mbv recorded bass and vocals without compression. this means that they will pick up and drop out of the mix noticeably (and intentionally); this is most notable with the bass here. it will have more presence depending on which string is play, and what note in particular on a given string. this technique lends itself very well to kevin & bilinda's vocal delivery.

I see what you mean - the other 3 unreleased songs sound like they belong to isn't anything or to the glider ep whereas kevin's song does sound closer to loveless. I met kevin in 2000 after a primal scream gig and chatted for 30 minutes - top bloke.

I dunno; this is cool, but it seems more like an imitation/pastiche/MBV-influen­ced band than the real thing. This sounds like a vintage Swirlies song built around drum tracks from "I Only Said".

Yeah I was just thinking this reminded me of Swirlies. Kinda funny that this was an unreleased song MBV did years before Swirlies' first album, which pretty much sounds like this. I love both though
