  • PETRUCCIS TONE IS MUCH BETTER LIVE THAN IN STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDIO.

  • is this song underrated? only 300k viewers

  • Stupenda!

  • i dream theater hanno una preparazione tecnica da paura!

  • lol ok in only started listening to dream theater today....is this the same progressive metal band? i dont wanna offend just in case. but can someone clarify; is this the same amazing band i heard earlier that made 'forsaken' and 'breaking all illusions'..?

  • @TheNathanaelse14 Oh yes, they've changed a lot since their first album. I honestly feel bad for you knowing you've only heard Forsaken and Breaking all Illusions. Check the Metropolis Pt. 2 album, or listen to Metropolis Pt. 1 They have an amazing cluster of music you should check out. Happy listening!

  • @TheNathanaelse14 Dude my Itunes library has a little over a hundred DT songs in it and it's still far from complete. One of the things that makes DT so appealing isn't their genre, but their lack thereof.

What some standard prog with a classic rock feel? Images and Words is your album.

Pure metal? Train of Thought's what you need.

    Alternative Peter Gabriel influence? Octavarium.

All around prog mayhem? Six Degrees.

    There's tons to listen too.

  • @ntate123 absolutely what this guy said. lets not forget one of the best prog rock/metal album of the past 20 years, Scenes From A Memory.

  • LaBrie didn't broke his vocal chords by accident, he did it on purpose to let other singers have a career, was an act of charity :P

  • At the end of Bombay Vindaloo James introduces Surrounded, what happened at the end for the Japanese version which this song is on there instead?

  • אני אתפשר גם על הקלידן

    חחח

  • אני רוצה ת'גיטריסט שלהם אצלי!

    טלי בירנברג

  • THAT FUCKING AWSOME GUITAR INTRO , nuf said !

  • I'm here because, WMG block this video in south america.

Sony, WMG, universal are the cancer wich are killing the music.

  • wow!

  • Fucking yes, James. Yes!

  • This is on the Live at Marquee? Oh my gawd, my friend has the other ones, damnit!

  • funny, even in shitty 240p, it sounds godly!!!

  • fuck ya pavillon dla jeunesse!!! quebec :D

  • @fedethedangerous95 i'm sure you meant "never HEARD such a short song..." as well. =)

  • I can't believe it! Never saw such a short song like this from dream theater '-' LOL

  • Jamies Labri really nailed it!!!!! this is just like the studio version!!!! and awesome solo (as usual) and awesome everythning xD DREAM THEATER FTW

  • visitate il canale dei mantias, bandmantias su youtube!

    W i Dream Theater

  • @Rasheed1986Wallace you mean you'd suck on James Labrie?

  • wuuuuu wooo oh

    (guitar solo)

    live another day

    climb a little higher

    find another reason to stay

  • Here you can notice how Moore actually wrote the melody line for the sax part. That´s my perception I guess. :)

  • @fireinthepentagram Actually, Jay Beckenstein, the guy who played the saxaphone for this song in the studio completely improvised eight different tracks, and the band picked the track they liked the best and put it on the album. Kevin Moore just learned the part on his keyboard for live shows.

  • my ma is like, "he sounds like a woman" and im like, "nooooo? ... he sounds like james labrie"

  • @TheGuitarMetalhead - Actually, it is a soprano saxophone. It was performed in BearTracks studio by Jay Beckenstein for (of course) "Images and Words".

  • @LieutenantFuzz You are correct, the instrument is a Soprano Saxophone. It is similar to a Clarinet, but is made of brass instead of wood

  • Theres no video record of this?

  • la musica classica del metal

  • @Yaroz007 todo el metal es como música clásica con instrumentos modernos

  • apparently this isn't a true live recording, because it was remastered or something. Im not sure where i heard that from can someone confirm or deny?

  • james labrie and freddy mercury are the most amazing male voices of all times!

  • It's actually a soprano saxophone on the studio version. And yes...it's sorely missed.

  • wtf where is the saxxxxx?

  • shame about that food poisoning

  • Simply the best group of musicians ever.

  • Beautiful!

  • Best live band ever. \m/

  • Jimmy Cheese has a great range & people who aint tried to sing outside the bath or the car, i.e for punters, aint got empathy with just how hard it is to nail it every time

BOSS stuff from a Top World Band :clap smiley icon:

  • dream theater is good.

  • Live-at the marquee-The only dream theater work where he's on part with the instrumentalists.

I have only one complain(which is the same complain in some of their other works), I can't hear the fucking bass!!GODDAMMIT !!

  • @stiffaction hardly :P he regularly wiped the floor with them in the early days, in offcial and bootlegs, and his random hand gestures are still second to none! That said, they are all epic so its win all round. Except for Moore maybe.

  • I <3 DreamTheater!!! :D

  • semplicmente stupenda....

