IMHO Copyright should never be used to prevent distribution or exposure but to establish reasonable economic streams and channels of communication with the authors so royalties can be properly and easily directed and collected. Yet where there is no money being made (fan film and such) no royalties are required. Or something along these lines...
Also any work in the public domain should not be able to be copyrighted by wrapping it in a copyrighted work or simply another form. That portion of the work should remain public domain.
So CSPANs broadcast of the public domain senate speeches would stay public and not become the property of CSPAN.
Yea, but copyright is of deep concern to the youtube community. Particularly in relation to fan films and videos. I am surprised that more people didn't ask about copyright.
