not just that the show was held at versailles and they were also planning to have kate moss walk the runway but because she split from pete ( waste of space ) doherty she didnt ,
can you imagine how much those dresses cost aswell ?
her pulling out was last minute so they probably made it already , its all pete doherty fault because it was when they split up , it would of been amazing seeing her on the catwalk in years
yeah. would have been great to see her walk the runway again after sometime. but whats done is done. lets just hope that when john wants to use the supermodel powerhouses again and get them all together in one show lets hope shed be there.
i dont think girls like gisele, naomi, linda and some other high profiled name girls where just paid with shoes or a couple of thousands. i bet they cost a lot more. hahaha. shame kate moss wasnt there.
Haute couture is the epitome of fashion design. At the moment, fewer than a dozen designers are legally allowed to call their designs couture designs. Oh, and by the way, Juicy Couture is NOT couture.
Haute Couture is an exclusive club even among the rich, rich. After each collection is revealed, designs are made-to-order to exclusive, private clientele. And not every designer could carry the name Haute Couture. It's a legally protected name. Like Champagne.
ok.. the girl at 1:06 is FIERCE!! She works that outfit sooo well. Yeah, I agree, I was disappointed at the dress Naomi and Giselle won.. but I dont like them so it's ok! Is it me or did Linda Evangelista look SOOOO good in that dress.. actually all together she looked fierece!!
I hate to post a negative comment but is it just me or does naomi campbell seem bored? especially at 5:57. I was disapointed why isn't she workin it like the other fierce models are? The clothes are so beautiful!
Thanks for all of the information Sethivarova. And for the wonderful videos you've posted. She's a tall gal isn't she. I like the moment when Linda and Caroline pass on the catwalk. She flicks her head to the side.
I'm sort of favoring Inguna and Lindsay Ellingson these days. Sort of have gotten back into the model worship after 15 years or so. What do you know about Ksenia Kahnovich? from IMG? She's a stunner