  • LaBrie is concentrated win.

  • Score was definitely not overdubbed. If you really listen you know that's Labrie.

  • @4lifeguitar Yeah score isnt overdubbed for vocals, at all, only for guitar parts during cut outs. Which isnt so much overdubbing, as just dubbing :P.

  • there are slight variations, so no it's not lip syncing.

  • @HenrikMoe90@ props man. amazing quality.

  • 3:51 i guess it was not so right...

but I liked it sooo much!

  • Was recorded in studio (different from original album) and lipsynched, definitelly - but common and natural in the phonography industry, what's the big deal? some parts of the songs are tough and the guys are human, every concert they make mistakes... and still a good band with a couple good albuns.

  • @ThyMiguez is this comment a joke? "a good band with a couple good albuns" They aren't a good band, they are an incredible band. They don't have a couple good albuns they have 11 INCREDIBLE albums.

  • @senecadawg2 Well... that's YOUR opinion, fanboy. "Images and Words" is fucking awesome. "Awake" it's a good album and that's it. All the following albums get me bored in 5 minutes...

Beside that, music in general, is a matter of taste so respect my opinion and I'll respect yours.

  • @ThyMiguez saying they have only 2 good albums, the rest suck isn't respectful at all

  • @scullyy I didn't say "the rest SUCK" - YOU did. I said I think it's boring. Where's the lack of respect in my sentence?

  • @ThyMiguez How could you be bored 5 minutes into a dream theater album? Thats like, less than half a song for them, lol

  • For all those who dont know or dont know for sure, this show was overdubbed just like score was... the reason they did it was because Live at the Marquee was their first live release and they wanted it to be perfect... there is a bootleg over the internet of this show, and there you can see the difference in JLB voice...

  • Nah, you can totally tell this ain't overdubbed.

Score wasn't overdubbed either, it's pretty obvious from the way he sang the songs.

  • No, this definately isn't dubbed. He's just singing brilliantly - there are subtle differences. Lovely to hear.

  • is there any video of this live ?

  • This is live for sure. I mean Labrie can have some bad days, but overall, James Labrie is an amazing vocalist. And always will be.

  • @KiiNGDrUmMeR I would argue one of the greatest. Ever.

  • oficina g3 is better

  • labrie at his best !

  • Fuck Man, it doesn't has on my CD

  • a bit Yngwie Malmsteen style

  • this song its just amazing...

i like better the version with the sax thou....

  • Comment removed

  • @pafares It's not a clarinet. It's a soprano saxophone.

  • sucks i got this album and tried to put the killing hand up. im the only person that can view it.

bloody copyright its so good i want other people to hear it haha

  • los shots en todas partes

  • i hope they make an acoustic version

  • @shittxu There's an acoustic version on youtube. 'Tis amazing :) It's just labrie and petrucci. Check it out

  • @shittxu um search it up there is one :P

  • r0g3r is right, they re-recorded the vocals in beartracks, sad to say, but i can remember watching a dt interview when mike even called it "Live at Bear Tracks"

  • well, It should not matter anyway

It's not a compose track of vocals, but a one only full take, so pretty much how he would have sang it live .., not stops for mistakes or anything like that, so its quite natural.

Besides, the only reason why this was re recorded was because of the poor mic sound that evening, Live in tokyo is just as good

  • Ya of course, I was just saying that it was indeed re-recorded. I'm sure Labrie would've blown us away as usual :) And in his prime, I'm sure the only reason they re-recorded was because of poor mic quality. I was just trying to back up r0g3r because he got a thumbs down for saying the truth

  • listen to him when he was in "Winter Rose" if you think he was good here. Type in james labrie winter rose

  • There are no fucking words in the WHOLE universe to describe how AWESOME this is!!!!

  • is this realy a live recording?i mean labrie's voice sound exactly like the studio recording..which by the way is unusual to labrie..no offense though..but he nailed it perfectly note by note!..too bad the sax part was done by keyboards..but it was great anyway!

  • it is.. 2 good to be true i know.. but it is.. its awsome

  • The vocals were re-recorded in the same studio where they recorded Images and Words, the music was done live @ the marquee.

  • @tonalang this recording is allmost 20 years old! Labrie didn't have his vocal injury problems (and his age) back then!

  • @tonalang He used to do that back then :) or... he used to do it better live than in the studio!

  • @tonalang MAN! listen to the live record in tokyo of pull me under. you listen to his voice and you shit in your pants. i leave you the link if you want. he used to sing better than in studio live, but i dont know why after a while he dont reach to the same notes. now he is singing great again. Long live James Labrie :)

  • @tonalang This album....LaBrie was a God. He was just overpowered. So overpowered he had to be nerfed later in life. Anyone who doesn't think LaBrie has the chops need only listen to this album to know that history will always find him guilty of kicking obscene amounts of ass in his heyday.

