I cant believe these people applaud these broads screaming into microphones about events that happened b4 they were alive.
@angrycitizen7 Well I'm Taiwanese-American, and when I was little, my mom used to tell me about Asian history in the car. It wasn't exclusive to Taiwan; I learned about Hiroshima, Nagasaki, comfort women, and geishas. Also, they were mentioning historical events, not implying that they lived through it. I think that instead of creating dividers, we should stand in solidarity with each other. This doesn't mean differences shouldn't be recognized, they just shouldn't be barriers.
I love this angry peice of art. Its time this country realized that the Asian woman is not an object for asiaphiles to drool over, us Asian men are not timid bitch ass eunuchs, and none of us are how the tv makes us out to be.
Yea I'm black woman and I get looked at the same way . So I respect these two girls caue I kno what they are talking about! Its like If your a minority you get looked at as trash. SMH at some people these days!
I love this poem so much I know all the words I am not asian but damn ppl always trying to define you through thier eyes. And its bullshit....MOTHERFUCKER IMMA BOUT TO GET RAW!
That's true but the point is that neither do people of other races - they don't see the different types of nationalities and categorize all Asians into one group. So they all get treated the same in today's society. And that's why these two ladies can generalize so well.
@CalcBoy91 Yeah and it's not like all asians like eachother,So yup if they like the asian culture than they really need to look into it before they seriously offend someone.
This video totally contradicts what is perpetuated by Whites in the Model Minority Myth. These chicks rock! Plus, hip hop started with Asians in New York when the misconception is that it was begun by African Americans as part of African American culture.
I love this poem!! im part japanese and i totally agree with them. yeah it's ok if you want to learn the asian culture but don't go assuming things because it really ticks us off.
I love this poem. they are super amazing. it doesnt just speak for the asian community but for everyone. it says dont assume about others when you just barely grazed the surface of that persons culture or life
I completely disagree with this piece. I think people ought to share cultures, not think "Because I'm Asian, you're not allowed to know anything about my culture." This is extremely divisive and hugely counterproductive.
@clarissayeh i think the message is more about presumptuousness. is it not presumptuous to assume that because u have a fake asian tattoo and u like lucy liu that u know everything about being asian? people should learn about other cultures, not just think that what passes for ‘asian’ in america is legit. plus, why should asian americans be responsible for ‘sharing’ their culture when most people aren’t even interested in real thing? and speaking out against racism = never counterproductive
@girlinhyacinthblue Sorry but i just think this poetry is just garbage though. The concept is just stupid to me. I think what they call 'asiaphiles' are just people interested in the culture. Isn't that better than what other cultures have to go through which is being verbally abused or assualted, just becuase they're hatred for that culture was so high? E.g, although I'm not indian I've seen horrific racism against indians. They're still humble. I don't see them complaining about 'Indiaphiles'.
I would agree with you, except that if fighting against presumptuous people is the theme, then the whole bit about him man-handling the language wouldn't fit. I try to teach my boyfriend Mandarin and Cantonese all the time and he consistently fucks it up. I think it's hilarious.
@clarissayeh if they meant just misprounouncing things it would be a lil much, but they don't. the 'manhandling' = using the language to be sleazy and fetishizing, and that's fucked up.
@clarissayeh I agree that no one should be like that about their culture, but I don't feel like they are saying that. We are so into what we think is the Asian culture(ie tats, food, karate etc) without knowing fundamental things like their history
@clarissayeh I think you read this performance differently than I. The two women performing are mixed race Asian. How I saw it (at least in the first half) they are speaking to non-Asian men whom have Asian fetishes and/or "yellow fever" who constantly try to tell these two women that they are not "really" Asian or not Asian "enough" because they are mixed race (re: "that makes you an expert on how I should look?). Try rewatching it within that context and see if you like it any better :)
WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT GANDHI?! oh, well that he was a Indian? lmao if your so upset that people wanna be like you get the fuck over it, im an irish American, i get shit every st patricks day when i see every race try to be like me, than im just a white guy that owned slaves hate minorities thats from suburbia. Yet my family has only been here 80 years and im from mt.vernon. But I got this thing called a backbone and maturity. Good poem none the less, stupid fucking meaning though.
India is IN Asia you dumbass. At least people don't spit on you and think less of you and call you an animal because you're black or Asian or Native American like me, you just get called a fucking leprechaun and can make fun of ignorant people once a year, there is no real modern stigma against Irish Americas. You don't know the real sting of racism.
