Hey Nutn I know this is an old video but in some of your other vids you do this too Camillus Knives is pronounced Cah-mill-us take it from someone who lives a couple hours from the original factory and town in NY. Keep crankin out the awsome vids
@LemursHateBirds lmfao dirt bag? your mother, now thats a dirtbag for having the likes of you. you know NOTHING about nutn and your calling him a dirtbg. I hope you receive yours in the same fashion.
Do you always have to kick a dead horse? Man stop being a blow hard and get to the point. I don't know why I end up watching your post. You lost me with picking the Aimpoint over the Eoteck and you still don't get it. Just tell the fact's and cut out the babble.
@M40Hawkeye I carry my personal Kraton handle black KA-BAR into combat (with my Ek Commando), I say Kraton. The leather is more comfortable with gloves, but the Kraton is more durable.
@BeLikeSeCeL Edit: I don't know if you're mocking me or being respectful, but in any case i apologize for any inconvenience i caused. I was just expressing my feelings at the moment, and i'd seen the top comment. Peace.
I found a next gen on ebay and I noticed right away the blade looked smoother than the others and there was no number below the "USA" stamp, I thought it might be the blasted version so I jumped on it. I just got it today and my suspicions were correct, it is indeed 'Ol Blasty. I paid $80, not bad for an extinct blade.
I love his video, but it kills me every time he talks about WD40.. seriously, thats like a man in the shop out in the backyard who cant work without using an industrial style of fueled fire. (i mean some high tech gas burning heater) i hate being dependent on things for simple tasks..
do you prefer the leather handle of the kraton handle.. anyone can weigh in i need help in deciding i think the leather ones are more ascetically pleasing but i think the kraton will hold up more
@Dedicated222Duty I heard that overtime people who have dealt with Kraton blades have reported it gets a foul odor from it, others have reported theirs became tacky/gooey and that they could pry it off with their fingernail. Your thoughts? I could go both ways with either leather or Kraton.
@TAYL0R16 Hm i don't know about the fould odor part, mine's never smelled bad after a little over a year of taking it on backpacking and camping trips. But i can vouch for the tacky gooey part, after a while of use, the handle CAN become somewhat nasty.
What do you mean that's not really good?! that top guard pisses me the hell off!!! I took mine off of all of my ka bars: makes for a better grip and you can choke up on it more for finer work
Why do you talk about the sheath's? That has nothing to do with the knife... Thats like talking about your brand new computer you just built, and spend 80% of the time talking about the case. What a tool.
@sandythebear no the problem is that i dont live in nyc, i need to tell my brother to pick it up but i need to give him an adress or at leats the name of a store. im not in the us so i cant order online.
i just bought mine from a guy who had a whole bunch of them and wanted to get rid of them. it was never used (it was still in the plastic bag thing) and it only cost me 55 euros! It is indeed a great knife, i got the model 1222. It feels very comfortable if you knwo what i mean.
check out the latest D2 steel version..basically indestructabke, same sheath , comes in silv-powder coat or black tiox.....I found the wood splitting to be remarkable, and yes....it is wedge shaped!....you would be surprised if you're doing it right......toughness and wear resistance cant be beat,,, only negative is a little hard to sharpen but not as hard as sv30!......good stuff all around!!
I saw an actual test of one of these next gen kabars, it took considerable damage whereas some other knives of same caliber just went unscathed. People, don't fall victims for ads.
hey i no you probly wont have time to reply but if anyone els can help me im looking for a survival knife that i can use for about everything. I want it to be under $150 please help
@WildLifeGuy308 A very good survival knife, for the money, is the Ontario ASEK knife. It is a true military survival escape knife. Made in the USA. About $100 on eBay. Shop around for the best price (including shipping). I hope this helps.
i found a marine combat knife that was in great condition!! it cam in a sheath along with a flint block to start fires and it had a compass on the bottom of the handle wich unscrewed and it had unused matches in it it was great find and the blade had no rust i was lucky to find it
Personaly I do not like saw blades on my knives because I like to cut things with that part of the blade. "strings, split kindling, shavings for fire, severing rope, etc."
In Korea the brass suggested that we aquire a double edged blade for a combat knife. I do not recall what we were issued, but obviously not a double edged blade. I love those old k-bar surplus knives. They held an edge, which is more than can be said for modern knives. I have even given up on boker, and uncle Henry.