  • @CloudcoleVII well said x)

  • @CloudcoleVII absolutely. and although never again to this album's peak, he certainly does recover more and more every album.

  • @tonalang it was 1992 and LaBrie had still a good voice... besides the voice in this recording is a bit different...

  • @tonalang Yes this is definitley live, from 3:51 to 3:55 he sounds different then he does on his studio recording...

  • @tonalang It's live. There are subtle differences. He just had a really good night.

  • @tonalang This isn't the Live at the Marquee version. This is an acoustic version from the "Acoustic Dreams" bootleg. 2 VERY different recordings...

  • @tonalang Actually its not a sax that plays the part its a clarinet, and yeah it still sucks that the keyboard plays it lol

  • @TheGuitarMetalhead A clarinet ? Are you certain ? I always thought it was a soprano saxophone.

  • @TheBrokenFibula No it actually is a clarinet, pretty wicked huh?

  • @TheGuitarMetalhead its a soprano sax derp

  • @TheGuitarMetalhead definitely not a clarinet - soprano sax for sure (I play clarinet, I know the sound of my own instrument, plus it's shown on this DVD).

  • @TheOvermaster its not a sax neither! it's just a synthesizer keyboard. hahaha. the studio version i think is the one with the soprano sax.

  • @TheOvermaster Yep. I even have the CD booklet right here. It says, "Soprano Sax on 'Another Day' by Jay Beckenstein."

  • @tonalang It wasn't unusual at all during these days lol

  • @tonalang i think james is even better than in the studio version :) its really amazing how inspired he was in this show.

  • @tonalang After the accident that ruined his vocal folds, nothing was the same again.

  • F**k this is great!

  • best labrie's live recording ever

  • He actually re-recorded this later on at beartracks haha.

  • @dreamfields72 Sadly..

  • now i am actually starting to like D.T from this song..nice :)

  • watch?v=t9-ugDDv-_o

  • what's that?

  • its a soprano sax on the album. synth here

  • bellissima

  • where can i get this mp3 besides japanese edition of the album?

  • sebastian bach didnt have to get sick to lose his voice....i hope id have a son who gets labrie's talent...i would retire immediately

  • you guys sure he didnt lipsynche?

  • You meen overdubed? Maybe. But who cares. "Score" was overdubed(I have heard). He was a god from he started singing to his vocal rupture in 95. Now he is only the greatest singer in the world...

  • He ruptured them in 94.

  • @HenrikMoe90 I doubt Score was overdubbed. I remember him being off key more than a couple times (though maybe I'm confusing this with Live at Budokan), and it seems unlikely they'd overdub a concert with a less than stellar performance.

All of which is no offense intended towards LaBrie, he's a damn sight better than most singers out there even when he does miss a few notes.

  • @HenrikMoe90 nah Score wasn't overdubbed. The reason he still sounds godly in Score is cause it was the end of a tour, so he didn't have to preserve his voice. Also, it was for a DVD so he went all-out.

  • @HenrikMoe90 Score definately wasn't overdubbed, you can tell it's 100% live just by listening to labrie's vocals and there are probably a few mistakes in score as well.

  • @Spermwhales93 Score certainly wasn't overdubbed. There may have been some spots where they may have fixed his vocals, but the vocals are pretty much entirely raw. No overdubs whatsoever.

  • @HenrikMoe90 I've know that yes, indeed they did overdub vocals for Live at the Marquee (though I don't know if they overdubed this song because it's not on all versions of the CD)

I don't know about overdubbing Score. I just have a feeling that they didn't maybe cause it's a dvd and you could tell if they did that. I really don't know though.

  • @HenrikMoe90 I am quite sure he did not overdub in SCORE...

  • He didn't, you can tell that due to some words being different than the lyrics on the album.

  • @attydwardsky He never overdubbed...

  • @attydwardsky You really think James is lipsynching? That is an insult.

  • Labrie RULES!!!

  • saxophone solo at the end is so nice :)

i found the sheet music for the entire album if anyone wants it ;)

  • at the end there's Moore playing the sax part with the keyboard! Moore's a fucking genius!!!!

can u please share the music sheet? =)

  • sorry my friend but that doesnt sound like sax

  • It says in the sheet music for this song that it's a Soprano Saxophone, and I think you'll find it does sound like a sax :( listen to some more songs which use a soprano sax and maybe you will hear it

  • BTW when I wrote that message I meant the studio recording of this song. Sorry, I forgot this was a live version.

  • i thought so...

  • lol. its a sax. Just in the live versions its on the synth. duh. its not like JP is just gonna pull out a sax from his bear cave.

  • i know its a sax on the album version

  • I sure do.

  • this band and especially this song remind me me of my youth years

  • amazing
