You are right. Johnson did this in Barcelona. He was favorite to win, but pulled up lame. I believe MArsh won the gold and the silver went to Fredericks.

aaah, with all due respect to Maurcie and especially MJ, who in by books is the greatest sprinter ever, did u guys know that Donovan Bailey actually has the fastest 'top speed' by a human being? Check out his World Record run in Atlanta. You see how far back he was! He had to reach top speed of 43.45 km/h (12.069 m/s) in order to catch up! Pretty good eh.

What? MJ was so cocky at the beginning of his career, especially after the 1991 Worlds. The reason why he was somewhat humbled was 1: he didn't make the finals of the 200m at the 1992 Olympics, when he was ranked 1 2: He got his ass kicked but Bailey in that match race, after trying to proclaim he was the "worlds fastest man/human"!

Yeah, you stick with a loser! Even though both MJ and Mo could be referred as "cocky", at least they were proven winners. I can't say the same of Asafa who is a known choke artist and can't get the job done when it matters. I rather win World and Olympic golds, and have my name mention with legends of the sport than always losing in front of a world audience! Good luck sticking with Asafa.

I'm positive Asafa will win the Gold medal he deserves..perhaps a new coach needed to pin-point his weak spots..but easily I would say one of the greatest runners of all time..

Hey, Asafa has the chance and opportunity to surpass Mo Greene as the greatest 50m to 100m sprinter of all time. Given his age and barring any injuries, he should be able to pass Greene for the most sub 10's in history. He also should be able to run in several more worlds and probably the next 2 Olympics because he would be 30 by 2012!But Asafa needs to win now because in most sports it's titles that your "greatnest" will be judge by!

Yea he does..but he has CRITICAL weak points that affect his running..like his nerves..and lack of concentration.
I really hope he wins one bcuz I feel he is a tru epidemy of greatness. He has the skills, the charm, the humbleness, the personability...

The 200m is about maintain your top in the 2nd 100m. Even the idiots at NBC broke down Johnson race from 96. Johnson only ran 10.12 over the 1st 100m and ran 9.2 in the 2nd half.

What you talk`in bout fool, history has proven that the 100m world record gets broken bt 100`s of a second every few years, regardless of who holds it at the time. Where as Johnson`s WR in both 200m & 400m will never be beaten as we were witnessing a phenominal athlete at the peak of his powers not only smash the 200m & the 400m which had stood for decades. So Gay Tyson or what ever his name is might break the 100m but no way will he even come close to the 200m.=)

MJ has a very unique , but, weird running style. I tried it before and it's VERY HARD to sprint while leaning your back backwards. I prefer Mo Greene's style: THE USUAL WAY.

Michael Johnson ran 19.32 200m, which is already faster pace than Maurice Greene's 9.79 100m, if Micheal Johnson was still in his prime he could run a faster 100m than Maurice Greene

You're any idiot, the 100m, your are starting from a dead stop and have to accelerate and hit your top speed, MJ wasn't a 100m runner, he would get destroy by Greene, Powell, Gay, Bolden, Bailey, Fredericks, Surin, Crawford over 100m