This isn't used y the US Marine Corps. The Ontario Knife Company 3s was introduced as the Marine corps combat knife in 2003. It is 1095 carbon steel, and has a kydex sheath. It runs about 100 bucks. This Ka-Bar "Marine combat knife" was never used by the US Marine Corps. I am both an aspiring Marine and knife enthusiast.
@TheUSMC2017 On December 9, 1942, after the start of World War II, KA-BAR submitted a fighting knife to the United States Marine Corps in hopes that it would become general issue to that branch of the military. Working in conjunction with the Marine Quartermaster Department a design was devised and soon production was under way on a new and improved combat knife for Marines.Go to KABARs site for the rest of the FACTS before writing stupid shit about things you know nothing about
@Epinephrine818 First off all, no need to be an asshole. Second of all, this isn't the design that was used by the US Marines. The one that was used was made of 1095 carbon, and did not have the kydex sheath. The handle was made of hardwood (Like it shows on Kabar.com) and the sheath was made of nylon or leather.
Dont be dicks. This is a great review thanks for explaining my new knife. Your the only video to warn about water, thanks again for that, I had no idea
nutnfancy love ur channel. i am going to be getting a new knife to call my own. I am 15 and this is new to me(that is getting a knife to call my own) and its going to be a ka-bar gotta love it
Nutn, gotta love the Ka-Bar USMC. I know you don't watch other vids, but I know Miss Veri does. Love your vids. Everytime I see one of these it always reminds me of: "Grease gun Ka-Bar by myside, these are the tools that'll make men die". Ran in cadence to that many, many times. Thank you sir.
I love my Ka-bar...However the newer sheaths are nice...Mine is splitting on me...On the side of the sheath where the two pieces meet just split in some areas...I'll probably do something more about it later...For now I just have the sheath wrapped up in a bit of electrical tape.
Why does that kabar have a strap on the sheath the way the edge points? In my experience those straps usually end up getting cut after drawing the knife. Now, the cold steel trailmaster has the strap on the spine side of the sheath, much smarter.
@darknuke96 I'm always finding myself being limited by the serrations on a knife. In my opinion, they are useless. serrations belong on a saw, not on a knife. There is nothing a sharp straight edge knife cant do, that a serrated knife can, but with serrations you are loosing realestate on your cutting edge. Not to mention they are hard to sharpen.
@darknuke96 The sharpest part on a knife is right infront of the handguard, this is supposed to be razor sharp. You should be able to shave hair with one pass. If you dont have time to sharpen your knife for whatever reason, that will still be sharp, to cut things in a hurry. With serrations, you do not have this feature.
@Southern661 I disagree with you. You do need need serrated blades, especially for rope. A straight edge will cut a rope, but it takes a lot more work. Serrated edges are more efficient with certain jobs.
@clustergarde dude grow up come on that was 35+ years ago, gooks are known as vietnamese people now so cut the shit with your goddam blatant racism it's not cool anymore
I have one of the 1095 carbon steel USMC combat knives by Ka Bar. Hardwood handle and carbon steel butt cap. I would trust it with my life.
By the way, the Marines' Ka Bar is being phased out. They now use the Ontario Knife Company's OKC3S. It's 13 inches long overall and can pierce body armor, due to it being double sided. It would run you about $100. A bit too much for me.
Well having a fascination for upper end blades isn't in itself a bad thing but as you've said frequently "getting a lot of knife for the money" is in itself good. haha I'm learnding!
I hate sheaths like that. There is NO reason for the strap to be that high up. It serves no purpose being that high. Hung up-side-down, or slipping from it's sheath the knife has all that travel before the strap stops it at the tang. If the strap was already AT the tang, the knife would not have to rely on being tight in its sheath for support, and it can safely be supported up-side-down.
Less talk more knives!!!! Damn it.

Reason for loosing upper part of guard it is not really required & allows you to work thumb over the blade for greater pressure
Plus choke hold the knife one or two fingers forward of the guard thumb above for finer blade control on small jobs.
440 Stainless is very hard to sharpen so is 420, 430 is softer AUS 8 stainless would make it a great blade.

A strap that high on any knife is stupid.
