but I seriously hope that you don't eq like that. I searched for the song you demo'ed and the tops are getting drowned - BIG TIME! Don't know about you but I like for the kick to just pound everyone right in their chest, and if the tops cannot keep up on their low end, the impact is lost. But thanks for all the videos you have on her now.

  • @dumdum04: I was doing a demo on the bass, not the top cabs... obviously. Why would someone comment that my tops aren't balanced out with my subs, when I was demoing the subs, not the tops? If I do a video showing something I did to my living room, do I need to also include the kitchen, the bathrooms and bedrooms and so forth, so people don't think all I have is a living room?

  • @sleeperawaken36 that is a very good explenation lol. I have 8 titan 48s and I love them....

  • @sleeperawaken36 Hahaha nice one :D

  • Hey, Sleeperawaken, I am also in utah, Provo and I run two titan 48s! Do you like the t48s better than the tuba 30s ? I am thinking about building some of his new tuba 60s ;-)

  • Hi. are u using your behringer b415dsp cabs with this setup?

  • GREAT SONG CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have to ask something. How do these cabs compare to like say Behringer B1800X PRO cabs? I've heard good things about them and the low cost justifies NOT building a cab. So how do they compare in performance? Is the difference nill?

  • @filmmakingjoe: Why would I build a pair of Titan horns for the same cost if the difference was nill? The B1800X subs are just basic Reflex bass cabs, these are long throat horns, completely different kind of sub. As to whether you should build something like this, or just buy a pair of B1800X subs, depends on your needs. The Titans are far better subs, but they take a lot of labor to build, and they are BIG to haul around.

  • (continued) There is no "best" sub, but rather a measure of getting what you really need/want. I love my Titan's, but I don't even bring them to every event, I bring them to the events that warrant them. I'm actually considering getting a single bass reflex sub like a B1800X for those "inbetween" events where I want more than my powered tops will give for bass, but don't really need the Titans.

  • (continued) one last note: The primary benefit with horn subwoofers, like a Titan 48, is that the bass carries well over a distance. A dual 18" sub might sound just as loud as a Titan 48, 1 meter away, but from 50 feet, the Titan will be far louder. Also though, with horns, you have to run atleast one pair, you can't run them in singles. Well.... yeah, you can, but it will suck. A pair or more is the rule.

  • @sleeperawaken36I think it's a good car horn, I have a hybrid mix ARLs are bass reflex exponential and the results they have given me a dbmeter to 10w with two cabins 102db at 50hz speakers (made in china) 100w with 4 cabins response 20hz down to a wonderful .. test box is easy to assemble will be the 25 or 40us $ better spent ... I think that is one of the best designs but there are better, try it with confidence I with Chinese speakers I repeat achieve 102db / m with dbmeter

  • @sleeperawaken36

My partner DJ company uses B1800X x2 they are actually pretty good, We found corner loading them and facing them at the corner gives the chest pounding bass better than facing them towards the crowd. I use T-39 20" BP-102 loaded x2 v plated it is a way better sub but we don't always have the real estate to plate them on their sides. We also use the Behringer DSP415 tops with either subs and they are great match even if they are a little harsh on the high end during war volume.

  • I asked awhile ago and didnt get a response so im assuming you missed it but what is the name of that song in the gym?

  • @supraman20

    Kaskade - 4 AM

  • another full demo plzzzz... for this cab...

  • how many watts RMS ? sound alright

  • @KnoCantMix: Depends on which driver you load into them. The drivers I loaded them with are rated to 800 Watts RMS per cab.

  • WOW! beauties! Thanks bro. i been looking at getting another 800watt subby. (so thats what it will sound like ! haha) i got a dB Technologies Sub15 @ 800watt rms. sounds amazing, not sure if i need more mid/high or more bass. :)

  • @KnoCantMix : Keep in mind though, you can't use horns and bass reflex cabs together, they cancel each other out, so if you go to horn subs, you have to use nothing but horns for subs, or stick to bass reflex subs instead, and additionally, you need to use atleast two horns if you go with horns.

  • yeh gonna buy another dB sub15 !!!

:D thanks for the advice !

  • @sleeperawaken36 right could you do me a massive favour ............... basically i want to invest some money into having 8 18inch horns at about 1000watt rms each.... now could you find me the drivers and amp i should use..... and basically how does a speaker rig work ..... you have your amps and speakers... when i go online and look for an amp like a 2000 watt amp i dont know what that means in terms of how many channels and stuff and iff its a full range frqencey amp

  • @deckoland and also does it mean iff you have a 1000 watt rms sub and you have a 3000 watt amp does that mean the amp throws out 3000 watt max and you cant go anymore than that and that would mean i would run 3 subs off it does rms mean you can have any amound of watts coming out your amp aslong as it doesnt succeed over 1000 watt of your 1000 watt rms sub otherwise it would start underperforming

  • Why did you built the T48's? Were the T30's not good?

  • @joejoe615: Tuba 30's were excellent, used them for several years, but Titan 48's are a bit better. Might have started with them, but there were no plans for the Titan 48 when I built my Tuba 30's, and even if there had been, I didn't have a large enough vehicle to haul Titan 48's then, but now own a 1 Ton cargo van :)

  • @sleeperawaken36: So both Tuba 30's and Titan 48's are great subs, but Titan 48's are more efficient, but they are also significantly bigger, so it's a trade-off.

  • Holy crap!

  • nice horn subwoofer :>

  • If you dont mind me askin whats the name of that song?

