I would also point out that yes, science doesn't know the exact mechanism behind the Big Bang but that certainly doesn't mean its only possible explanation is a creator. A few hundred years ago science didn't know about long distance communication via radio waves - was the only possible mechanism for such a phenomenon magic?
To answer your question, I would also say that yes the Big Bang is, to the best of our current knowledge, a fact. All the evidence we have collected so far points towards the universe originating from single point. I doubt you'd dispute this either. I think instead you meant 'explain why you think the Big Bang was caused by mechanism x' - to that I would simply say to you, justify the statement mechanism x = God.

However for the most part the general public doesn't even know enough science to realise precisely how little science it actually knows.
Currently science can’t answer the question ‘what caused the Big Bang?’ It is, however, working on it and does have a few ideas – I would like to think that we will come to the answer ‘God did it’ only once we have exhausted all other possibilities. That I think should be the general approach to any matter of science – maybe God did it, but let’s have a proper check for other explanations first.
Finally the Big Bang could (I stress, COULD) have resulted from a spontaneous phase transition (like superconductivity, for example) which could have occurred completely on its own.

Before the Big Bang isn't a meaningful concept from within our universe, as time started at the Big Bang. The normal rules of causality break down - human reasoning (which is inherently bound by the idea of time) just doesn't cut it there.
However, if the universe is embedded in some kind of superstructure (the multiverse?) posessing its own time then causality can be reinstated. What we think of as creation from nothing could simply be a normal event in another universe.
I read an interesting theory along those lines recently about how our universe could be within a black hole in another universe.
My point is really this though - 80 years ago Hubble saw the universe was expanding in all directions and was pretty much homogeneous and hence scientists logically extrapolated this back to the idea of the Big Bang. Do you not think their next question was 'how did that happen?' Science has moved on from 'the universe began from nothing.'

I therefore don't consider myself to be in a position to accept or reject any of them, or their predictions. Evolution HAS been proven and is the only logical explanation for what we observe both past and present. I would also point out that yes, science doesn't know the exact mechanism behind the Big Bang but that certainly doesn't mean its only possible explanation is a creator. A few hundred years ago science didn't know about long distance communication via radio waves - was the only possible mechanism for such a phenomenon magic?

All the evidence we have collected so far points towards the universe originating from single point. I doubt you'd dispute this either. Currently science can’t answer the question ‘what caused the Big Bang?’ It is, however, working on it and does have a few ideas – I would like to think that we will come to the answer ‘God did it’ only once we have exhausted all other possibilities. That I think should be the general approach to any matter of science – maybe God did it, but let’s have a proper check for other explanations first.

Before the Big Bang isn't a meaningful concept from within our universe, as time started at the Big Bang. The normal rules of causality break down - human reasoning (which is inherently bound by the idea of time) just doesn't cut it there.
However, if the universe is embedded in some kind of superstructure (the multiverse?) posessing its own time then causality can be reinstated. What we think of as creation from nothing could simply be a normal event in another universe.

I read an interesting theory along those lines recently about how our universe could be within a black hole in another universe.
My point is really this though - 80 years ago Hubble saw the universe was expanding in all directions and was pretty much homogeneous and hence scientists logically extrapolated this back to the idea of the Big Bang. Do you not think their next question was 'how did that happen?' Science has moved on from 'the universe began from nothing.'

wow if god exists, demons exist and demons dont exist so god doesnt exist. Why do good people die if "God" exists. If Jesus came down from heaven 2000 years ago, why hasnt he come back now. Im a Catholic soi kinda have to believe but thats my point of view.

Eeligion is somthing made up by the illuminati to controll the masses (and make money) not to say there is not truth in it. There is lots of truth in all religions. The reason we switched to a monotheistic god is because we are all part of the one entity, the one true conscienceness. With out the argueing between religions every one would relize who the real enemy is, our own government. Please people stop arguing and start THINKING, we are all in the same boat. @TeKnO2BaEr You cannot prove the BB but all evidence points to the BB. Nobody knows how life began but there are a number of very viable solutions. Evolution HAS been proven and is the only logical explanation for what we observe both past and present. At best using god as an explantion for any of these 3 is a pure and utter guess with absolutely nothing to support it. That is the difference between faith and fact.

@TeKnO2BaEr In a way you'r right. Despite being true beyond all reasonable doubt, evolution has to remain classed as a theory because it is falsifiable. So far in 150 years it has not been falsified unlike Creation which is continually being falsified & hence revamped. Yes we have 23 pairs of chromosones as opposed to 24 for the chimps. Chromosones are terminated by a telomer at each end. What do we find in one of our pairs? Telomers in the middle showing fusion of chromosones. Simples.

If i were you i would look up the 2nd Law & then tell me why it disproves the BB. Actually it is a bit of a change as most creationists attempt to claim that the 2nd law is in conflict with evolution. Proving that they understand neither. There is no way the 2nd law disproves BB/Evolution but i will await your answer before i tell you why.

@TeKnO2BaEr Since the common concesus is that the Laws of Physics were created at the time of or immediately after the BB, it makes nonense of your claim. Even if the 2nd Law existed prior to the BB it would not contravene it & nor would the 1st. Unless, of course, you know different & would care to explain why. Of course, magic man created something out of nothing contravenes every rule in the book but hey .... i'll save you the effort ...... "it's ok cause god can do anything". Proof please.

We may never know but it does not negate what we DO know that which has happened AFTER the BB. History is full of "Don't Knows" that were defaulted to the myth of god until naturalistic explanations replaced them. Sadly for you, the reverse has NEVER occurred.

Be honest and say "i don't know and i have no way of knowing" or you can make a wild guess and insist that it is true. That is what you are doing with your god myth. Evolution on the other hand has loads of evidence even if we don't know what caused the BB.

I mean that NO books were written about Jesus while he was alive. The 1st gospel was written decades after his death, so that must contain loads of hearsay. The gospels don't even agree with each other. Today, if someone went around walking on water, making wine from water, healing with a touch etc etc then every man and his dog would be writing stories about these events NOW and not in 30 years time.

Anhow the NT was written by people who never met or personally knew Jesus and that includes Paul. No wonder such miraculous things were attributed to him.

If you had been born in Afghanistan you would be a Muslim. I have no problem with your faith but i have a problem when it is forced into the science class or into politics. You've no proof otherwise we would be inundated with it. Personal experiences are no more proof than alien abduction experiences.

You are the one making the claims and the burden of proof is upon you to prove your claim and not on me to disprove your claim. It is impossible to disprove a negative. I repeat, god and evolution are not mutually exclusive but of course the literal genesis story and evolution ARE mutually exclusive. Where is your evidence for Genesis?

That's strange a muslim told me that the Qur'an has all the answers and evidence. The Bible is a great body of work and it may well have answers but it doesn't have many correct ones. Genesis for a start is totally disproven by modern science and even contradicts itself on a great scale. Perhaps you only cherry pick the good bits. It is all stories written by men who were superstitious (as people were bound to be in those days).

As for big bang theory it is just one of many theories being studdied. These theories are studdied in order to try to prove them wrong. "I'm not sure" is a very common way for those of us who do not believe in god(s) or goddess(es) but are also not scientists to discribe how everything came to be.
