I have lived here (in New Orleans and SE La) for 54 years. My family has lived here for over a hundred years. My 80 year od mother lives a block from the beach in Pass Christian, MS. Believe me, I KNOW what happened during Katrina. The government failed AND the news media failed.

Blanco & Nagan are to most to blame for anything. Everybody else did what they could and all pilots pushed them selves & equipment as far as possible. It was just too many people that did not listen and a crazy notion to keep an area 5' below sea level from flooding. It was sheer madness, but FEMA did all they ever could have and far more than the idiots on their couch bitching have any clue about. If you weren't there, you don't know shit!

You blew it with that FEMA comment. FEMA is truly a 4 letter word in coastal LA and MS. Look, I am a Republican that LIVED Katrina and the feds (exempting the military) failed every which way they could. Take off those partisan glasses you have on and listen to an eye witness. Government failed, period!
