  • abcohende,

Netflix don't make those DVDs. Only movie companies produce those DVDs. Netflix just rent them out to subscribers.

I am a member of Netflix since Sept. 2000. About 90% of DVDs that I had rented were CC or Subtitled.

If you use the HDMI cable from DVD player to your TV, The TV will NOT show CC. I used the RCA type cable. It will show CC.

Otherwise, that is true that live stream don't have any CC, just subtitle. Yes, I'm disappointed in live stream.

  • hey... you should notice to netflex website then noticed bottom say stated subtitles and captions. then click it and choice different movies caption closed...

it work captions movies. pls let me know, if u find it... Good Luck

  • I never rent this Netflix. I heard about this problem. I am not crazy about rent DVD.

    Thanks for let us know.

  • I'm curious, does Blockbuster and RedBox have smiliar problems in getting films and shows captioned since they compete with Netflix for DVD rental business? Cost probhibitve for them to caption? ADA does not have text in the body that require those companies to caption nor does NCI have any sort of business interactions with them. So I wonder.

  • u are awesome!

  • It so good to see you back!!

  • Shame on Netflix - I'm never a member so that means I can sue in order to help you people, is it possible?

  • @ASLeslie I forgot to add one thing - why don't we share this with our hearing family members? Tell them not to subscribe NETFLIX...It can be done, isn't it?

  • Yea my husband used this netiflx for short like a month , found no CC then forgot and closed his acct while ago.... it s very disappointing how they treat us like if we aren't existed on the earth....no more subscribing... i suggest you to make a report spreading the news like google, yahoo to make sure people hear your voice!

  • I am still a member of Netflix (as of right now -- that may change), and also requested previously to join the class action suit. I am not a lawyer, but I don't think my rights to participate in the class action suit can be abrogated retroactively. Would you know if that's correct?

  • @DrDonGCSUS I really don't know. I saw the revision of the clause as I copied/pasted on my blog. It appears to me that anyone who uses Netflix agree not file any lawsuit at any court. Just through the arbitrator.

  • netflix.. In usa, maybe 20% of movies are subtitled, but not perfectly synced, really bad. In canada.. where im from, 20% of movies are subtitled in usa, right, now some studio is not associated with canada broadcast/CRTC, so it drops from 20% movies to 5% movies in canada with subtitles. which sucks big time. You are right about they ignore deaf's right and needs. unfortunately their service makes thousands video rental services in canada closed/bankrupt. we are in disc-free era.. not cool.

  • Very interesting to see your video recently, I just got a letter from Netflix that offer one month trial free before subscribe, but I did not . I just heard that Netflix does not have captions or so little. What a big turn off from Netflix.

  • Again? Netflix never show any respect toward Deaf Community. I canceled Netflix two or three months ago because of that reason. I've had enough of their run around and crap. Netflix still discriminates Deaf Community though.

Let's see how the court's outcome on the case since it's still ongoing.

Keep us posted. I'm going to share this in Facebook.