@erpjlu but its too different haplo-groups you fucking tard. And lmao really now? , Im native american too, Mohawk Tribe from the Iroquois nation, so blow me on that, BTW my family would still be in our homeland, oh wait there was a genocide 100 years ago, woops. And I don't know the real sting? try getting a razor to your throat at the age of 12 because your skins white. come bleach your skin and live in my 80% minority town and see how your fuckin perspective don't change.
As much as I can respect the message, spoken word is an absolutely awful form of delivering it. It just alienates people by insulting them and making it seem like you are a just an angsty whiner.
@Demonsith12345 If your'e offended, that was the fucking point. And why is it that when a black woman does this people cheer and call her a BAMF but when she's Asian it's just WHINING?
I really think that these ladies are not just using their own voices / perspectives, I see them as representing all asian women no matter your nationality or your ethnicity. So saying that a Korean woman can't possibly know anything about Saigon is missing the point because I don't think they're trying to assert that they know all that but rather, they're giving a voice to all asian women who felt like they have been unfairly objectified.
@sammyjs1983 They do have parents, just like you. But did you like not read the topic? "Yellow RAGE" And i'm pretty positive rage=angry. So they do have manners, they are just expressing their anger from stupid racists against Asians.
I'm a white girl living in an asian country and it's ironic but I feel like these girls gave words to what makes me so annoyed every time some guy shouts HELLO HOW ARE YOU WHERE YOU COME FROM from across the street and doesn't understand why I just sigh and walk away, or every time someone assumes I'm American or tries to show off everything they know about "my" country.
Now if only I could spit rhymes like that in Mandarin...
@twiztidlestat india is IN asia, ignoramus. that means those from india are ASIAN. that's like saying queen elizabeth is english not european. fucking dumbass.
for those who ask why their so angry?? its an angry topic, if you're asking that question, you've obviously never been on the receiving end of racism and lemme tell you something, it HURTS
@Fullhouserocks23 I feel you. I'm not asian but I'm a black American woman with Latino and Carribean roots. I've had my experiences with racism too. I know EXACTLY what you're saying....
@Fullhouserocks23 Yeah I would know, I'm one of the few black people in my town, and I felt excluded a lot of the time. Although I did get over it and I embraced the differences between the towns population and myself. I know embrace the akwardness that know surrounds me whenever race is brought up, and I can laugh at myself and everyone else and I tought others to laugh at themselves and everyone else. I did this through talking not shouting, laughing not raging.
this reminds me of those people on reality shows like Real World who need to be 'taught' by a black person as if they have NOTHING better to do than teach them stuff.
This poem is much like Beau Sia's poem Hip Hop. They're talking about white people who are telling them about their experience as if they understand, which is patently untrue. It's incredibly difficult for the oppressor to sympathize or empathize with the persecuted.
@galahad524 Asia isn't a neighbourhood. That's like saying the English understand German history, or the Italians understand Czech history. Why would white people understand any less than them? Especially ex-pats and the like.
@definitelynotadj you're kinda making their point and at the same time missing their point. Yellow Rage is speaking to a specific subset of people, not necessarily white people or a specific nationality, they're talking about Orientalism and speaking to Asiaphiles broadly. Just because you have read something doesn't make you an expert on it. Just because someone has read The Souls of Black Folk doesn't mean that they understand "the black condition" and the racism endemic to America.
@galahad524 But I guarantee there are hundreds upon thousands of so-called 'Asiaphiles' (which I guess is a term which only applies to caucasians) who know infinitely more than either two of these women about every single topic they mention, even 'their' language and especially the topics which don't concern them in the slightest.
I don't know, I understand their point, but they make it in an abrasive, antagonistic and offensive manor.
@definitelynotadj 1. Asiaphile is a term that can apply to anyone, however, caucasians do probably make up the majority of them. there is a long history of white people adopting other cultures from white Mughals, to white (American) Indians, to the modern day so-called wigger.
2. Truly knowledgeable Asiaphiles would probably have the good sense to not patronize an Asian person about their own culture.
3. As far as being abrasive, they're countering stereotypes. And, they're name is Yellow RAGE
First, think about it. Dead people can't tell you anything. They're dead, they don't talk much.
Second, I didn't say that. I said that they don't know about it, because it's not their history. Neither is it the history of their ancestors. It is however, the history of YOUR ancestors.
You're 14, and you seem intelligent for your age. But you'll gain further perspective with age. Learn what a 'straw man fallacy' is, that's what you're doing.
@definitelynotadj A strawman fallacy occurs when a speaker or writer distorts, exaggerates, or misrepresents an opponents position. It is akin to a hyperbole. However, who are you talking to, the person who posted this video?
