It's a pretty nice list, but I personally think that it's a crime not to have The Lord of the Rings on it. That was an absolutely brilliant score by the ever amazing Howard Shore. :)
I was not even aware of the score; I only find out by either knowing of the composers or seeing the films, and neither of those is true for that series.
You've got some great picks here! Some odd choices as well, but, it's purely opinion :) I might have figured a couple more Alan Silvestri pieces that have gone relatively unnoticed like the themes from both 'Contact' and 'Cast Away'?
Three pieces from 'Pirates...' seems a little much...
I ran out of space in this video; I was limited to 11 minutes. Now that I have unlimited upload times, I may well make a video some 25 minutes long with everything.
But the reason I have three Pirates scores is because there are three films and two composers, so one is insufficient.
@1RadicalOne I have it on my system too, and yes it took me just as long :p i sometime search for a film theme for years, i think the longest was a Back to the Future 3 track that wasn't released with the soundtrack. took me 4 years :) Glad someone else puts effort into finding good music too.
Sometimes I have no trouble finding a score...and then I find the publishers got the idea of charging $400 for a disc. That happened with Twister and Transformers.
Interesting choices, Radical One; I like most of them. You say you ran out of time, though; why not make two videos then, each six or seven minutes long, instead of one long one? (Unless your name reveals an aversion to duality?)
PS: "Poseidon" is out of order, and "Backdraft" also probably comes after "Back to the Future" (space trumps "d"). The sorting of "Last Samurai" seems deliberate, though I disagree with it.
That is a good idea. I do have a fifteen-minute compilation of the "full" list; I could easily split it.
And yes, I did make many errors in ordering, including Poseidon and Last Samurai. And Back To The Future and Backdraft as well, now that I know the "hierarchy" of a space.
PS
My callsign is in fact the name of a vehicle from a game I used to modify; How I ended up with it is a mystery to even myself. :)
Well, the space thing is by no means universal (though the system I mentioned does seem more common than the rest). Regarding your name, one might read it as "A Radical One" if it makes more sense, given that "a" means "one" (or "1"). I'm not sure it does make more sense.
Had I had more time, I would have included those and Avatar (Horner), Speed (Mancina), Gone in 60 Seconds (Rabin), Angels and Demons (Zimmer), 10000BC (Kloser), Dark Night (Zimmer), Eagle Eye (Tyler), Robocop (Poledouris), The Island (Jablonsky), and World Trade Center (Armstrong).
Ah, no Thomas Newman! To each his or her own, I suppose. Nice collection nonetheless, I can tell you're a huge fan of Hans Zimmer and his ilk; there are many imposing, majestic scores listed here.
Nice collection. The only thing I might have done differently is move the first one to the end, even though it breaks the alphabetical order; it's just one of those pieces that's just a really good piece for a finale to a collection like this.

@1RadicalOne All three films have a wonderful soundtrack. I think you should definitely watch them. :)

Good list overall but you left out Last of the Mohicans which was one of the best ever imo.

The "1" at the beginning of my name is simply a variant character; "RadicalOne", my 'real' callsign, was taken.

Great video! It's like you were reading my mind as you made this. Only two big ommissons, the Star Trek theme and the Superman theme.
matt72986 1 year ago
I have never heard the Star Trek theme, and while I have the Superman theme, it did not make my top 43. ;)

True, but shredding the alphabetization would make my arrangement seem a bit arbitrary, and thus undesirable.
