what happens if you loose power? they used to have the fundamental instruments at least two times, and once the old fashioned way, analog, which work without power. now if you have no power your fucked?

@zimThuet when you loose power, you also loose the vacuum system - therefore all instruments based on it, including old fashioned, analog instruments. That's why airplanes are equipped with RAT (Ram Air Turbine) and APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) which both provide electricity for the most important flight systems in an event of power loss.

20% fuel saving over other aircraft flying today..HUD and EFB standard..retains tactile feedback for pilots.not 100% FBW like Airbus so pilots can fly plane conventionally without computers..good-looking unlike A380..Faster than Airbus...perfect plane for C21st...With this,Boeing deserve the lions share of the market.Far better manufacturer.

@airbus91 FMC is a flight management computer. The computer itself is a component of a glass cockpit. The cockpit panel of the 787 has HUGE screens for NDs & can depict both nav and eng gages. It has a HUD, and the horizontal flight guidance depiction on the ND. The 787 has an ERS for navigation--777has an ADIRU. The ERS is a "highly improved" ADIRU which Boeing says it cannot fail. The FMC computers themselves are basically the same as the 777.
