Trick shots are for kids. There's a reason that they're called trick shots instead of deceptive shots or just normal shots. Because they look cool but are actually useless. Look at the trick shots in this video - they're all used when desperate, and the side which uses it rarely wins the rally.

I am 54, very fit and still play an active game of badminton. I still give many younger players a challenging game. I win many shots between the legs and behind the back-trick or not they are impressive-it becomes natural for a few players-it is not desperation shots. I will get back 75% of the attempts and I may only have an opportunity to attempt 1 or 2 in a game.

I thought I just wasn't seeing the "tricks" but then again they aren't really trick shots. Yeah one guy hits it through his legs, but they end up losing the point. And the flick serves aren't tricks just well disguised. As you can hit it left or right you can also hit it long or short too, so not a trick!!

When you're actually viewing badminton on eye level, you get to see the real skill involved. It's very hard to capture a good camera position of the court and what they've come out with is the best they can do, but the game does not look as exciting as if you were in the court eye to eye.