What the hell do a Korean and a Chinese woman know about Napalm and Saigon? Certainly no less than an American who has lived there for 10 years. They're railing on about stereotypes, but don't realise that they're actually propogating one themselves, the stereotype of an 'asiaphile' who needs to 'bacdafucup' what is this?
@definitelynotadj you have no idea the message they are trying to get around. Basically what these Asian women are trying to say is that people are clueless to them. They know more than you obviously. and btw They chose those words to show how people fuck what they say up. Seriously? You need to read between th lines
@MsLitaDiva It seems you misunderstood what I said. They claim that we're clueless to them, and they claim such superior knowledge, without realising that they themselves are equally ignorant. The ad hominem was unnecesary. Also, 'Asian' is such a blanket term it's almost meaningless, it's about as useful as using 'caucasian' to refer to culture. Please, don't patronise me, I perfectly understand what they're trying to say, I just feel they've missed the larger issue.
@definitelynotadj How are they themselves clueless? Intelligent women don't mention shit they have no idea about. If they missed the larger issue they wouldn't have written this. The 'larger issue' you seem to be referring to is in plain sight. It wasn't about the whole of and yes I'm going to say it Asian culture it's about the discrimination they faced. They got the issue across fine. You're looking beyond what the poem is about instead of the words.
@MsLitaDiva So they know about The Vietnam war? They know about the Nuclear bombs dropped in Japan by America, decades before they were born? They claim that we, as non-asians, are ignorant, when they, as non-vietnamese and non-japanese, are equally as ignorant.
Also, you've changed your tact. Before you said 'read between the lines' now you're saying 'just read the god-damn lines!'
What I'm saying, is that they themselves are discriminating, through this poem. Ironic, no?
@definitelynotadj Ok did you go to school? If so 2 things 1. They talk about it in asian and american schools. Our mistakes we made through fighting tactics. 2. Even they didn't learn about it in school, their ancestors probably told them. Vietnam is an asian country so of course they would've heard about it. Discriminating how? Becuase they're stating the facts? So what you're trying to tell me is if I speak of my slave ancestors who were brought here illeagaly, I'm discriminating. Not ignorant
@MsLitaDiva Their ancestors!? First of all, look that up in a dictionary, and you'll understand how their ancestors couldn't possibly tell them anything. And secondly, consider the fact that most Chinese do not share ancestry with anyone involved in the vietnam war, on the other hand, most Americans do!
@definitelynotadj Btw ancestors is anybody dead who was related to you. My Great-Grandmother told me about WW2. I wasn't born and neither was my mother. So you're trying to tell me because I know about something before my time, it's not the truth? Wrong. Also, you can't leave any school without taking history of your country so like I said we're back to the school thing. I know about stuff from the 1920's and I was born 77 years later. See how you make your case plummet
@definitelynotadj And also, if you can state facts about wars back in the 1800's lets say The war of 1812 or even when they had the allied and central powers this makes you ignorant because you are correct and knowledgable about that topic. And btw Asian covers Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Turkish, Korean, Mongolian, Cambodian, Indonesian, Thai, Phillipian, and etc. So they knore more than you obviously no?
@definitelynotadj what the hell are you, a philosopher or an expert on logical fallacies? Ad hominem, straw man,,,what's next ad hoc, ergo propter hoc? Or maybe a proof surrogate, subjectivist fallacy, relativist fallacy, genetic fallacy, misplacing the burden of proof, or red herring? Don't be an ass and act like you know what it feels like to be stigmatized by society for being a minority. These women know exactly what they are saying. As an Asian Pacific American, I totally agree with them.
@CalcBoy91 If you read the chain of comments, you could see who I was speaking to. I made these comments 7 months ago, and haven't listened to the poem since. You have no way of knowing what my race is or if I have experienced being a minority. Actually, I have. My point was, to clarify: These two women are actually perpetuating a racial stereotype about caucasians.
@definitelynotadj this is a reply to the post that begins: "What the hell do a Korean and a Chinese woman know about Napalm and Saigon? Certainly no less than an American who has lived there for 10 years.
You're missing the point, they are not speaking entirely for themselves but rather Asians as a whole. Much like how party politicians claim to be speaking for the entire political party. Yellow Rage is a poetic duo, not a poetry group comprised of individuals from every Asian country.
Good message but I feel their point could've been better made without all the profanity. Sometimes it amplifies a point but here it was a bit excessive.
@ RareJade. I agree with the sumo guy. That was too much cussing in that 2-minute poem. I understand that its uncensored but seriously, think about people who would be turned off by it. If you want people to hear what u have to say, make it something for all to enjoy.
