"Passing" or "failing" a polygraph test doesn't mean anything. Polygraph test are bunk garbage witchcraft science and are NOT evidence. More of a tool to scare stupid people. It makes sense that they are marrying now considering Haleigh's bio mom, Crystal, has an attorney and it is widely believed that she will seek custody of her son - and Haleigh, if she returns.
The fact that Haleigh went missing while in the care of Ron's girlfriend(not to mention other allegations of abuse) makes him look negligent and this could really help Crystal in gaining custody of children.
So, I suspect the marriage is meant to give the illusion of stability in Ron's life.
I think you're right about the custody case having a lot to do with the marriage, & I believe it also has to do with the fact that she's under 18 & it helps the relationship seem more respectable & keeps Ron out of trouble.

People seem to have no problem with the statutory rape aspect. That speaks to his character. At the custody hearing, he told the judge that his mother and aunts would be watching the kids - a lie. Their story is so improbable, it can't be true. I have wanted to bring up another issue. Abusers look at their victims as their possessions, like property. The way Ron says "my child" all the time reflects that attitude. Even when he was pleading for her return, he said IT's not like property.
The custody hearing was back in 2007, so we don't have any evidence that Ron's kids were not being watched by his mother & his aunts at that time. Crystal didn't refute that. I wouldn't say that people have "no problem" with the statutory rape aspect. People mention it a lot. It's a concern. One the other hand, I know a lot of women in their 80s who married at 13, 14, & 15 to men in thier 20s & say they were happily married for at least 50 years or more. It depends on culture.
I don't think this particular marriage is a good idea, but I'm explaining why their families don't seem to have much of a problem with it. It's kind of a rural southern thing.
Would I have wanted my daughter to get married at that age? No way. But people who get married in their 20s, 30s, & 40s, can't even stay married half the time, & I do know elderly women who assure me they were very happy as teen brides & their marriages did work. I know one lady who says she got so tired of her husband treating her like a child that she hit him in the head with a frying pan & he changed his ways & treated her right after that. Should we start hitting men in the head?
Their rural, southern church doesn't approve. I think it doesn't bother the families b/c it stretches their 15 minutes of fame. What Misty's mom said about why she changed her mind about the marriage made no sense no matter where you live. You didn't address the bigger problem, that you don't go getting married while your daughter is missing, and probably dead. I can't help it, I think they are despicable human beings. Oh thank you sandi1927. I also heard that if the victim is their child, they will have to testify. I have not researched into that but even if it they were true, (about still having to testify against each other because the incident was before the marriage) I would think that they could still argue that they are "husband and wife" and they will not turn their backs from each other. Maybe they think they could get contempt of court which would get them a lighter sentencing. Just some thoughts.

i think that was part of the misdirection by LE- they thought Misty may talk to Ron while they were married..when she didnt they helped him divorce her fast thinking maybe he would talk..I just realized that they had only known each other 6 months before Haliegh went missing. That makes Crystal the only valid character witness for Ron now (in my opinion).

The law only states they cant be FORCED to testify, I would have assumed Ron would have testified against her willingly..but your right it doesnt apply in anyway and wouldnt apply unless LE was convinced Ron was involved... THE MEDIA confuses things and apparently makes things up.

Right but in Florida there is an exception when a child is harmed....even if they had been married when this took place he could and would be forced ....because harm came to a child, she is missing. So, I have to wonder is LE ignorant of the law? Did the press make this up? As much as he whined/cried about his personal life being none of anyone elses business, the story was in the news and it kept the kid on people's minds. Now, you don't see too many stories on her. If my kid was missing, I would run down the street naked to do anything I could to draw attention to the case. I think one thing they don't want to happen is for anyone to forget about this little girl. Folks are forgetting.

I realize he's not getting the privacy he wants, but his child is missing & the longer she's gone, the chances of her being found get slimmer. I still feel Ron is hiding something. Still has the slight curls in it, If you cant take care of yourself, how can you take care of a child. On a side note, getting married at 17, on the missing childs birthday seems nothing more than a slap in the face that they aren't completely focused on finding the child.

