  • Thank u SO MUCH!! ur the best!! :D

  • Jesus... what a fuckin' HACK!!

This is about THE dumbest possible idea for editing to the beat that I have ever seen! A SLUG??? Hacking up your timeline??!! LOL!!

You simply MARK the timeline to the beat, use CTRL-A (for "Mark to Marker"), *F10* for an OVERWRITE...

CTRL-A, open next clip, F10, CTRL-A, open next clip, F10, CTRL-A, open next clip, F10, CTRL-A, open next clip, F10 etc. etc. etc.... DONE. NOTHING MORE.

Please STOP the bullshit tutorials!! Learn the stuff first YOURSELF!

  • Is there any way to get Final Cut Pro working on my Windows7 pc ?

  • sick ma thx u helped!

  • Just Great, Thanks alot....................

  • That was fantastic thanks. I have to cut about 20 short montages tomorrow and now I will do it in a quarter of the time. BTW I think the waveform just slows things up. Better to do it by ear like you do. Thanks again.

  • Wont work for me. Says I have to link them together. How?????????

  • how did u render the music

  • i'm trying to cut a dancing scene..but i want it to be like over lapping cuts and with glows..and fades..how do you do that?

  • so express doesn't have the replace button?

  • Was wondering what the F9.10,11 keys are for. (add edit?)

  • I tried this with videoclips, but it doesent work :(

  • Cool! I can sure use this.

  • Oh man, this is going to save me so much time. Thanks!

  • If only I knew this a couple years ago. As always, you have excellent tips for FCP and Motion and this was really helpful. I will be using this real soon.

  • Nice. Works fine in FCE4 although you can't remap the key. Still, it's just Ctrl-V and you're away. You can easily replace the slug (or whatever you have) with video and only need to set an IN point on the incoming video. The OUT point is automatically made. Disconnect audio so it doesn't get overwritten. If you use Fit To Fill, FC will speed up or slow down the incoming footage to fit.

    Keep up the great work.

  • Really well presented tutorial, top class.

  • very nice

  • where you found the image you show for the desktop? r fantastic...

  • I am worried about Apple leaning away from professional version of Final Cut Studio in the next version...I have been reading rumors about that....(shivering)

  • A good job overall.

There is another way around the insufficient content that I saw used in a different tutorial where they used an option that I think was called stretch to fill which takes the short amount of selected video and slows it down to fit the needed length.

So if it was 5 secs that needed to be slotted into 10 it would slow that video down to about 50% to make the required 10 if it was 2.5 it would slowed to you guessed it 25%.

  • thx so much for your videos. they've been helping me so much with my editing

  • Nice 2 c a new tute. It did seem like awhile. I always look 4ward 2 c-ing ur latest tute. I know u like ur 'Modo' but I was wondering if u could do another 'Houdini'?

  • Great job. I am just starting FCP7 myself and this is a lot of help. Thanks for doing what you do....

  • AppleShakeGuru I love all your videos and I must admit this was the most helpful video you have made!

  • Wow!!! Fantastic!

I could use this a lot... thank you Eric...

  • very nice. Thanx a lot!

  • Good stuff man!

  • VERY GOOD TUTORIAL

  • great tutorial!!! I am editing a music video I shot, can I edit the clips as I go along, using your technique?

  • Very good tutorial...thank you.

  • Will this work in FCP 6? thank for a wonder tutorial

  • awesome!!!! thanks! great to have you back on these again

  • how did you select just the audio?

  • @NakedJKid hold the option key and select it.

  • @AppleShakeGuru thanks

  • @NakedJKid He said he pulled it out of his browser in 'Soundtrack Pro'.

  • great tutorial thank you

  • Awesome, however i would recommend showing the waveform in the timeline

  • @danonabouncycastle thats up to you. I didnt need the wave form because i was doing it by ear. Lots of people use the waveform but i just keep it off for tutorials lots of time to save on system resources.

  • this is a brilliant technique. Thank you so much, I will definitely be using this a lot.

  • cool!

    thanks for showing!

  • You're a genius! Just when I've been given a job to edit a whole lot of photos to music. Thanks so much!

  • Great tutorial. This will save me such much time.

  • This was an awesome method especially for video trailers or intros for Youtube when you want a quick production time, thanks man!

  • you should come down to NYC and teach the fools at Apple store.

    Good Job APG!
