Just gone back to my teenage years in Rochdale! Formative years. Thank you you tube. Surfing all the old roots tunes and loving it. Music of a generation and mindset.
Of course thats the Amazing talented Ronnie Mc Queen "Stepper" He lives in LA now.. we work with him sometimes hes an amazing freind and wonderful man.. still playing bass and making evryone happy! email me with any special messages i will reply .. hes really a work of art ..
My misses lived, went to primary and secondry school in Handsworth when these were just starting out.. I recently showed her this video as she remembers the band.. From 0.00 till 0.18 she was laughing and pointing to the guy in the white cap, black jumper and white shoes.."That's Ronnie, he was in my class...He was lovely.." We are in our late 40's,early 50's so prob a bit older than some of you young'uns but we were there at the start..Can anyones 'Grand-Dad" confirm that it is 'Ronnie"
walkin along juss kicking stones, minding my own buzzinez, i came face to face with my foe, disguised in violence from head to toe .....I hola and I ball, dem na let me go, to let me go is not there intention...i nigger the less, the better, for sure, stand ur black skin an take ur blows... i holla and i ball, i say Urgh, uh isay uh, KKK...rrrrrrr...(hit that bass n guitar, man).....nah let me go now......oh no ho no ho no....steele pulse.
@TheMordius Greeting..i dont think authentic music is getting fewer. there are bands like Raging Fyah, Pentateuch, Roots Uprising and others from Jamaica. If ur really into roots music, u should check them out. I definitely feel a change coming on. Reggae music just doesnt come with hype so u wont hear about it getting alot of recognition like pop music. many forces r trying to hide the message thats coming from this music. BLess UP
This is one of many great live recordings from the movie Reggae In a Babylon. Check it out for performances by other incredible reggae artists from Britain.
@09neuro haha true that. i went to jamaica once and when i came back to america, i could feel the negative energy in the air compared to jamaica. everyone there is just waiting for us to come there so they can show us how to live righteously. they defenitely taught me. jamaica reminds me of Zion
Speaking as a white, middle aged, employed, reasonably well educated, never been in trouble with the law (well not much anyway!!) old fart.....I love this band....lent a mate "Handsworth Revloution" album about twenty years ago...never saw it again!!!
Steel Pulse, they steel made up of some mighty Steel, I say, steel true to their humble beginnings and the muzik they beena making all these years, steel positive, most inspiring muzik!!! From dreadless to....them mighty big, Bongo Dreads, of today! Love umm!! Big up to ya Steel Pulse, til this day and ever!! Much respect to ya!! Appreciate the one person who caught ya on the video!!! Timeless, looking back like seein to ya future!! AUSTIN, TX love ya! Blessed love thru Jah to Steel Pulse!
@nigerbify Just a Play on the word "Steel"...I love the band and have met them....yet I never loaned any of my albums! You have to be real deep to understand me but it's ALL good!
I have so many fond memories of Steel Pulse. When ever I'd had a bad day I could throw on some Pulse tunes and all my problems faded. At least for a while :)
when i was 12 , i did listen to steel pulse , these guys are amazing , real future reggae as black uhuru with their techno reggae , bob marley did like the steel pulse music as he sad on his babylon tour , he was listening to steel pulse. As we known we love their all, and also Israel Vibration . I still go back and listen to these great songs (inmortal reggae songs)
i seen them in 78 on the same stage as the clash. and they was memorising. had me in a trance for the full set. .i'm glad they still playing and sharing that tallent. .
This is great. thier mother's basement is where they started it all i read, and this is looking like that. Does anyone know where these videos are off of. there are a few of these "basement sessions" from '78 on youtube.