@lhenle55 I believe their usage of profanity is to counter the stereotype that Asian women are quiet and submissive. Like most poems, it has a lot of meanings - you just have to look deeper and at the surrounding circumstances.
@lhenle55 exactly, i got into less than a minute of the poem and had to stop, i love poetry but being a teenager, i can't stand all the swearing, esp. as it seems to be UNNECESSARY!. in those 50secs i don't feel it added any emphasis whats so ever!

for those who ask why their so angry?? its an angry topic, if you're asking that question, you've obviously never been on the receiving end of racism and lemme tell you something, it HURTS
Fullhouserocks23 9 months ago 107
@Fullhouserocks23 I feel you. I'm not asian but I'm a black American woman with Latino and Carribean roots. I've had my experiences with racism too. I know EXACTLY what you're saying....
LadyofWar1980 9 months ago
@Fullhouserocks23 Yeah I would know, I'm one of the few black people in my town, and I felt excluded a lot of the time. Although I did get over it and I embraced the differences between the towns population and myself. I know embrace the akwardness that know surrounds me whenever race is brought up, and I can laugh at myself and everyone else and I tought others to laugh at themselves and everyone else. I did this through talking not shouting, laughing not raging.
BigBis1337 6 months ago
this reminds me of those people on reality shows like Real World who need to be 'taught' by a black person as if they have NOTHING better to do than teach them stuff.

ChanelJustice 10 months ago 2
This poem is much like Beau Sia's poem Hip Hop. They're talking about white people who are telling them about their experience as if they understand, which is patently untrue. It's incredibly difficult for the oppressor to sympathize or empathize with the persecuted.
galahad524 10 months ago
@galahad524 Asia isn't a neighbourhood. That's like saying the English understand German history, or the Italians understand Czech history. Why would white people understand any less than them? Especially ex-pats and the like.
definitelynotadj 10 months ago
@definitelynotadj you're kinda making their point and at the same time missing their point. Yellow Rage is speaking to a specific subset of people, not necessarily white people or a specific nationality, they're talking about Orientalism and speaking to Asiaphiles broadly. Just because you have read something doesn't make you an expert on it. Just because someone has read The Souls of Black Folk doesn't mean that they understand "the black condition" and the racism endemic to America.
galahad524 10 months ago 4
@galahad524 But I guarantee there are hundreds upon thousands of so-called 'Asiaphiles' (which I guess is a term which only applies to caucasians) who know infinitely more than either two of these women about every single topic they mention, even 'their' language and especially the topics which don't concern them in the slightest.
I don't know, I understand their point, but they make it in an abrasive, antagonistic and offensive manor.
definitelynotadj 10 months ago
@definitelynotadj 1. Asiaphile is a term that can apply to anyone, however, caucasians do probably make up the majority of them. there is a long history of white people adopting other cultures from white Mughals, to white (American) Indians, to the modern day so-called wigger.
2. Truly knowledgeable Asiaphiles would probably have the good sense to not patronize an Asian person about their own culture.
3. As far as being abrasive, they're countering stereotypes. And, they're name is Yellow RAGE
galahad524 10 months ago 4
First, think about it. Dead people can't tell you anything. They're dead, they don't talk much.
Second, I didn't say that. I said that they don't know about it, because it's not their history. Neither is it the history of their ancestors. It is however, the history of YOUR ancestors.
You're 14, and you seem intelligent for your age. But you'll gain further perspective with age. Learn what a 'straw man fallacy' is, that's what you're doing.
definitelynotadj 10 months ago
@definitelynotadj A strawman fallacy occurs when a speaker or writer distorts, exaggerates, or misrepresents an opponents position. It is akin to a hyperbole. However, who are you talking to, the person who posted this video?
CalcBoy91 3 months ago
What the hell do a Korean and a Chinese woman know about Napalm and Saigon? Certainly no less than an American who has lived there for 10 years. They're railing on about stereotypes, but don't realise that they're actually propogating one themselves, the stereotype of an 'asiaphile' who needs to 'bacdafucup' what is this?
Seriously?
These kids need some real perspective.
definitelynotadj 10 months ago
@definitelynotadj you have no idea the message they are trying to get around. Basically what these Asian women are trying to say is that people are clueless to them. They know more than you obviously. and btw They chose those words to show how people fuck what they say up. Seriously? You need to read between th lines
MsLitaDiva 10 months ago
@MsLitaDiva It seems you misunderstood what I said. They claim that we're clueless to them, and they claim such superior knowledge, without realising that they themselves are equally ignorant. The ad hominem was unnecesary. Also, 'Asian' is such a blanket term it's almost meaningless, it's about as useful as using 'caucasian' to refer to culture. Please, don't patronise me, I perfectly understand what they're trying to say, I just feel they've missed the larger issue.
definitelynotadj 10 months ago
@definitelynotadj How are they themselves clueless? Intelligent women don't mention shit they have no idea about. If they missed the larger issue they wouldn't have written this. The 'larger issue' you seem to be referring to is in plain sight. It wasn't about the whole of and yes I'm going to say it Asian culture it's about the discrimination they faced. They got the issue across fine. You're looking beyond what the poem is about instead of the words.
