He's incredibly witty and poetic, and that's to be expected since his influences are Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave. 'Riot Van' is a fantastic piece of social commentary. He also adds humour to his lyrics e.g. 'His bird said it's amazing though so all that's left, is the proof that love's not only blind but deaf.'

@JackIsntBald Well I'm from the UK alright, I grew up on a council estate in Scotland, unlike the Gallaghers who grew up in a middle class house in Manchester, from a family that could afford things lie electric guitars and amps. they are playing at being working class. The education system in Scotland is well known to be superior to the English system, hence my superior command of the language. I seem posh to you, due to your bad education, but this is how people speak in the Highlands.

Even if I didn't look at them in their literal sense they're still nonsensical. Whereas Morrissey's convey meaning and emotion instead of droning on about slags in fishnets or 'tropical reef', it's utter bullshit.

@siandrhys It's easy to pick out parts of lyrics and say that they're shit, because out of context they're obviously going to be shit. Carol Ann Duffy has even praised him as a poet. He's incredibly witty and poetic, and that's to be expected since his influences are Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave. 'Riot Van' is a fantastic piece of social commentary. He also adds humour to his lyrics e.g. 'His bird said it's amazing though so all that's left, is the proof that love's not only blind but deaf.'

But for every decent verse he writes he undoes with cretinous ramblings in others. For every good verse you come up with, I could come back with a shitty one. This isn't the case with Morrissey, all of his lyrics are solid gold.

And Morrissey has some crappy lyrics. Smiths are my favorite band but a few songs are very dull lyrically. And his solo music...come on! Some great songs, but some terrible ones as well. I LOVE the Smiths, but Moz is not perfect and he'd be the first to say it.
