We have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 (1%) API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs/Injection and tank clean and rustfree!

Just looking at a different transmission for an '84 Cutlass with a 350 Chevy racing build(about 350-400HP). I have been told that amount of power would rip overdrive out.
It has a 310 Turbo(unknown if it has any work aside from shift kit) currently, which seems to hold well.
mufflers do not add hp. the only thing a decent muffler can is eliminate parasitic hp loss. you might gain 5-10 hp MAX, certainly no muffler will give you 30-45 hp. and that 5-10 is with also getting headers and a good quality cat. mufflers certainly do NOT make add hp.
@jcue2007 you are not entirely correct we BORE a cylinder to reach a 30 40 60 80 120 and so on in large engines , then finish HONE the last .003" of the bore with #220 or #280 grit abrasives to help with ring seal so befor you make fun make sure you know any machine shop will use the lingo bore it out just google it Block Work

turbos are actually better then superchargers...because turbos wear themselves out while superchargers break down the engine...but the downside to a turbo is if in a race the supercharger will have the headstart because the turbo kicks in when its in 3000 rpm...but you probably already knew that
ok, not all turbos come in at 3000 rpm. its all about trim, wastegate, not all turbos are the same, some "spool" faster then others creating boost at a lower rpm, some spool slower creating more boost at a higher rpm. it all depends. its alot more work then just slapping a turbo on 1 of these cars, its not a honda ya know,lol

@ryderx3x3 a turbo would be better and sc takes power away so turbos have a advantage there, more power pontial, its cheap like a muscle car should be. so then you can go all throttle and add a bottle of nos and youll be gone.
