Back in high school (in America) a girl once told me she wanted to learn French so she could go to England. She is now attending a university... this is common. In a similar instance one of my friends who lived his whole life in a town bordering another state. One day we cross the bridge to the other state and he notices the sign that says welcome etc and he expressed great surprise that we were in a different state.

Whilst any reasonable person will see that Grasse is not a historian but an attention seeker pushing his anti-British agenda, it is unfair to tar all Americans with the same brush.

I would be more concerned about Steven Grasse if he was a serious historian. He isn't. He talks about the British 'being rude about this young man who has come to represent the US'- well it could be argued that not even knowing the capital of a country one is visiting- and a world-renowned capital with 8 million people is where the real rudeness lies.
Using the race card is absurd give the record of the United States in race relations which was decades behind the UK (Such as in the cont....)

We didn't even start slavery. We just used it for a while then abolished it as we saw it was wrong. Thousands of years it had been going on and we stopped it. Also I know most of the Capital cities of the world, to name a few, Washington DC,Paris,Madrid,Berlin. And i'm 14. I know Florida,Texas,Hawaii and many other states in his country. Steven's right. You all should be a little nicer. Poor guy, just because he doesn't know where London is, doesn't mean you should crucify him. We wouldn't get mad if you didn't know where Detroit or Phoenix was. Its not a a lotto ask. Like its not a lot for you to ask us to apologize for Iraq, which we do.