MsLitaDiva 10 months ago
@MsLitaDiva So they know about The Vietnam war? They know about the Nuclear bombs dropped in Japan by America, decades before they were born? They claim that we, as non-asians, are ignorant, when they, as non-vietnamese and non-japanese, are equally as ignorant.
Also, you've changed your tact. Before you said 'read between the lines' now you're saying 'just read the god-damn lines!'
What I'm saying, is that they themselves are discriminating, through this poem. Ironic, no?
definitelynotadj 10 months ago
@definitelynotadj Ok did you go to school? If so 2 things 1. They talk about it in asian and american schools. Our mistakes we made through fighting tactics. 2. Even they didn't learn about it in school, their ancestors probably told them. Vietnam is an asian country so of course they would've heard about it. Discriminating how? Becuase they're stating the facts? So what you're trying to tell me is if I speak of my slave ancestors who were brought here illeagaly, I'm discriminating. Not ignorant
MsLitaDiva 10 months ago 2
@MsLitaDiva Their ancestors!? First of all, look that up in a dictionary, and you'll understand how their ancestors couldn't possibly tell them anything. And secondly, consider the fact that most Chinese do not share ancestry with anyone involved in the vietnam war, on the other hand, most Americans do!
You're... so missing the point it's painful.
definitelynotadj 10 months ago
@definitelynotadj Btw ancestors is anybody dead who was related to you. My Great-Grandmother told me about WW2. I wasn't born and neither was my mother. So you're trying to tell me because I know about something before my time, it's not the truth? Wrong. Also, you can't leave any school without taking history of your country so like I said we're back to the school thing. I know about stuff from the 1920's and I was born 77 years later. See how you make your case plummet
MsLitaDiva 10 months ago
@definitelynotadj And also, if you can state facts about wars back in the 1800's lets say The war of 1812 or even when they had the allied and central powers this makes you ignorant because you are correct and knowledgable about that topic. And btw Asian covers Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Turkish, Korean, Mongolian, Cambodian, Indonesian, Thai, Phillipian, and etc. So they knore more than you obviously no?
MsLitaDiva 10 months ago
@definitelynotadj what the hell are you, a philosopher or an expert on logical fallacies? Ad hominem, straw man,,,what's next ad hoc, ergo propter hoc? Or maybe a proof surrogate, subjectivist fallacy, relativist fallacy, genetic fallacy, misplacing the burden of proof, or red herring? Don't be an ass and act like you know what it feels like to be stigmatized by society for being a minority. These women know exactly what they are saying. As an Asian Pacific American, I totally agree with them.
CalcBoy91 3 months ago
@CalcBoy91 If you read the chain of comments, you could see who I was speaking to. I made these comments 7 months ago, and haven't listened to the poem since. You have no way of knowing what my race is or if I have experienced being a minority. Actually, I have. My point was, to clarify: These two women are actually perpetuating a racial stereotype about caucasians.
definitelynotadj 3 months ago
@definitelynotadj this is a reply to the post that begins: "What the hell do a Korean and a Chinese woman know about Napalm and Saigon? Certainly no less than an American who has lived there for 10 years.
You're missing the point, they are not speaking entirely for themselves but rather Asians as a whole. Much like how party politicians claim to be speaking for the entire political party. Yellow Rage is a poetic duo, not a poetry group comprised of individuals from every Asian country.

@ RareJade. I agree with the sumo guy. That was too much cussing in that 2-minute poem. I understand that its uncensored but seriously, think about people who would be turned off by it. If you want people to hear what u have to say, make it something for all to enjoy.
lhenle55 11 months ago 2
@lhenle55 I believe their usage of profanity is to counter the stereotype that Asian women are quiet and submissive. Like most poems, it has a lot of meanings - you just have to look deeper and at the surrounding circumstances.
mnstpdu08 10 months ago 31
@lhenle55 exactly, i got into less than a minute of the poem and had to stop, i love poetry but being a teenager, i can't stand all the swearing, esp. as it seems to be UNNECESSARY!. in those 50secs i don't feel it added any emphasis whats so ever!
