@dylandoolittle1 Confirmed, I like the powder keg too but this example only works if the other guy keeps his left hand down for added compliance ( in the video he has it on his thigh?).
The powder keg is from all fours so the other guy already has his left hand pre-occuppied on the deck, stopping himself from collapsing to the floor? :-)
Yeah it works if you're a little guy rolling with a little guy, but some one my size is gonna stack and slip to side control if you even think about using that on em. But it works very well for what (and who) it's intended to be used on.
This video was taken at Redboy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on Long Island New York a little while before it closed down. The guy getting triangled was nick-name Frank Shamrock because of his uncanny resemblance to the real Shamrock. Paul Rodriguez who is one of Mastor Mansors Purple/Brown belts owned the place. I heard he had a really bad drug problem, thats sucks if its true, Paul was a really nice guy.
hey mikey what was the name of the video where you showed how to get out of the triangle by clamping down on the leg with your arm then steping over his leg with yours and then sitting up to put pressure on the knee
I must apologize, I am pretty sure I sent that comment to the wrong video. It was more likely meant for the flying omoplata. This move is money and resembles the powder keg from 10th planet jui jitsu. Sorry bout the misdirected comment about the reflexes.
actually the reflexes help the attack. most people either look for the kneebar or posture and hip out. depending on their reaction I usually go for this or, swing into 50/50 for a heelhook. I wouldn't say it's high percentage by any means though.
um how about we evolve away from the competition aspect and say you try this to guy with no jiu jitsu background who uses his instincts then this move is a very low percentage cuz they will be pulling away. This could never be used in a real fight... u wud never be in that position for duck under.
If youre not interested in competition you shouldn't be looking at videos of flying submissions. Obviously this is not the best thing in self-defense, but in self-defense when you're fighting an untrained opponent you aren't going to need to use tricky competition stuff anyway... i'm not sure what kind of point you were trying to make with this reply. I'm pretty sure everyone that trains knows you shouldn't go for a flying triangle in a street fight.
no prob. I find it works especially well with this set-up because most people react to a duck-under the same way- defend the takedown/watch out for hooks - and the general pre-emptive movements they use actually make it much easier to nail the triangle.

i dont know what youre talking about Mr. Triangles the flying oma-plata with an enormous kiai sound is always my first attack in a street fight.

This is a cool set up. Usually I set it up by grabbing both sleeves and splitting the guard with my legs as I pull the sleeves out.
Still, this is a nice move, and I'll definitely give it a try.