It makes sense that they are marrying now considering Haleigh's bio mom, Crystal, has an attorney and it is widely believed that she will seek custody of her son - and Haleigh, if she returns.
The fact that Haleigh went missing while in the care of Ron's girlfriend(not to mention other allegations of abuse) makes him look negligent and this could really help Crystal in gaining custody of children.
So, I suspect the marriage is meant to give the illusion of stability in Ron's life.

I have had nasty comments from a couple of people pretending to not judge or give opinions. I, for one, has had a couple of abusive relationships and I almost always can tell when someone is controlling and abusive by observing how they act, speak and accuracy of their stories. I love to read and study psychology.

Yes, the ladies who have been in abusive relationships have posted that they thought he was an abuser, & I didn't mind that because that's their opinion. I hoped they were just projecting, but I knew they might be right. What I hate is when the media flat out lies on purpose for ratings & then everybody jumps on the band wagon & starts accusing the person based on a bunch of garbage they swallowed without checking the facts. I just think that's slander, & we don't need it.

People seem to have no problem with the statutory rape aspect. That speaks to his character. At the custody hearing, he told the judge that his mother and aunts would be watching the kids - a lie. Their story is so improbable, it can't be true. I have wanted to bring up another issue. Abusers look at their victims as their possessions, like property. The way Ron says "my child" all the time reflects that attitude. Even when he was pleading for her return, he said IT's not like property.

The custody hearing was back in 2007, so we don't have any evidence that Ron's kids were not being watched by his mother & his aunts at that time. Crystal didn't refute that. I wouldn't say that people have "no problem" with the statutory rape aspect. People mention it a lot. It's a concern. One the other hand, I know a lot of women in their 80s who married at 13, 14, & 15 to men in thier 20s & say they were happily married for at least 50 years or more. It depends on culture.

I don't think this particular marriage is a good idea, but I'm explaining why their families don't seem to have much of a problem with it. It's kind of a rural southern thing.

Would I have wanted my daughter to get married at that age? No way. But people who get married in their 20s, 30s, & 40s, can't even stay married half the time, & I do know elderly women who assure me they were very happy as teen brides & their marriages did work. I know one lady who says she got so tired of her husband treating her like a child that she hit him in the head with a frying pan & he changed his ways & treated her right after that. Should we start hitting men in the head?

Their rural, southern church doesn't approve. I think it doesn't bother the families b/c it stretches their 15 minutes of fame. What Misty's mom said about why she changed her mind about the marriage made no sense no matter where you live. You didn't address the bigger problem, that you don't go getting married while your daughter is missing, and probably dead. I can't help it, I think they are despicable human beings. The tent thing was a stunt. Once ousted, they run off to NYC.

I don't understand why he doesn't want to go back to his home. I mean, why not? He acts as if he's for sure that Haleigh isn't coming back or they did something despicable to Haleigh that they don't to be reminded of. And Ronald probably wants people to give him a new house since he is so grieving for his daughter's loss.

Great point, mimi2957. I have never heard him call her nicknames like princess or anything like that. And instead of saying my baby, he says my child. I don't think I would be referring to my missing baby, "my child". I am sure that he don't call her "my child" at home, why would he keep on referring to her as such? It is unnatural and sounds very much rehearsed.

Who on earth wears sunnies to their own wedding? They didnt even look at each other during the 'ceremony'.... they are oblivious to how rediculous they look!

I don't know if their other family members and relatives even have a clue that they are looking so foul to so many people. I just don't understand it. I just hope that Haleigh is not hurt and is found soon.

I agree completely. But I did hear that anything that happened BEFORE the marriage doesn't count and that one COULD testify against the other. Peinay, very good job with the comments and your terrific insight! And I think you are right on about the body language...very observant of you. Good job, and thank you for uploading.

Oh thank you sandi1927. I also heard that if the victim is their child, they will have to testify. I have not researched into that but even if it they were true, (about still having to testify against each other because the incident was before the marriage) I would think that they could still argue that they are "husband and wife" and they will not turn their backs from each other. Maybe they think they could get contempt of court which would get them a lighter sentencing. Just some thoughts.
