  • The guy in the video mentions several examples of how inefficient the current system is, but then says it's all okay because someone else is paying for it. Not true though, anyone paying taxes is paying for it.

    The US system costs more per capita because it's actually a bigger bureaucratic mess than the Canadian system is. If all they changed was making it fully covered by taxes, it would get even worse.

    The less regulated, expensive but innovative, facilities in the US are excellent though.

  • Lucky for you it was easily visible, the whole problem begins when the injury is not visible;;or should I have said unlucky for you, sorry;

    Here`s a tip, essential oils applied several times a day will speed healing, and seem to make the scar less visible;

  • @FIXWCBCANADA lucky me? you make it sound like i just happened on a healthcare experience in Canada, when have you? i thank God I am in Canada when it comes to healthcare as well as just about everyone I know, stop being stupid. I know you are not stupid. I mean just stop being,,,, I can't word it. it's FREE it's a right not a privilege why don't you get it!

  • @daveni2 ,,,,it is not free , we pay for it with our taxes; Maybe you have had good experience with our system, many others have not, as you can see, by watching the u-tube video, medical malpractice in alberta;

    maybe you will get really sick some day or suffer another injury that isn't visible, and get the proverbial run-around , then and only then will you realize how this system really functions. Canadians are ignorant and oblivious that we are being rationed and wait-listed;

  • @FIXWCBCANADA My mother had quintuple by-pass surgery 5 years ago and has been happy ever since and her lifestyle hasn't changed well with the exception of her diet. It's a privilege in the USA face it, here it is a right. I am 50 years old and have never heard real complaints in the end. And guess what? I live with in an hour of the us border so I even have access to that privilege. If you can tell me there is AFFORDABLE insurance in the states that will pay for something exploratory then....

  • @FIXWCBCANADA If it wasn't for the fact that we live next to such a big, capitalistic in every way, country. Our healthcare system would be better but it's people like you that prevent that. I would advise you to leave this country and move to the states. You are obviously rich enough to be part of the privileged. You anger me!

  • Gee, I almost passed out just hearing about this. I'd be complaining more i think.

    Ariel Rose Ugh Dave!! I am so sorry for your beat up hand, ouch! But seriously, if that happened here and you HAVE insurance, you'd still be looking at a few hundred bucks in co-pays, etc...and if you didn't have insurance...well you'd either have a thousands of dollars bill, or you'd just be out a functional hand :(

  • Sorry about your injury. That must be very painful. But you can't beat the health care that is available here in Canada. If you have bones split and blood flowing you'll be taken care of as quickly as possible. And you'll be looked after until you have fully recovered. That injury needs to be monitored. Did they give you a course of antibiotics? Easy does it. Relax and let it heal.

  • Eeeesh Dave I'm really sorry!!!

    I find a lot of Canadians whine about our health care system to Americans which I find odd.

  • @binsk I don't hear too many whine. But I imagine they are the ones that wish they could pay for it and get to the front of the line with no thought about the poor that would be forced to the back of the line to die.

  • That's one hell of an injury Dave! A similar thing happened to a friend of mine, cut two of his fingers clean off with a table saw. Luckily one of the best hand surgery facilities in the country is right down the street and he was fixed up in a few hours at almost no cost. I don't think anything like this would be possible if healthcare was focused on profit first, thanks for setting things straight.