Of course it is! What you need is just to be rich a very big mansion with double doors to get through without touching the frames and furniture with your gown.
Servants always available and of course a fleet of personal maids to dress and undress you just in the old days.
good point, may people think this is not wearable because the make up, the hair, and thinks like jeawlery and that.. make the dresses kind of unwearable, but all this is so beautiful, ART!!
if galliano can make exquisite pieces of dresses like these then making wearable clothing is easier than 1 2 3 for him... wearable clothing is not that much of a challenge to create, haute couture is. it takes a very brilliant mind to come up with such breathtaking masterpieces...
Does anyone know if the red-head at 2:22 is Barbara Meir from Germany's Next Top Model? They look awfully similar. And let me say, this a beautiful Haute Couture show.
car2004 you know nothing about what couture is and this show was represent a diffrent artist like picasso he was just giving a memorial to each artist . and the weathy collect and wear just like my mother owns a few gowns by him and would buy many more just because of the name
haute couture is an art form..its simply gorgeous and would only be appreciated by those who understands fashion. ok. maybe this collection isnt all that very unique..it has been done before by him in his previous couture collections..its his style isn't it..well couturier should not be compared to one another..its an art exclusive to one's own..anyway these clothes are unwearable..but its the nature of haute couture isnt it..its just a gorgeous pretty thing u wear an be APPRECIATED
I stand corrected car2004. It appears you are not very bright. Couture, as well as being for the super wealthy, is extremely conceptual and is thus for the super smart. You appear, by your own admission, not to be either. That's all.
haha. Okay:) Sure. I don't know what you just put. I can't read incomplete sentences, plus what have you stood corrected for? Opinions? "Couture is conceptual and for the super smart"...bravo lol. My own admission? What that I know how to write a sentence and use words correctly? I would give you my name so you can look for my book, but I won't do that;)
I don't think anyone who doesn't understand fashion is allowed to post on this website. Couture is an art for the extremely wealthy. The clothes are meant to be magical, exquisite, unreachable, unattainable - certainly not for anyone who wants to make them accessible to the masses i.e. wearable. That word means nothing in haute couteur. In the context of haute couture, it is a vile word... perhaps as vile as beertje7787.
And it is not creative, it's been done before. I have studied fashion without majoring it in like some loon that doesn't know how to spell or complete a coherent sentence. The very rich wouldn't even wear this stuff and I know, some of my friends are extremely wealthy and think that stuff is crap for a better word.
I'm not stating anything about the fact that Couture is should be more towards the mass. I am simply stating that "IT'S NOT WEARABLE". There is a complete difference from making clothes for the super wealthy and making clothes that no one in their right mind would wear. In juxtapose to Versace couture...pfft is all I have to say.
hellooo, what he does is new! if u look at how the dresses are made, how thay are cut, how the fabric falls and how the lines of the dress are, u see that hes a genious! It takes skills to make that, and Versace, Valentino and J.P. Gaultier can't do the stuff Galliano makes! And the couture collection is not wearable because it is experimental fashion, with Galliano it's not for people to wear. Its to be innovative. The ready to wear line is wearable.
Haute couture is not for mass wearable production. To be truly defined as "haute couture" it must be hand crafted in France. The only people that can actually afford to buy or wear these clothes are the ULTRA wealthy. Even most of the dresses you see stars wearing on the red carpet are just on loan....like a walking billboard for their work.
Did you notice how girls like Naomi, Linda, Karen, Shalom, Giselle and Amber are seated at one area. All together at one place? They have seperated the Supermodels from the IT and Up coming girls!
OK, Dior don't sell the whole collection, some pieces of this collection maybe r not wearable, the same with other couture collections, but it doesn't mean that other couture houses r better, even dior is not better than the other ones, that never was the point.
Haute couture came fron France, that's not new...Dior is my favorite, the other couture houses not only the french one do a fabulous work but is not fair that u call John's work stuff, JP Gaultier, Chanel do more wearable couture collections, but for a dreamer John's work is about DREAM.
I don't quite understand anything you just put. Hes couture lines are nothing new. They have been done before. What dreaming are you talking about? Everyone dreams. And yes dreams cost money when they are million dollar shows.
ha better than karl lagerfled...i bet coco chanel was trying to kill him, cuz it was dior's line and nothin new! if you're not a blind, look at those beautiful, creative, colorful dresses
I'm sorry but no one wears this stuff. It's nice and it's interesting, but realistically no one wears this stuff. It doesn't sell. Even to the very wealthy, and I would concur with them. It's not worth the money. Why would anyone spend 200-300,000 on a dress that look too much like the time he got inspiration from? When you buy those wallets that cost 300 and up, those purses, shoes etc. you're giving money to the designer to put on these shows. I don't mind couture.
But make it wearable and realistic. Versace, Valentino, and Jean-Paul Gaultier (known as the master of couture) make realistic wearable couture. When you look at these designer's couture lines, Galliano is a joke. Don't get me wrong, I love Dior's couture shows. I have been watching them for years. I just don't think it's that great in juxtapose to the other couture designers. It just sadness me when I see people talking about how brilliant his work is. It's been done before.
It's nothing new; it's just copies of time periods. Couture does not mean copy a time period. Couture is about using priceless fabrics and innovative techniques (Jean-Paul). And FYI---what is up with him posing like a model all the time? Over the years of me watching his shows...it's just getting old and silly. This is why fashion students act the way they are and don't get anywhere. They think this is how they are suppose to act.
Haute couture in ur REAL world just sell designer stuff (makeup, parfum, hand bags, shoes...) for me haute couture is magical, is pure passion, and u can see through the designer, not only John do that, ready to wear collections brings u reality, that's not bad, but I'm just a dreamer.
Who wears this stuff??? in history only royalty wear this stuff or clothes like this, in this days only wealthy people and royalty Certainly, (Lady Di wore Versace) so is not Necessary be wealthy people or be a royalty member to wear this clothes, this is not the most wearable clothes but if u have the passion and if u can FEEL IT anyone can wear this stuff.
He doesn't copy anything, he's a great designer, and he inspires by history, art, artist and by house of Dior history, he do a research in Dior files too, imagine it, design got a process u must see a lot of things looking for inspiration, maybe for u his clothes r copys, u don't see his clothes with a designer eyes, but no one need that, I'm a peruvian inner design student and he make me dream with his work, I look for my inspiration in his work, it is one of my sources.
Well, the clothes are genius and extemely creative, but who wears this stuff? Sometimes he just copies clothing from differenet periods of time (04 spring couture). Also, he really doesnt design the clothes or does he make them for that matter. I think it's really sad that versace stop doing couture shows. They were the best and the really were wearabale, which is hard to find out of the very few in the world that do couture. I beleive only 6 designers do couture.

Part of the creativity "artistry" is in the music. The music brings out the clothes. without it would be quite boring. People, like myself look to the couture shows because they have the best mix music. Versace use to have the best shows. Sadly the house of Versace quit:(
i completetly hear what you putting down, and i too have a great appreciattion for all types of music. his shows are like theatrical productions, from the sets, lighting, models/actors & yes the music (simply genius). it just seems that a good majority of the comments posted for any fashion shows are about the music, and rarely about the clothes or the collection. all i was sayin was that hardly any one mentions the artistry of mr galliano's clothes...that's all...mwah.
why do all y'all children ask about the music in the show??? glad y'all can hear, but are you blind to the phenomenol artistry of Mr. Galliano? It's all about the couture...the gowns & the girls!!!! Wake up children...HAYLO!

i hate it when people say that couture is "not wearable" or when people ask "where would you wear that?". It bgs me because
1. it's obviosly wearable if the models are wearing it
and
2. couture is art and it can be downsized and simplified for wealthy people to wear to red carpet events or blacktie parites

Don' you just wish they made CD's of all Dior's shows? It would be a great hit!
