(like tony hawk pro skater 1-4, tony hawks proving ground, tony hawk project 8, tony hawk underground 1-2, etc.) and those games ar made by Activision. skate is EA Skate, therefore different companies. they are the only 2 skateboarding franchises on the market right now, so seeing as tony hawk has his own skate games, EA Skate and the Tony Hawk series are huge rivals

The EA Skate series far supasses the Tony Hawk games in realism and being able to relate to the average skater. Granted yes Tony Hawk did create a big boom in the skateboarding industry with his THPS games, but EA took it a step further and brought realism. Skate 3's hardcore mode I absolutely love as well, taking it a step further to make the game as real as possible.
