Been driving Chevy trucks since I was 14. All but one were plow trucks as well. Damn good truck! I also just got a 2011 Silverado 2500HD and so far seems pretty good. The person who wrote that it is quite & comfortable not like a real truck... Sorry but just because it's not sitting on milk crates & held together by baling wire doesn't reduce it's guts. Like I said Damn good trucks!
Yes they did skip some trucks, and their 3d work wasn't of the best quality work either. But the point being here is that Chevrolet make a damned good truck at least they did, never have i seen 80's ford 1/2 with 400k+ pull 6500lbs on the rear bumper at 60 mph, like my 80 did back in o4.
The name "Silverado" didn't appear on Chevy's trucks until 75. And yeah... they skipped the 88-98 years. Those are my favorite. My first car was a 91, and my current truck is a 94 Z71. "Like a Rock!"

The current GM HD trucks are better than ever but i wouldn't spend $50-75 K for a diesel truck. no matter who builds it. too much to go wrong, so ill take and old 12 valve cummins with a P7100. slide the fuel plate and make 90HP for free. cant do that with a duraturd or powerstroke or 99 or newer cummins

anyone find it funny?? th1999-2006 trucks are the same size as the 2007-current trucks. If you look at the specs closely the only thing that changed was the width. The wheelbase is the exactly the same for all trucks frome 1999 to current. HMMMM?!?!?!? I wonder did the Garbage Man redesign the junk truck or just make it uglier and chunkier than before??? In case it wouldn't register through that thick skull of yours, car companies base their next generation on the same platform as the previous generation! Check out the 100 and 200 series toyota land cruisers, they BOTH have the EXACT same wheelbase as well (2850 mm). Does that suggest they are the same truck? No.

As for the GMT 800 and 900 trucks ARE the same!! the suspensions are rated the same,most of the parts are interchangeable. its is the same for the Ram from 2001- 2008. and the 1980-1996 F series. I guess if you can't read simple information. that is all over the internet and in GM brochures(Wheelbase, Track, Overall Length, Width, Height) that Make you the STUPID ONE....

Because people couldn't put a real snowplow on the front of their trucks. because front suspensions were weak. they got tired of failed part complaints and lost sales. BUT GM MAKES A BETTER TRUCK? Laugh and a half. My 1994 f150 and out hauls my dad's 2003 silverado and i get better MPG than him as well.
@roberth214 There are only two things the GM trucks have over the Fords and Dodges. 1 The GM trucks are smaller and lighter(MPG). and they are more comfy(lower spring rate = better ride but less payload). If you look at the numbers. my 1994 is still better. My trucks GVWR is 6950lbs and the truck weights 4685lbs. My payloads is 2265 lbs . My dads truck GVWR is 7150 his truck weighs 5351lbs his payload is 1799lbs. I can go farther into this if you would like me to?

@acres90 Side saddle tank safety was a conspiracy for news ratings, and the 5.7 Olds was offering only for two years. Replaced by the 6.2 in '81.
Also, I'd rather have the tank under the truck, then riding shotgun in the cab...

I've owned 7 K-5 blaziers all form 85-89's.. 2 Chevy Cavaliers 86 82.. 82 was the best chevy I have every owned.. Then a 2001 Chevy Malibu that almost killed me.. What more??
