Its awesome how such a small camera gives such a filmic look. I have a DVX which I love but the FX 1, whilst I've never used itm gives a such a great film look, its lovely.

What aspect ratio is this video in? And What is cineframe?

It's a great prosumer camera IMO. Ive shoot tons of weddings with this camera. And with a little effects added in post you can sort of give it that "movie" cinematic look and feel.

@yousygirl It's hard to recommend it the fx1 with the new generation of cameras coming out nowadays. I am all about the Canon 5D mark II SLR these days. But it's still a nice camcorder if you can get a great deal on it used.

@untamedc Canons have aliasing problems. Go over to vimeo and see just type canon aliasing. If you want a DSLR for filming Panasonic GH-1. No camera is 100% perfect.

fx-1 has dominated the last 5 years since it was released. The three CCD image sensors in the FX-1 blows away the 1000u's one CMOS sensor

Definilly you`re feeling like you `re waching the movie in the begginig of the vid THE VILLAGE. I hope you can post it in HD just to see the diferences.Any way this isawesome. I have the same camcorder and still today with newones, fx1 is unbeatable in sharpenes and in low light. I recomed to anybody, price is better now.

nice clip you got here, a bit advise, use tripod when filming..it make you look a bit more pro. with plus and minus, i would still go with Canon XL-1 though. its budgie and comes with longer focal length. nice job btw

You can pick one up for around two grand now. To make it look like true film, use the FX1 with the LETUS Extreme DOF adapter. Also, this camera is great in low light, but has terrible Mic inputs. You can get around that by using the TASCAM HD-P2 Field recorder for around $900. It captures true HD Sound. We're using this equipment, and 3 FX1's to shoot our first Zombie Epic, The Z Memoirs.

I buoght my FX-1 in 2005 after three years is still one of the best cam only the z1 is superior with two or three upgrade,but both cams are equal in images quality and shootin in low light the two cams got no rivals, so FX-1 with 3CCD is way better than FX7 with cmos censor.

No special lens - I wanted to see how "soft" I could get this camera to look. I used cineframe 24, turned down sharpness all the way down and put SS at 60. I was fortunate to get a nice, foggy day and used a lot of color correction