  • lol this is impressive to say the least.

  • where can i get one?

  • hell that what i been look for.

  • I mentioned the EAW KF940 on another video. I have searched another good horn subwoofer - the Yorkville LS1208. It has a similar mouth to the Cerwin Vega subs, but I'm fairly sure it has a much longer path length. It does use an 18in speaker though.

  • WOW!!! they make your tops sound tiny in comparison. I have been playing more school gigs recently and looking at buying another sub to go with the 18" that i have because one is not enough for a full size gym. Until now, I will be contacting Bill for a set of plans. Absolutly love the low end tone that the titan produces. Base reflex cabinets just seems to fade away below 50Hz. Great build.

  • @DjBrianTProductions: Be aware that you have to use atleast 2 horns together, you can't do singles, and also that you cannot use normal subs along side of horns, they will cancel each other out. So if you go horns, you have to go atleast two, and only horns for subs. Bass reflex tops are okay, as long as you cross them over above the subs :)

  • I am floored that Bill Fitzmaurice, the designer of these boxes, does not make any proper demo videos like this.... WTF BFM!? You really should, if you're reading this!! You would sell double the number of plans, man.

  • @christothegreat: Well, he's a true hobbiest. He really doesn't do it for the money, I think his other job supplies him with a fine income already, and not everyone likes to make videos :) But yeah, if someone more capable than myself did some high quality videos, his designs would certainly gain more popularity I think :)

  • @sleeperawaken36

Do you the name of the song that was playing in the gym?

  • Fantastic demo Brady!! Way to show them off :-)

  • if you are able to plug a battery-powered or phantom-powered condenser mic into a notebook running free RTA software... it would be really cool to see the sound spectrum of this sound system, live fullscreen on a notebook, as the music track is playing thru these bad boys... Just a thought, something to try, if you're able to...

  • and I'm saying this , because it would be great to see how top heavy or bottom heavy the system is, but it's impossible to hear that with the subs clipping the camera mic like this! It is a good thing.. from your reaction.. the Titans seem like they are strong as hell..

  • Sounds loud! A couple questions.

    1) Have you thought of running an external mic, thru a limiter/gain control, into your camcorder, to prevent the clipping and get a clean pure sound for these demos!!

    2) Which setup in the real world gives you the most bass SPL.. 2xTitan 48 or 2xTuba 30??

  • 1) Would like to do something like that, but I don't have a decent camcorder, just using a digital camera (Kodak ZD710) and it does not have an input for an external mic, or any kind of external audio :(. I'm probably one of the more poorly equiped people for doing demos like this, but I also seem to be one of the almost none who are :(

  • 2) The Titans should definitely give more real world bass, which is why I sold my Tubas and built my Titans. You need a BIG vehicle to haul Titans though. I believe they are already outperforming the Tubas, though the drivers still need to break in a bit more, and I still need to sort out the EQ a bit more, as they have a different response curve than the Tubas.

  • Dare you to stick your head in them.

  • @TimpBizkit No thank you... LOL :)

  • That would probably give your ears a really bad popping sensation

  • do you have to delay the tops for the bass to be in sync with them? think its called a drive rack

  • It's required that you use a crossover of some flavor that can cross with a cutoff rate of 24 dB atleast. You have to cut off the lows from your tops with subhorns. It's also optimal (but not required) to delay the tops to match, but not necessary, just sounds a little tighter. My tops are not currently delayed, and it sounds fine, but I will be adding a delay as soon as I can make the mod to my EQ.

  • nice, ever think about having them sprayed with bedliner in lieu of carpet?

  • Very nearly did, but too cold now, and no garage, and can't afford the $400 to have a shop do it.

  • All I gotta say is WOW.. This is awsome! So impressed.

  • Beautiful. Have you ever dared v plate them and then boundary load them?

  • Sweet mother lovin' BASS!!

So what are the plans for the 30's? How much power were you sending these bad boys?

  • lov them im on a prosses buillding 2 titans 48 my plan its to build 6 i have 2 lo max for them hope they sound like yours thans for the videos

  • wow brilliant good job on the build

what drivers are you using in those?

  • Bass in your face!!!

  • I found that on my camera that when I lowered the volume in the menu on it that the sound is not distorted and I can get close to the speakers with it..

  • Hey that's wicked! Shame you can't appreciate the real power through this video. Maybe next time put a piece of paper near the port or better still a plastic bag!

By the way good job on the speakers! Just need to tidy them up a bit.

  • Thanks! Yeah, they will look much better when carpeted :)

  • nice.. really nice

  • What(if you can)were your spl levels and at what distance? I have researched the speaker design(thanks in part to you)and wanted to know what real world ratings were.

  • Wish I had a good way to measure. There are people in Bill's forum though that have the equipment needed to do proper measurements at various distances, and some have done so and posted their results. I believe the listed graphs though, from my experience.

  • Ok, I know the guy's from Bill's forum check and recheck the specs and they do have the correct tools, thanks for your videos, that have helped me a great deal.

  • what can I say, other than....WOW =)

  • Wow man that sounds awesome. If I was a little more handy with the carpentry I would definitely like to build some. Oh and good track selection, that's one of my favs.

  • sounds crazy buddy I love bass

  • yer i'm shure thay are massive alot of video cameras dont do speakers justice

but i want to make some or something similar chers for finally putting them on

  • ear plugs my friend :D

  • Nice one fella

  • danm that shit pounds! great gob 5*

  • Nice Job!
