this vid of her is made for bellydacing classes... she performs on it then gives instruction to it later on , i woudnt be looking at it as a normal performance , she can do way better then this its just an instructional vid ;)
I don't get it. Tanyeli is clearly an excellent dancer, but Rachel Brice and Zoe Jakes are both far more skilled, original, and controlled. Why is Tanyeli so celebrated? Is it just her looks?
Zoe Jakes and Rachel Brice are Tribal Fusionists...not oriental dancers. They come from an oriental dance background but after years of ATS which has evolved into Tribal Fusion with a touch of popping and locking and burlesque, they are no longer oriental dancer. They're totally different...you can't compare the two to Tanyeli who's a classical Turkish oriental dancer. That's like saying oranges are better than apples.
@midnightpandora I disagree. I don't see anything in this video that I don't see executed just as skillfully at any YMCA "intro to bellydancing" night class. Why is Tanyeli famous?

She's a gorgeously beautiful, intelligent, classy lady who seems really sweet too. I observed this in her dance-instructing video--she was very personable, warm, and humorous, down- earth w/ her students .
Her graceful, fluid dance style is very unique-- look it up. With her eyes, face + bod too, she's my #1 bellydancer, no doubt.
